Kitchandro Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 Wait wait wait...Are the people suggesting we should play a 4-4-2 with Gallagher and Vassell on the wings joking or serious? As for Heskey, would love him back but as an impact sub only. He and the Yak up front would not work. I agree with the person saying a Yak-Heskey lovechild would be perfect though We can't have 2 strikers uo front who are both that immobile.
Kitchandro Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 Nicky Maynard please SGE This. The people who want Heskey are the same ones always saying there's no room for sentiment I'm sure. If we could get Maynard and for some reason we keep Vassell and Yakubu (and possibly Kamara too) I can't see any room for Heskey in the squad. But obviously part of me would love to see Heskey come back and do well for old times sake.

Kitchandro Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 I agree pretty well with your take on this, but what about Yukubu, Maynard, Vassell and Heskey, Maybe? That would be OK, but the problem is when you try and play them all at once. None of them are wingers and none of them should be played on the wing. I also can't see a partnership between any of them. Schlupp and Waggy are also promising young players and neither should be shipped off for players who are over the hill IMO. I can understand people arguing Yakubu's case even though I'm still not convinced, but then partnering him with an even less mobile striker? That really wouldn't be a good idea. I think Heskey would be a luxury, and if we're signing him we should at least offload Vassell.
Fmfox Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 I like Heskey but I think that getting Kamara for free and buying Maynard would not only make us a quicker side (which Sven likes) but also more technically sound.
blueblood88 Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 NEVER go back, this will only end in tears! I fookin knew sven would be signing his old England washed up, past it, bum boys this summer......Owen next.
Chap84 Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 It's Heskey the same bloke who dipped into his own pocket when we were in a right mess. Don't we owe him something? Not even a chance? He may still have something to offer us he's scored some for villa and that's at a higher standard of football.I would play him behind a front two, he would still help take the pressure off them.I personally would welcome him back with open arms.
Petchy Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 People are misquoting the figures though. The 50k is his current Villa wage, whereas if he came here I doubt he would ask for a figure anywhere near that.

Yeah he's the one ! BRING HIM IN
Tuna Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 I think Heskey is now too old and his goalscoring record at his last 3 clubs (Villa, Wigan and Birmingham) - 212 appearances 37 Goals is appalling.

I Respect your opinion, as I do everyone else who are saying NO, I just think that IF he did come it would be a good move for all of us. There is BIGGER picture to Emile's game...........
Adster Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 Well at least we'll know the problem with players having PASHUN will be solved if Big Emile was to come back!
lestajigs Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 I think Heskey is now too old and his goalscoring record at his last 3 clubs (Villa, Wigan and Birmingham) - 212 appearances 37 Goals is appalling. So it was for England to...................BUT he kept getting picked!!! Wonder why, because he sets up goals!!!!!
ScouseFox Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 Heskey can't come 'cause he doesn't score enough. Yakubu can't come 'cause he scores too many.
Donut Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 We had a big striker in Yakubu that scored a shitload of goals and yet fans didnt like him. We are now speculating about a big striker with a shit goalscoring record and everyone is all over him. Thats why fans are fans and Sven has managed England.
sdb Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 I'd love him back but to be honest i'd die for any 2 out of Bruno, Yak, Kamara and Maynard.
Christoph Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 Rather have Yakman that Heskey but on the assumption we cant get the Yak or we can get both then i'm all for it. Whats going to happen when he has a one on one with a keeper or someone feeds him a through ball ?

Didn't get promoted though did we... and what if Sven did sign Heskey? Maybe he wants to
Christoph Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 Didn't get promoted though did we... . Considering there was only 4 teams who scored more than us I think that was more to do with the defence and goal keeping rather than anythign else.

Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 Dont understand all these people saying they dont want Heskey back. He would be awesome in this league. Pace and power up front (people foget he is still quick when he wants to be) in a league below what he has been used to could only work well, assuming we had good tactics and players around him. Heskey and Yakubu up front would be superb, Heskey making all the space and effort, and the Yak putting the goals in. Win, win. The only thing that would worry me are all these injuries he seems to be getting lately.
Kitchandro Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 . Considering there was only 4 teams who scored more than us I think that was more to do with the defence and goal keeping rather than anythign else. What about Cardiff, we didn't score. Coventry at home, created loads of chances, only our right back scored. QPR away didn't score. Norwich 2 midfielders scored. Scunthorpe 3 defenders scored. Portsmouth didn't score. This was the run of games where our play-off dream effectively ended. Can't be just the defence, that period coincided with Yakubu's poor form. Teams also sussed us out and our lack of movement, especially up front, made us predictable and ineffective. We struggle against above poor defences.
