Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 I see some of you have been reading the random player booing thread on the Oatcake. I think the best response to most of your comments about it is "W-H-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-S-S-S-H-H-H-H" 2 ryt tombo great banter aint it top chat with the lads whooshinell
FuriousFox46 Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 OK, so unlike the two muppets who supported Leicester on the Oatcake and the muppets who supported Stoke that came on here, I'm going to do my best to actually keep this as civil as possible. Hopefully, a bit of perspective without throwing in unnecessary insults (exclude the previous sentence from that) will confirm to you that we're not all complete arseholes like you seem to have concluded from just a few idiotic posts on a web forum. Firstly, the Oatcake... it represents a fairly small minority of actual supporters. Walk around the Britannia and ask how many use the Oatcake and you will find very few. Some will read the Oatcake, but very few actually post regularly. To be fair, I do, but I also like to think I put a fairly level headed viewpoint across. There are some absolute spanners on the Oatcake, just like I'm sure there's a few absolute spanners on here. They exist in all walks of life, so I don't think it's really necessary to tar all Stoke fans with the same brush. That said, there are some relevant points and instead of being offended, take off the tinted glasses and realize that most are just subjective personal opinions. Very few are based out of a genuine hatred or dislike which unfortunately seems to be brewing here. I noticed a few of you have said that Stoke fans appear to be very arrogant. It's worth pointing out that it really isn't arrogant to think you will win at home. I would just call it being optimistic as opposed to pessimistic. Glass half full right? Ultimately, when Stoke supporters go through the fixtures before the season begins and highlight matches we should be winning, I would say at least 15 of them are home games. Of course we expect to beat you at home. After all, most of our good form is based on home performances. You would feel exactly the same in our situation. We're also hoping to beat Man Utd and Arsenal at home again as well, would you call this arrogant too? Our away form has been notoriously poor since we returned to the top division, so it's no coincidence that when a newly promoted team is coming to town, we're expecting to win. I don't for one minute think we'll win comfortably and most Stoke fans have acknowledged your decent start. You're going to provide a test for sure and after beating the Champions on their own pad, it'll be interesting to see how the Stoke players react. In my opinion, we strolled out against Villa with a huge amount of complacency and got done by a team who worked very hard and wanted it more. They deserved the three points and if the same happens on Saturday, I won't hesitate to come back and congratulate you. I think it's strange that some on here are happy to say "we're going to stroll into the Britannia and win 4 nil" yet get really annoyed when the same is said on the Oatcake. I think a bit of perspective is required here. You're going to back your team, and we're going to back ours. I don't think it's necessary for either sets of fans to get irritated or annoyed by this. You'd be a pretty shit fan if you said "oh yeah, we're going to get tonked on Saturday". Personally, I'm chuffed to bits to see Leicester back in the Premership. You, Forest and Derby are three teams that I've genuinely been keeping an eye for the last couple of seasons. There's been too many London teams in the Prem for too long now and it's really nice to see you boys back. Let's not ruin any kind of good vibes we have by taking the comments of a few people on here and the Oatcake far too literally. I know there's probably a fair amount of hate after what happened in 2008, but the fact is, you weren't good enough for the entire season and despite Stoke playing awful in that final game, you still weren't able to get a goal which would have kept you up. You really can't blame Stoke for that. Good luck for Saturday, hope it turns out to be a real cracking game. I'll be sitting directly opposite you in the Boothen End, so feel free to direct me some abuse True, can blame the Stoke fans who decided to try and start a mass brawl with us. Why on earth would you think to do that when you've just won promotion? Totally bizarre.
StokeFan Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 I hate you. Here you come marching onto our forum and you get more rep points in one post than i manage in a week.. I hope you get a red hot poker, covered in oatcakes, shover up your bum. You can have a rep point from me To be fair, it might because the last Stoke supporter on made a tit of himself!! True, can blame the Stoke fans who decided to try and start a mass brawl with us. Why on earth would you think to do that when you've just won promotion? Totally bizarre. Furious, as someone who was there, I can only remember mass joy. It was a special day in our history and for me, the last thing I was thinking about in the immediate aftermath was you, no offence intended. Of course, with every normal set of fans there usually exists a bunch of complete turnips who think it's necessary to have a scrap no matter what the outcome. For that, I can only apologise, however like I've said, they represent a tiny minority, hell an even smaller minority than the Oatcake does. It can't have been more than 50 for sure? Each football team has their own set of complete twonks who find it necessary to find a brawl at any possible opportunity. I'm sure you have your own set. They'd fight their own shadow if it wasn't physically impossible.
Corky Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 The fact is, Leicester and Stoke have been involved in hugely significant matches in the last 20 years with both sides having joyous and painful experiences. There is bound to be some needle involved. We've had it with Portsmouth too. Stoke last season were a good side to watch, Leicester play entertaining football so it should be a good game with both sides confident of the win. 1
Manwell Pablo Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 idiotic Those last two letters make all the difference woosh
StokeFan Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 woosh It's already been explained Inside joke!!!

However, to my knowledge, no Leicester fans did that to Doncaster last season when they went down on the last day at our ground but maybe we have the benefit of experience. Regardless, I was putting out that Leicester fans don't dislike Stoke because "you relegated us", which you didn't, but because of how some fans treated us in the aftermath. 1

I know, it's something I pointed out earlier, but it's the past and like I said, I'm very glad to see you back in the top division. I have no idea of your feelings of Derby and Forest but the sooner they're back to the better. Had enough of these trips to QPR and Fulham! Either way, like I said, fans like that exist at every club and you shouldn't assume we share any kind of similarities. I'm a season ticket holder, I also go to the majority of away games. I have no interest in goading opposition fans other than your typical banter chants within the 90 minutes of football. At the end of the day, the people you speak of are total buffoons. They're the kind of guys who go to an away game without a ticket just for the 'craic' and to find some random pub to turnover. Do they represent Stoke fans? They don't. Do we like them? No. If you read the Oatcake, any time someone like that comes on, they're very quickly mocked and ripped to the point they usually leave with their tail between their legs and never post again. They're the people who ruin it for families and children. They're also the kind of people that made it difficult for people my age to attend away games growing up due to fear of violence and parents worrying. It's not just Stoke, it's every team and I have to say it's fantastic that you can now take your kids to an away day without fear of it kicking off.
Stadt Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 There'll be Stoke-Leicester alliance pin badges at this rate 2
Chug Laguna Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 We have always been at war with Stoke-upon-Trent

Oxfordfox83 Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 The fact is, Leicester and Stoke have been involved in hugely significant matches in the last 20 years with both sides having joyous and painful experiences. There is bound to be some needle involved. We've had it with Portsmouth too. Stoke last season were a good side to watch, Leicester play entertaining football so it should be a good game with both sides confident of the win. Quite agree. So far, we've only had to play counter, because every team has expected to do us, and we've played brilliantly with low possession/shot stats (albeit the shots seem a bit dubious for Chelski). Likewise, Stoke did well soaking up and hitting on the break at Man City, but have been poor against teams they ought to be beating. So: it's our first winnable game, and a rethink for Stoke on how to attack from strength. Could be very interesting...
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 I prefer Derby more than these scumbags. They're an arrogant bunch so hope we beat them
Bilo Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 Blimey, an intelligent Stoke fan. Quick boys, get him stuffed and mounted! (If he's into that sort of thing)
Bugg Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 I wouldn't take Stoke fans too seriously to be honest, most of the ones I know are sound enough but complete wind up merchants when it comes to football so it's easy for some of the things they say to get under your skin.

Of course, it's a very small minority but that'd be hard to forget for many Leicester fans. Like I said, we were entirely respectful to Doncaster but maybe we've learned from the experience. Rookie mistake to bring up our rivals. To sum up. We dislike Derby. We dislike Forest much more and some of others dislike Coventry the most but most of us aren't too bothered by Coventry. We have about 35 threads on it every month
bovril Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 We were respectful to Doncaster because we had sealed promotion weeks before. If we had done it on a nail-biting last day......
Jordan Posted 11 September 2014 Posted 11 September 2014 http://scoreboardjournalism.wordpress.com/2014/09/11/predicting-the-premier-league/ This blogger collected several predictions for the Premier League last season and found that statistical models outperformed predictions by pundits and fans. He's at it again this year, and ranked the teams based on average predicted final position. As for Leicester: 19. Leicester City Leicester City are the most likely of the promoted trio to stay up say the statistical modellers whose average forecast for them is 15th. Fans don’t rate them at all though and place them bottom on average. Burnley and West Brom are the only teams worse than Leicester according to the media.

Popular Post Kitchandro Posted 11 September 2014 Popular Post Posted 11 September 2014 (edited) There'll be Stoke-Leicester alliance pin badges at this rate It's gone from 'Stoke fans are all brain-dead cvnts, scummiest club in England' to 'oh suppose they're alright, we're just the same really'. Because one Stoke fan came on here an didn't lay into us. I had a new found respect for this forum a page ago, now I've lost it again when I realised we were a bunch of inconsistent, soft twats. I don't care how polite this guy is, fvck Stoke. Edited 11 September 2014 by Kitchandro 6
