MGLCFC Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 From what I've seen of Nugent he can do the job effectively
Tielemans63 Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 Surely he won't let Howard go before another striker has come in? We don't want to reduce our options before we've added to them. Unless he's clearing space for a signing?
Thracian Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 Thinking of it purely in terms of goals Howard is fast slipping down the list. Five goals in his last 38 appearances isn't going to fight off Schlupp, Nugent or King whoever else the boss brings in. Which leaves his value as a target man and general nuisance which can be considerable. Trouble is a team only has to defend fairly high to keep him outside the box and severely limit any chance of his scoring. He's not got the spring-heeled ability to leap his way to glory in the penalty box at set-pieces, henot quick enough to get behind defences and he's not sharp enough at getting in the box to poach titbits. Altogether therefore he's hard to mark but relatively easy to neutralise and not what we want or need in terms of goals potential. I might imagine him and Oakley as some sort of management duo somewhere, come the time.
J.Lisemore Posted 11 August 2011 Posted 11 August 2011 Howard totally overrated - Kermit totally underated. Kermit does far more in a game than the moaning hulking oaf of Howard who picks up yellow cards for no reason and is just a bore to the ref. He did score a good goal against Leeds though....... If you seriously think Kermorgant is or has been better than Howard, then I give up on life.

Jaspa Posted 12 August 2011 Posted 12 August 2011 Wouldn't we be in for a big target man if Stevie leaves?

Happy Fox Posted 13 August 2011 Posted 13 August 2011 It looks like Wednesday may be getting a striker from our club on loan, it is not Steve Howard according to Fanhouse Percy, Waghorn perhaps?
