1994fox Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Ah right, the money isn't coming out of my back pocket. Fuck it then. £10million for Shola Ameobi - I wouldn't mind, I'm not the one stumping up the cash. What a weapon. Night babs xx Like it how no one was talking about maynard. Then you come in with " EVERYONE STOP TALKING ABOUT MAYNARD" and now the whole threads gone off on a maynard related tangent.
Petchy Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 You're not paying, though. Evidently anyone who isn't cannot have an opinion. It's a Foxes Talk rule.
topharry123 Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 He was supposed to be at the game tomorrow however it may not be the case anymore. But you never know..... Until then I don't think we're going to know anything. If he's there, then we're probably in pole position to sign him. If not then it's over and we move onto the next target.
cc_star Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Not really the point though, is it? Nobody likes seeing your team pay over the odds for players, especially ones coming from this level with one good season under their belts. Personally the money doesn't bother me too much in most circumstances, but when you see Championship players leaving for £7 million something doesn't quite add up. Quite... I totally get it, but your forgetting Connor Wickham has distorted the market for a fee rising to £13m and the Southampton chap, hasn't even kicked a ball in the 2nd tier has gone for a fee rising to £15m, everytime stuff like that happens you can add another million or two to what you think someone is worth because the market has just risen £1m more is peanuts, when we were going to spend £2m-£3m more on another player a week later and it's impossibly small-change compared to the overall prize of promotion
m00nie Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 I'm always sceptical about big money signings, though. I'll not be sure whether Mills was worth all that moolah until the season's done. No guarantee that either Long or Maynard would've indeed 'aided us to promotion.' I just can't understand why people are continually moaning about missing out on players that zero interest in coming here, and were commanding obscene amounts from their clubs. A striker who only played about a dozen games last season due to serious injury, with a year left on his contract, and no top flight experience, cannot command the type of fee Brizzle were asking for. I've said it before and I'll repeat myself, you'll get so much more bang for your buck abroad, and it's hardly as if Sven doesn't have the contacts. if that really was the case why have we spent so long going after the likes of maynard?? cms.. long etc.. why was maynard the number 1 target if sven can get so much more .. for less...
Raw Dykes Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 People pointing to the Prem loan market... really.... good players are going to be let go, I don't think so, the only players leaving will be u-20's and has-beens Absolute rubbish. Was the Yak an under 20 or a has-been? Was Craig Bellamy? I don't want to see our club get put over the barrel and pay way, way, way over the odds for players just because we have a bit of money now. It makes us look like right mugs, and it is not necessary. There are good players out there that are far more reasonably valued than the mentally priced Long and Maynard. A loan from the PL would be ideal.
Joe. Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Quite... English players have long gone for inflated transfer fees, and that's incredibly unlikely to change any time soon. But yes, the market is always rising. Taking him as an example, I do believe Maynard will eventually leave (to whoever that may be), but I'd be very surprised if it was anything near a million short of what Long went for. City see him going for big money and they want their slice. I'm not sure where we're going to go now, but I have faith there won't be any panic signings just yet. Until the Premiership sides name their squads we're not going to know who's available for loan. Disappointing, but Eriksson's damned if he's not going to do something about it.
Callabinho Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 "sorry pal Keano's move to galaxy is on" - done next *ping*
acooling08 Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Just typed Robbie Keane in Google News, lots of reports of him going to LA Galaxy for £5mill. Would be stupid for him to go to the USA imo.

Why? the sports growing massively popular over there thanks to Beckham Henry & co, and who wouldn't want to live in LA on big bucks for a couple of years It's a no brainer is you ask me, it's not like he supports us or anything is it
Petchy Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 "sorry pal Keano's move to galaxy is on" - done next *ping* Who's that from? I do agree with people though that Galaxy isn't a good move if Keane was serious with wanting to play 'good quality first team football'. But, he will be getting a huge financial package and America wants the league to become more appealing and a higher quality. Don't think Ireland will be too happy though...

Joe. Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 The MLS is improving by the year. Although it's obviously not the standard of the Championship, why should he move here? More money and a hell of a better lifestyle in Los Angeles is a complete no-brainer to most players. At the end of the day we're a Championship side, Keane has little left to prove and can do what the hell he likes.

Liamlcfc1 Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 In reply to how sure are you that keane will move adamserrano Adam Serrano@ @liamlcfc as long as JPA moves, this will happen
acooling08 Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 It depends if he still has a desire to play at a high level. In the US nobody cares about football and the standard is shit, if he does go there then he'll be saying goodbye to ever being in the Prem again. If he comes to us on the other hand... Of course though, if he wants to run down his career with a nice place to live and good money he should go to LAG.
Joe. Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Wonder what the Merc are reporting on this tomorrow, looks like they're fucked with this Galaxy move now.

21st Century Fox Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Not sure if this has been posted somewhere but this is from the BBC Newspaper Gossip Column... Republic of Ireland and Tottenham striker Robbie Keane is on the verge of signing a two-year, £5m contract with Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy, subject to a medical. Full story: Fox Soccer
ajthefox Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Sorry, didn't realise you were paying I really can't believe this still or ever, in fact, gets used. As if it's a valid argument that just because I'm not paying for something I shouldn't give a shite about how much it costs. Absolutely ridiculous thing to say.
