Tuna Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 IF Yakubu was seriously interested in joining LCFC, it would have been finalised by now. The impression i am getting is of a player using LCFC to engineer a lucrative deal with another club. I hear these rumours of Turkish clubs with massive wages on offer. Sven is right not to be over paying players and if the yak's demands are unrealistic then he can piss right off. He is top class for the championship, and he'll get us 20 goals next season. But there are plenty of strikers out there. Its time we end this madness and stop posting in this thread and give up on it.

But we just don't know that the "true" problems are? it could simply be anything and yes one of them "rumours" that we have all heard could be the problem.. But anything could be holding back this transfer, from Everton, to Yak's agent, to Yak demanding Lloyd Dyer has a penis reducing transplant so Yak has the biggest one in the team So until he joins another club, or Sven totally rules it out i've still got hope...
Ozwin Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 I'd literally welcome Ade Akinbiyi back if it meant we'd signed someone at last. * Getting sick of all the will we/won't we's and this place becomes unbearable when there's no actual football to discuss. *ok maybe I'm not that desperate...
VampLCFC Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 Really want this to die off now, dragged on way too long, seems like he's messed us about, throw the £3 - 3.5m at Maynard instead, younger, faster, more prolific, WIN WIN WIN
lee(lcfc) Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 wont be happy if he signs for west ham after saying he dont want to drop down a league
Callabinho Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 wont be happy if he signs for west ham after saying he dont want to drop down a league I'm more than certain that's what will happen. And mostly thanks to his agent!
enex Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 Just saw this article http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk/everton-fc/everton-fc-news/2011/06/17/yakubu-could-make-switch-to-west-ham-united-from-everton-fc-92534-28892873/ could be joining west ham, they are splashing the cash!
Callabinho Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 I'm not one to panic but if we want to get out of this league this season we need to make this signing, why all of a sudden are we shying away I thought we had significant backing? We have to gamble and go for it.

We have to gamble and go for it. Given what has been said about the owners backing Sven, I very much doubt that money, per se, is the issue. We could probably pay the Yak whatever he wants, no problem. The real problem is what giving one player exceptional terms would do to our 'wage structure' and team spirit, rumours of problems between our contracted players and loanees on higher wages surfaced towards the end of last season during our 'bad run'..... In addition it would send a message that we are there for the taking, financially, not good. Throw in the fairly obvious conclusion that, despite what was said, the Yak has no affinity for City whatsoever, maybe we are better off without him.

Yes, the Yak is a good finisher, but we need players that absolutely want to play for us.. it doesn't appear that the Yak does, or not enough anyway
Nick Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 I don't think anybody on here knows what the Yak wants in all honesty. He has earned upward of 40K per week for at least the last five years. He's late 20's and probably got two big professional contracts left in him. He's a wanted man and he's going to be taking the advice of his agent and playing the long game rather than taking the first offer of half his current wages per week. It's a no brainer in terms of business. It's not about whether he wants to play for us or anybody else it's about business. I'd take him or Maynard and it doesn't have to happen today or next week - negotiations are a cat and mouse game, not a blind acceptance of terms due to a blinkered unconditional love for a club. People need to calm down a bit and stop the Yakking.

I have yet to see a news story that contains any facts or quotes regarding the Yak. Marbelladave does make a very good point about not breaking our wage structure though. Maybe we should wait and see what happens.
sphericalfox Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 I think the contract negotiations went something like the above
21st Century Fox Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 Please say you just did a random search for Yak on Youtube and didn't have that in mind whilst searching
Darkon84 Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 He doesn't love our club or our fans. If he did he wouldn't be taking the piss saying he doesn't want to play in the Championship. Hes messed the club about, I'd rather we moved on now. If he holds us to random and we pay the extra say 20k a week wages, every other football will do the same.
GH1 Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 Said it yesterday, I'll say it again - Close the thread if we do maybe something will happen!!!!
Babylon Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 I think the contract negotiations went something like the above WTF!!!!!!!!!! You need help son You're a Yakety, Yakety, Yak!!!
Bob.For.The.Win. Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 I think the contract negotiations went something like the above That actually made me laugh!
Nick Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 Errm I just heard the deal is back on. I heard Yakety Yak Yak has agreed personal terms sub 30k per week with a six figure bonus should we make the Prem. All this talk of Maynard must have made him re-visit the table. I won't reveal my source but it was intimated to me end of next week it will be wrapped up. That's all folks, now go tear this apart..........
Petchy Posted 17 June 2011 Posted 17 June 2011 Said it yesterday, I'll say it again - Close the thread if we do maybe something will happen!!!! Yawn. The whole point of a forum is discussion so what would be the benefit of closing a thread that is a considerable talking point at this moment in time? In general, topics on this forum get closed way to easily and seemingly without genuine reason. Unless it is confirmed news, topics should stay open as they are still talking points. Simple as that.

People need to calm down a bit and stop the Yakking. All true but totally one sided. Of course it is 'business' but part of that 'business' is the club making sure that the money is well spent! I'm sure no one at City expects him to 'love' us and play for (next to) nothing but we do expect him to be profesional and put in the effort and earn his salary. If he does that I will have no problems with him whatsoever. The nightmare scenario that some of us fear is an overpaid Yak getting mardy and lazy if somethings are not to his liking and the other players on less money having to take up the slack. They will naturally be pretty fed up should this happen, team spirit down the gurgler and any hopes of promotion with it. Errm I just heard the deal is back on. As long as his contract is made to fit in withour pay structure thats fine, if not walk away..... As I have said elsewhere I an ambivilent about this, on the right deal fine, otherwise no way!
