Guest Mee-9 Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 Signing someone on "astonishing wages" will never be CMS
Liamlcfc1 Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 Yakubu finally signs! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13877105.stm
Vlad the Fox Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 Shows how clueless they are. We've not spent any money yet, bar pelts. They were jizzing themselves over west ham this morning and big sam.
Callabinho Posted 23 June 2011 Posted 23 June 2011 SVEN SIGN YAKUBU.... There that should do the trick
hackneyfox Posted 24 June 2011 Posted 24 June 2011 Yeah I heard that aswel, and said that we pay RIDICULOUSLY large signing on fees! Cardiff signed Conway by offering a signing on fee 3 times larger than ours
Foxinspain Posted 24 June 2011 Posted 24 June 2011 Yakubu finally signs! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13877105.stm Don't do that to me
JJS84 Posted 25 June 2011 Posted 25 June 2011 I'm guessing the yak saga is over then On what basis is it over?
lcfc matt Posted 25 June 2011 Posted 25 June 2011 The fact it has all gone quiet it was a question not a statement
Sly Posted 25 June 2011 Posted 25 June 2011 It doesn't help any club if figures are banded around. The quieter the better until the deal is done.
80footgiraffe Posted 25 June 2011 Posted 25 June 2011 I hope it's all being done in secret out of the way of west spam
Bezzanator89 Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 I really can't see this one materialising. The only thing that'll convince Yakubu to come down a division is if we maintain his pay packet status. 2 problems here. 1) We can't afford to pay such a ridiculous salary for the division we are in. 2) The greedy lazy Nigerian won't take a pay cut. Result: Stalemate. We can find better than him anyway

cc_star Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 Of course we can afford him I'd take a few more greedy, lazy nigerian's who can score 1 in 2 and only cost around £2m The thing is, he may be holding off for a) a bigger club b) even more money in Turkey or somewhere c) Might be holding off to see who else we sign d) Sven rumoured to have been on holiday and whilst he won't be present through negotiations I would think it odd a first 11 player signing & the manager not being around... plus why pay him for a couple of weeks holiday I'd love him here, he the closest thing you can get to an actual 'guarantee' for 25 goals the fact we've been sniffing around elsewhere makes me think he's not coming and that's a big miss for us
Callabinho Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 Bert is correct, unless we sign another proven Premier League striker to replace him we wont find any better. Rushing into this is the worst thing we could do as a club and if we are still to sign him it will be a deadline day job. Like any good manager does Sven is searching for alternate options but if he has to turn to Yakubu, then the owners will back him.
Bezzanator89 Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 I didn't mean we can't afford the wages, because we can. But I'm highly certain that they have a limit to how much they'll give to one particular player per week. For the league we're in, I don't feel that the owners will be happy to pay his pay packet.

Which is why they aren't, they've set out what they're willing to pay him. The rest is down to the yak....
80footgiraffe Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 For a start, we can afford his wages, we're just not going to be paying that much, and to finish off name a better striker we could get? Bert, am I reading too much into this? Do you think the deal is still on or what mate?
Stevosevic Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 I would like to know within a couple of weeks if the Yak will be signing, can't be good for his personal preparations having an uncertain future.
Sly Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 For a start, we can afford his wages, we're just not going to be paying that much, and to finish off name a better striker we could get? You could employ you Bert!!
Mee Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 Which is why they aren't, they've set out what they're willing to pay him. The rest is down to the yak.... Has there been any movement over the past week mate?
Callabinho Posted 26 June 2011 Posted 26 June 2011 Has there been any movement over the past week mate? I tried to body pop but failed
