Just not as big as some people are saying. I would take Maynard over Adebayor anyway
phildw Posted 28 July 2011 Posted 28 July 2011 bert has said tonight apparently a striker is close but he wasnt sure who it was as of yet.. theres no way were not going to get a striker also. why would we repeatedly bid for maynard if he thought we didnt need a striker If Maynard was interested he would be here by now and I think SGE was banking on Bristol taking the money. They haven't and have held out to keep their man and fair do's to them but I think that has left SGE scrambling for another striker and there isn't much choice left because none of the premier league targets will drop a league and most of the other possible targets have been snapped up. Something about not putting all your eggs in one basket springs to mind!!

He said may be 1 perhaps 2 more when the interviewer pressed him but he didn't sound too convincing with his 'may be may be not' answer! One of the signings will be Hargreaves if he can find him. Certainly didn't sound like an excited manager on the verge of 8.5 million pound striker! Having had a real insight to the world of transfers last year (knowing a scout) I know that managers deny and play things down to lessen the media hype until the signings are complete, though I doubt it's Adebayor!
