Adster Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Fourth Official DM'd me saying club sources deny the link: "as in big wages, and galaxy are linked but club sources saying its not true" Direct message sent by Fourth Official (@Fourth_Official) to you (@adster159) on Aug 12, 1:49 PM.
Ross_Spencer Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 "Alright, heard from a good source that Keane to LA is a possibility, nothing is official yet" "Which I think means, if LA can find a taker for Angel, its a done deal" @SportsLab
1994fox Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Spur on the moment, best just wait till it is official either way, or until Stringer pops up with a tweet confirming or denying the link Stringer? Credible? PAH
cc_star Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Has his agent just pulled a master stroke & getting the price/wages up wherever he goes
cc_star Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Thinking about it: Footballers usually go to America for one last big pay cheque. It's basically admitting your career is over when you're mid-thirties. Keane is only 31. I'd have thought he'd have one more challenge in English football before he chased the big bucks stateside? Maybe in the past but the sport is rising in popularity all the time, I'm sure its not beyond the realms of possibility they'll promise him the earth & have LA to offer him to whereas we can maybe off him Prem footie in a year
Wymsey Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Problem is we need someone of his quality to be available almost every game, not have to struggle with 'second-choice' strikers whilst he's on international duty now and then.
topharry123 Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Maybe in the past but the sport is rising in popularity all the time, I'm sure its not beyond the realms of possibility they'll promise him the earth & have LA to offer him to whereas we can maybe off him Prem footie in a year Tending to agree with this. I've been in Texas getting on 4 years, and since then popularity has skyrocketed! They have 2 cable channels dedicated to football, and even the major networks are starting to pick up a few of the bigger games. 4 years ago there was one channel which had a few live games and the rest reruns. Also the play seems to be better quality and I now see a lot more kids playing football down the parks than I ever used to. The quality and popularity is still far behind Europe, but for how much longer? Beckham went there at 31/32, Henry wasn't past it yet and players like Donovan are sticking around rather than playing in Europe. For some it can still be seen as a last big payday but from the reports (even though they're probably false) Keane wouldn't be on any more than he could get here.
Callabinho Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Ok I've hampered my source and! Keane to LA is unlikely, apparently Keane has already agreed a pre contract with a club over the phone. So rumours of Howard leaving on lone 2+2....... Again take this news as you will. Plus look at the mess sky made concerning Bamba.

Toffee_Fox Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Him signing for us, 100% won't happen now, was very close last night, seems LA put a bigger deal on the table last night, every media source ran with it this morning and been informed by the club he's done a runner.
cc_star Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Good sources say he's LA's man Good sources say LA don't know anything about him
Happy Fox Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Good sources say he's LA's man Good sources say LA don't know anything about him We will just have to wait and see what happens I guess
kingfox Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 This is stupid ignore all tweets from now on everything is wrong. Just sit back and watch us get Jerome or Anichebe
Kingleicester Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 So many faulse rumours going around, don't no what to believe
Hack Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 What other strikers are out there who we could realistically get? Roque Santa Cruz?
Callabinho Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 It's all gone mad, my source didn't say who he has agreed a deal with, so we will have to wait and see. The worrying thing is Maynard is a medical away from being a saint...
Happy Fox Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Tottenham-Robbie-Keane-set-shock-move-Los-Angeles-Galaxy-has-agreed-3million-a-year-contract-article784685.html Robbie Keane set to join LA Galaxy Published 23:01 12/08/11 By James Nursey MLS outfit Los Angeles Galaxy have made a shock swoop for Tottenham outcast Robbie Keane. The Irish striker, 31, has agreed a two-year contract worth £6million and could be on his way across the Atlantic next week. Keane was poised to sign for Sven Goran Eriksson at Championship promotion chasers Leicester earlier this week, but the Galaxy then contacted his advisors with their lucrative proposal to play alongside David Beckham. Following a disappointing loan spell at West Ham last season, Keane has been touted around Premier League clubs in an attempt to get his whopping £60,000-a-week wages off Spurs’ books.
Wymsey Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 If I ruled the world, (don't worry it won't happen. ) I would ban Twitter, especially when it comes to transfer rumours, like this one. Regarding Keane's situation, people are twittering different stories to another, probably confusing people. Are these 'twitterers' trustworthy with reliable information, or are they just talking bulls**t about what they think Keane is doing?

Guest Col city fan Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Can't believe how much 'cock and bull' there has been in this thread... We're nowhere nearer to knowing who, if anyone will be coming as striker... Where's 'Bert' when you need him?

phildw Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Confirmed BBC Sport - Keane signed for Galaxy. Move on - whose the next striker we won't get??!
