QPR Post Match Thread

To those sensible posters of both persuasions....

It was a tight compelling game that was, overall, pretty even. We were in charge at times as were the Rs. It was tough and competitive but without any meaningfull malice, shame the fans can't manage the same.

Both sides had a handful of decent chances, we could not put away any of ours, Rangers could, that was the difference.

For the away team, we ran the top side pretty damn close, probably deserved a point, but didn't get it. Painful but I'll get over It....

As for those complaining about the Kenny incident, if you can't take the banter, don't dish it out. Spoilt little brats....

If they want to be dicks about it, let them. They know they were lucky, there's nothing we can do about it now.

It's the powers of the league table. Just like we were after that win at Derby.

You sang shit ground no fans, abused Warnock, abused Taarabt who is the only world class player in the Championship, abused Kenny for the whole of the second half, abused a life long R's fan who wears a sombrero, then being little hard men in South Africa Rd after the game,

Comedy. Welcome to football. Fans do silly chants and I can assure you old Sombrero boy was giving it big when the goal went in, his rattle didn't stop. As did all the fourteen year old kids running down the touchline. Can't believe you reckon you're someone whose watching football for so long. An away following as big as that, expect. Wait till Manchester United come down, cos you'll be lucky if there's an away end left.

Excellent game anyways wasn't it? I want us to match that every game left remaining. It was a proper football game, strong challenges (Mee on Taarabt, cor blimey!) but no needle. Tight as a nun's.....

I was still in the Bush post-match, finally found a pub we were let in and void of QPR fans who felt the need to tell everyone they were top of the league (yeh...we know we can read lads). The QPR boys in the pub knew they'd been a game, we just lacked a bit of attacking shine.

Enjoyable day bar fourty minutes between 4.50pm and 5.30pm. The Loft is becoming one of my favourite grounds.

The Loft is becoming one of my favourite grounds.

It was my first time there and it swiftly brought back memories of traditional football grounds. The last one I'd been to was Villa Park or Kenilworth Road.

As much as I love the aesthetic qualities of brand new stadiums, nothing beats the atmosphere (albeit yesterday created mostly by us!) of a ground like that.

II was stood in the aisle right on the divide left hand side and some little QPR penis Jockey sat in his seat all game giving it large, then when the goal went in he kept going at it, our end predictably very fired up rose to him, steward called him over to the segregation where one of our lot went for him, he shat himself predictably so was deservedly kicked out for being a little godshite behind a steward, our bloke was let of free as to be honest the stewards were shit scared of doing anything at all to us.

Shows what strength in numbers can do, we held all the cards yesterday and the stewards and the little poloice in the ground didn't want to know.

Something kicked off on the right-hand side too, looked like an incident involving 2 QPR fans but didn't know if it was one of ours in the home end or something. Quality support from us I thought!

It's alight being a traditional ground but that pitch is far too small to play expansive football on it's only suitable for under 10s competitions.

My first post of the weekend, had to keep updated on Fianl Score and the nthrough the highlights on Fl Show.

I have said for a whilet hat I am becoming increasingly dismayed with Sven. Quite frankly, I fear he is losing it.

His selections are bizarre. Someone please tell me if there was a need to play 4 central midfielders (due to injury, etc) but I cannot see the logic in this.

Why play Mee at LB over Berner? Makes no sense to me.

I think we can forget the PO's, its quite funny to see that people have finally been brought back down to earth, after saying we are the ebst team in the league etc.

We played a narrow diamond with Abe at the bottom, King at the top. It worked very well as Loftus Road is a very, very tight pitch. We could cover the midfield and double up on the wingers of QPR. We won the tactical battle.

Mee was superb. Berner's legs have gone for me.

Pretty busy day to be honest.

We're heading off for a couple of weeks in the sun at the crack of dawn tommorrow, after going to the game yesterday I had to help out getting stuff ready and packing etc.

Bollox, I give up. Just trying to embed the above video clue as to where we are heading off to in the morning.

No time to fook arround...

Because we played 4-1-3-2, Yuki being the 1 and with King, Wellens, Oakley the 3. Leaving the full backs to create the width and I thought it worked quite well apart from Naughton and Routledge cancelled each other out,

Maybe because Berner has been a yard off the pace all year, look at the player ratings Mee is getting MOTM from most people including me!

It was a very small narrow pitch, QPR play a diamond shape in midfield probably due to this, I'm guessing Sven thought matching it would be the best bet. It was always likely to be a very physical match and Gallagher/Dyer are hardly renowned for the physicality. As for Mee at left back he put in a terrific performance both defensively and attacking and was many people's choice for MOM.

I actually thought Sven got his tactics spot on, I can't say I agreed with bringing Gallagher and Dyer on. If Yakubu, Vassell and Waghorn had put their chances away I doubt we'd be having this conversation.

I still dont see the point in playing that way though. Ok it was for tactical reasons, but it seems we went there not to lose, more worrying about them than concentrating on our own strengths.

Berner's legs havent gone, thats rubbish. He rarely has a bad game, and adds so much more experience at the back, with a bit of leadership which I think we are clearly missing.

Though Sven quite clearly doesnt rate him, Weale, and obviously Hobbs, and I'd rather those three were in than the current players in those positions. We wouldnt be any worse.

Sven is getting like he was at England. Playing players who are qite clearly only playing because they are favourites of his. Just doesnt work.

EDIT: Just seen the other posts, seems Mee did well so fair enough but I stand by my points about Sven and the fact we played to stop them playing rather than concentrating on our strengths.

I did think that as well. Could have had a shot from the centre circle and it would have been classed as a 30-yarder!

berner hasnt played for a while remember where at least ben mee has, he has also apparently played there before and he had a good solid game so was a decent shout by sven.. (think hes kinda set in his ways any way on platers and if he dosent rate them he doesent rate. weale situation has proved that.. )

when picking the team theres so much to consider rather than just the players, theres the opposition, there style, there formation, as someoone else mentioned , the pitch so the team is made with that in mind. again to be fair to sven we stopped them from hurting us 88 minutes so.. ok a game is for 90 minutes but we cant blame the loss yesterday on sven picking the 4 midfielders.

Bruma and Mee were the two best players in our team yesterday from the stream I watched, which had been backed up by quite a few who went.

How you can say, without being there, that we wouldn't have been any worse with Hobbs and Berner (the stalwarts of the team who were bottom after 9 games) is beyond me.

Funnily enough our pitch is 2 yards shorter in length than QPR's pitch according to http://soccervoice.com/groundsch.htm Also 4 yards wider at 76 yards.

On a tangent Dennis Wise wanted to narrow Leeds United's pitch mid season but since dimensions have to be registered prior to the season he wasn't allowed to do so.

Email I had today from a decent QPR-fan. Interesting perspective.

"It was a decent game without ever really catching fire. Really competitive in midfield which made space hard to find and both sides cancelled one another out, really, especially in the first half. We made a few tactical changes for the second half which made more space and you probably had the better of the game after that. Having mostly played on the break in the first half, you used the ball better in the second half and could possibly have shaded it then. 0-0 would probably have been fair but the extra touch of composure from Routledge and Helguson made us always look more likely to score as, of course, we did."

Yak didn't chase much and Naughton was the best of your loanees but your keeper also played really well. My man of the match from both sides would have been Bamba who was immense all game. 5 points off the play-offs with 11 games to play? You’ve gotta fancy your chances. Probably short a goal scorer but certainly one of the best sides at Loftus Road this season."

These are the comments of a man who watched the game on Final Score, and had made up his mind about what he was going to say days ago.

My confidence of us getting in the play-offs, and faith in Sven, has increased from Saturday's game, not decreased.

Eriksson showed a tactical flexibility which has been lacking previously. When you go away to top of the league you have to nullify their strengths first and foremost, otherwise you get shat on.

Your mate's right.

We played very well, and a draw would have been a fair result. The way the QPR players celebrated at the end speaks volumes for the way we played and battle we gave them. QPR are clearly going up and if I'm honest, I think Warnock will keep them up. The way they pressed us so quickly and high up the pitch, I thought we were going to be overrun, especially after the first 10 minutes, as our defenders were barely getting any time on the ball to pass it around. However, we held up well and gave it back to them to give them the toughest game they've had at home all season.

It'll be interesting to see how the diamond formation works at home when we're under more pressure to attack, as I felt we lacked width when going forward due to our fullbacks being pushed back by their wingers.

From posters at the game it sounded like it worked well. Point is you wouldn't have posted this had we got the goal at the end instead of them.

One of our problems on the road was getting found out and outplayed and that didn't happen yesterday. A lot of the time you have to keep it tight on the road, especially away to the top team in the division. I'd bet if we played again with a 4-3-3 we wouldn't have come close to getting a result.

Didn't you say midway through last season that we could kiss the play-offs goodbye for 2009/10?

First chance to comment on the QPR away day...

Fairly even match, I think we shaded the better chances overall.

Yak really doesn't bother chasing anything. Once Vassell came off, Waggy chased everything, and we seemed to create a number of opportunities.

A draw would have been a fair result.

Must say QPR home crowd akin to my last away @ Watford, not a peep til they scored the winner and awoke from their slumber..

An aside - very sad and disgraceful to hear City fans following a fellow City Fan (a young lad - teenager) ato the concourse then giving him a cut lip...shameful. We're supposed to be on the SAME side.

Just watched the highlights again, Waghorn's finishing is atrocious. But he changed the game for us when he came on and I think him and Yakubu together could work. Yak was far more involved with a player alongside him and his effort that Kenny tipped over the bar was a beauty, his technique to whack the volley straight afterwards that just went over was quality. The cross for King's header was perfect and there's far more to come from him.

Tomorrow is a must win and I think we'll do it. We have got to attack them hard and the team should be the same as saturdays except Gallagher or Dyer in for Oakley and Waghorn instead of Vassell.

I thought Ricardo looked more assured on Saturday too, although to be fair he didn't have a lot to do.
