sdb Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 He wont come back because he doesn't like being called Bruno and many LCFC fans don't seem to have got the message. But then again they'll probable start singing about him eating dogs or something equally stupid. I'm not sure he disliked it enough to vow never to return...
Thracian Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 I seem to recall you also lauded Sheehan, Dodds (if memory serves) Porter and Kee - none of which have exactly set the world on fire since leaving in my humble opinion. All discussed many times. Apart from Porter who imploded his own career for reasons that had nothing to do with football any lauding of Sheehan and Dodds was related to the situation at the time and who we were using in preference. I never lauded Kee, suggested only that Dodds deserved a chance in preference to the woeful Horsfield and Cadamarteri and said that Sheehan should be used in preference to Mattock because his free-kicks and corners would get us some much-needed goals. I was as critical of his rash tackling as everyone else but it's convenient to forget that along with forgetting that he helped Swindon to the play-off final last season. Three years on I stand by all of that. If others choose to take those views out of context that's up to them. Funny you didn't mention my saying Stearman would make a centre-back seeing as centre-backs was the subject under discussion. And no I don't think he's a great centre-back but he's pretty much held down the position in the Premiership when some said he couldn't even play there in the Championship. Heskey, to me, would make a better centre-back than Stearman. But if we don't sign Heskey or he doesn't play there, we'll never find out though I wish the bloke success if he comes here wherever he plays.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 8 May 2011 Posted 8 May 2011 He went mental playing for villa today.... ran after the ref, nearly nutted him, then had to be restrained in the tunnel and was brought of at half time I couldn't believe what I was seeing on Match of the Day! Unbelievable. I do like Emile but would he bring much more than the Yak? I personally think both would cost too much in wages but for the money the Yak would probably be a better choice in my opinion.

Probably more.
muzzyisalegend Posted 13 May 2011 Posted 13 May 2011 The thought of the Yak and Heskey together for us next season would strike fear into the hearts of championship defenders I reckon.
CosbehFox Posted 13 May 2011 Posted 13 May 2011 Come on now, you loved Sheehan like he was your own son. Probably more. It's also forgotten that Sheehan is currently second choice left back for a team relegated to League 2. A Leeds fan summed it up well about him when saying he's more concerned about the local Thursday student night than Saturday's game.
JoeyB Posted 13 May 2011 Posted 13 May 2011 Am i the only one who dosen't want Heskey back? In my eyes he is already a legend, and i wouldn't want him to ruin his "legend" status. He may be good at this level, but there is a chance he might be shite and you know how quick Leicester fans are to jump on the bandwagon and start criticizing players is it.

He hasn't been shite for Villa this season, so i wouldn't expect him to be shite for us at a lower level. Not much risk with this transfer IMO.
davieG Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 EMILE Heskey has emerged as Sven-Goran Eriksson’s top transfer target – giving Villa a dilemma over whether to cash in on the former Leicester favourite this summer. The Foxes have yet to formally contact Villa about Heskey but are preparing to tempt the claret and blues with a £1 million-plus offer for the ex-England battering ram. Eriksson remains a huge admirer of Heskey from their Three Lions days and the striker is thought to fancy ending his career with an emotional return to his boyhood club. Villa must resolve the future of manager Gerard Houllier, another Heskey fan, along with the fate of other key players before considering the targetman’s situation. Ashley Young’s contract will be the top priority after a decision on Houllier has been announced with Liverpool and Manchester United weighing up offers for the striker. But with Heskey now 33 years old and with just over 12 months of his contract remaining, Villa could be open to the possibility of receiving a fee for the veteran powerhouse. And as they look to reduce the wage bill, losing Heskey’s £50,000-per-week income could also be attractive if Villa can bolster their attack with a younger player. According to sources in the East Midlands, Eriksson will receive huge financial backing in a make-or-break attempt to win promotion to the Premier League next season. After missing out on the play-offs in his first campaign, the experienced Swedish coach has one year left on his contract in which to return the Foxes to the top flight. Leicester have been in talks with Everton about a permanent deal for Yakubu after the Nigerian international scored 11 goals in his 20-game loan spell. But Eriksson believes Heskey could offer a stronger all-round presence than Yakubu as he looks for a new strike partner for former Villa and England striker Darius Vassell. Ric Flair Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 Quite frankly the most inept defender I've ever seen for us, rather have Bruma or get Kisnorbo back. Haha!
ACF Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 Merc. Leicester City are expected to make a bid to sign Aston Villa striker Emile Heskey but may have to be patient to land their man. The former City favourite is on Sven-Goran Eriksson's wish list this summer. Although an approach has not yet been made, Villa are braced for one from City and may be prepared to do business for the 33-year-old former England striker. However, finding a striker to replace Heskey is not a top priority for Villa, and sources say a deal would be dependent on several factors. City must wait to see what happens at Villa Park over the future of manager Gerard Houllier, who still has not returned to work after his recent heart scare. If the Frenchman does not return on medical grounds, Villa must find a replacement and they will be looking to do so before pre-season as they are keen to avoid a repeat of what happened last summer when Martin O'Neill left the club on the eve of the season. Houllier rates Heskey highly from their time together at Liverpool. But, if the Frenchman leaves, Heskey may choose to return to his hometown club and play for his former England manager Eriksson, who displayed a lot of faith in him at international level. Heskey has one year left on his Villa contract, but the Premier League club are keen to reduce their wage bill and rebuild the squad this summer after a mixed campaign when they flirted with the relegation places. They would be likely to do business with City as Heskey is reportedly on around £50,000 a week. They could ask for a fee of £1.5million for a player they paid Wigan Athletic £3.5m for in January 2009. Villa have prioritised recruiting possibly two goalkeepers and bolstering their defence this summer, and the future of Ashley Young must be resolved ahead of searching for a replacement striker, but City are confident they can get Heskey before the start of next season. If Heskey does return to City, it could mean the departure of striker Steve Howard, who is believed to be under consideration for a bid from Hull City. The Tigers are looking for a big, target-man striker, and manager Nigel Pearson knows Howard's capabilities from their time together at the Walkers Stadium. Howard could also reform his strike partnership with Matty Fryatt at the KC Stadium. Sheffield Wednesday are also said to be interested in the 35-year-old, who has one year left on his City contract. Hull are also keen on signing defender Jack Hobbs from City on a permanent basis after his loan spell with the Tigers.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 £1.5 million and 50k a week? NO. £1 million and 20k a week. YES.
SMX11 Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 £1.5 million and 50k a week? NO. £1 million and 20k a week. YES. This.
dave the caveman Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 £1.5 million and 50k a week? NO. £1 million and 20k a week. YES. Pay him all the money we can. Tell him to stick in an investment account ready for the next time we need him to help bail us out.
RumbleFox Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 Cheer up ya mardy buggers this would be a great move! It's Heskey! Emile Ivanhoe Heskey for God's sake! I love him. We all love him! It makes me laugh that people moan about players not having passion or commitment or any link to the club then moan about having a player like Heskey back. I know we have to be careful regarding wages but as long as we get that sorted out it would be a great move. Imagine him and the Yak upfront! My lord I've done a sex wee! Come home big man, we love you. X
Mack Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 On a sentimental level this works. On a cold calculated practical level it seems a lot of money spent on a player who is on the down-slope in his career. I'd opt for the calculated approach and seek out younger talent that can also have an impact once we are up.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 Would welcome him back with open arms.........as long as it's not at the expense of the Yak
Tommy G Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 No thanks. Ever since that attempted step over against algeria I never want to see him again. Over the hill 2 seasons ago. Nicky Maynard please SGE
Finchy Posted 17 May 2011 Posted 17 May 2011 Heskey & Yakubu the Championship's laziest and most prolific strike force.
