Matt Posted 24 February 2011 Posted 24 February 2011 COVENTRY City have urged fans to stop offensive chants amid a huge row over songs about striker Marlon King. Many fans have condemned chants by Sky Blues supporters about the sexual assault which saw King jailed. Some supporters have refused to take their children to games while the “vile” song is being sung. But others have claimed it is just banter. As the team prepared to face Swansea City at the Ricoh Arena tonight, the club issued a statement saying: “We don’t want to hear chanting that reflects badly on the club or the supporters themselves. “We urge our fans to stop and think before singing any chants that could cause offence or distress to other fans.” King, 30, was jailed in 2009 for sexually assaulting a female student in a nightclub. He punched his 20-year-old victim in the face after she spurned his advances, breaking her nose. For months the player has been the subject of oppositions fans’ abuse with taunts of: “She said no Marlon, she said no.” In recent weeks City fans have responded with three new chants in support of King which the Telegraph has chosen not to publish. What fans/supporters?!
FuriousFox46 Posted 24 February 2011 Posted 24 February 2011 Is this their attempt at pinning their low attendances on 'offensive' chants (that are rightly sung)? Pathetic people, the inbreeds of Coventry are.
Corky Posted 24 February 2011 Posted 24 February 2011 "Some supporters have refused to take their children to games while the “vile” song is being sung" I'm sure the kids are gutted about that.
samjohnson Posted 24 February 2011 Posted 24 February 2011 I think thats worse than getting your mother to tell your bully's off...
I am Rod Hull Posted 24 February 2011 Posted 24 February 2011 Marlon, He'll punch your fu**ing wife. Tune of the Yuki "song".
Leicester_Loyal Posted 24 February 2011 Posted 24 February 2011 Apparently he nearly signed for us on deadline day? Sure I read this on their forum. I'd hate to have him here.
ThurnbyLodgeFox Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 Hope this echoes around at the weekend. Instead of Sven's version SK4 -.-
Ozwin Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 If this doesn't get sung at the weekend I'm going to be massively disappointed.
SystonFox Posted 25 February 2011 Posted 25 February 2011 that russell howard song is legendary. love thy man, ahos;hdifej;fdlkjdfp
MPH Posted 26 February 2011 Posted 26 February 2011 What a mind numblingly stupid article. Now every Leicester fan knows what to chant to get up Cov's noses.... ( if you look at this, it actually looks like he is shouting ' she said no!' )
Jay Posted 26 February 2011 Posted 26 February 2011 I'm sure if they didn't want to hear the chants they have a choice of about 20000 spare seat they can move to
Swalker Posted 26 February 2011 Posted 26 February 2011 It's obvious its going to happen at football games. Look at Mattock against Shef Utd. It is just banter from football fans.
accessory Posted 27 February 2011 Posted 27 February 2011 The attempts by Cov fans to whitewash such appalling behaviour marks a new low even by their standards.
Tommy G Posted 27 February 2011 Posted 27 February 2011 He's got a dodgy past but I would take him at leicester for sure. He looked class yesterday, quick strong and a good finisher. Could do a lot worse!
Fox92 Posted 28 February 2011 Posted 28 February 2011 He's got a dodgy past but I would take him at leicester for sure. He looked class yesterday, quick strong and a good finisher. Could do a lot worse! Thats exactly what I said during the game
cambridgefox Posted 1 March 2011 Posted 1 March 2011 I think Coventry is the best club for his rehabilitation they cant BEAT anyone! Thankyou im here all week!
BrummieFOX Posted 1 March 2011 Posted 1 March 2011 He's got a dodgy past but I would take him at leicester for sure. He looked class yesterday, quick strong and a good finisher. Could do a lot worse! Regardless of ability, I wouldn't want scum like that playing for my club! Players can cheat on their wives, get pissed at the weekend etc and it's not news for me as long as they do the business on the pitch but when a player is arrested and sent down for assaulting a woman I wouldn't want them anywhere near Leicester City.
