John Matrix Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 thanks for the wonderful times didi. you are a leicester legend!!!! we'll miss you!!!
RizLCFC Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Not too bothered by this, hope we get somebody experienced but I reckon it could be another upcoming coach/future manager in a similar mode to CP and DH. Had a dream Ian Dowie became the new coach last night!
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Hope he does well, though that is a club in big trouble. Good luck to him.
kingfox Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Think this is really good for the club not for a bad reason for Dietmar but for a good reason same as Chris Powell. It's good that we are picking up coaches who are now going into full time management, and have great credentials for working as a proper manager instead of an assistant or coach. Good to see we are picking up coaches with potential even though they may not stay long enough, like Hamann. Barry Hayles for coach please!!!
Blanesta Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Sammy Lee? Are people for real? There's a reason he's just left Liverpool... cos Kenny's realised he's not good enough. He was crap as manager at Bolton. Never rated him and imo he was at fault for Liverpool's downfall at the beginning of last season. NO NO NO. Do you think anyone not good enough for Liverpool isn't good enough for us?
Stadt Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Chelsea went downhill after Ray Wilkins was sacked. Still out of a job I think. I think hes sitting comfortably at Sky™. Why did i do a ™ ?
skinnydipper Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Kevin Macdonald. He's brought some great talent out of the Villa youth set up and was very popular in his stint as caretaker at Villa pre Houllier. And ex LCFC too.

skinnydipper Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 I agree - he's good - but no links with Sven (see my post above). Just read your earlier post. I suppose where we differ is that I think that we should simply go for the best candidate rather than limiting the choice to Sven's past acquaintances. For me Macdonald would tick all the boxes. He was a popular choice with the Villa players to get the full time managers post and with Faz getting on he could be brought in with a view to grooming him for the top job once Sven retires to his harem
Father Ted Posted 5 July 2011 Posted 5 July 2011 Oakley player/coach? Good shout! Anyone but Sammy Lee... well overrated imo no matter what anyone else says. He was at Liverpool since 2008 - when they began to go down the pan.
jamesmilner Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 anyone that can keep us going if we get a good run going when 7th pushing for promotion like last season , we seemed to play completely different when 7th last season .
Wymsey Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 Wouldn't mind Owen Hargreaves as coach here at all. But I don't want him here if he was going to use us as a 'stepping stone' in order to get into management -> Such as Powell and Hamann.

But I don't want him here if he was going to use us as a 'stepping stone' in order to get into management -> Such as Powell and Hamann. Becoming a coach should nearly always be seen as a stepping stone into management. Ex players see it as an apprenticeship, nothing wrong with that, it shows ambition.
darko2k7 Posted 6 July 2011 Posted 6 July 2011 I know he is a Manager and it is unlikely to want to drop to a coaching role but i would love Mark Robins here as a understudy to sven to mould him into our next manager.
bald reynard Posted 7 July 2011 Author Posted 7 July 2011 I see Allerdyce is hoping to take Ian Barraclough onto his Coaching staff at West Ham. That's a shame - he would be a good addition for Sven. He's a good Coach (helped keep Scunny up far longer than they deserved, with their 'financial clout'), with a good knowledge of the Championship - and equally importantly, a big City fan (I think he still lives in Leicestershire).
bald reynard Posted 9 July 2011 Author Posted 9 July 2011 Oakley or Howard ? Sven said in the Merc today that he might replace Hamman with, "an internal appointment". Apart from them two, I can't think of any other obvious candidates.

bald reynard Posted 9 July 2011 Author Posted 9 July 2011 Now I've read this somewhere before, even typed it myself earlier.............. Yes, well there's a thread on here about Hamann's replacement - and one on Transfer Talk about Oakley - two subjects ! I assume, from your answer on the other one, that you think Oakley could be the new First Team Coach ?
