FoxesFan100 Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Hello fellow FT users, I was wondering if anyone is or has experiencing any form of hair loss or thinning. To begin with i'm 21 and i can see a thinning patch and a balding one the crown of the head, this isn't what i would like to happen but I was wondering what people thought of products such as Regaine and that Alpacine shapmpoo, if that works or not. I know it can seem me being vein but I might just have to accept it if these products don't work. (I've just started using that Regaine foam for a few days now, however it does say you might not notice anything for the first 8 weeks). Thanks
FoxesFan100 Posted 14 August 2011 Author Posted 14 August 2011 Haha, hair transplants are a little too expensive for me so thats out of the question. So if any reviews on the products I suggested is or has anyone used them and like to say if they helped or not woudl be great
MC Prussian Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Hair loss is natural, genetically-based and there's not a lot you can do about it. All products against hair loss can only help slow down the process, you can't grow it back. Keep a short haircut and you'll be fine.
ramboacdc Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 i dont know if any of them products work but fingers crossed for ya (y). i know my mums side of the family look like a set of cue balls next to each other and have for as long as i can remember and nothing they tried got it back.

Thanks Prussian, i'll do that, however I just want to try and slow the process for a while untill it gets to that stage where I will have to get rid of it
purpleronnie Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 You can grow some back, obviously you're young you dont know how it will progress. If you manage to slow it down or stop the loss you could consider a Hair Transplant but you need to maintain or slow your loss before that and your too young atm. I would look at Hair loss forums mate you'll probably get much more information.
CupidStunt Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 shave ya head No products you buy are going to give you hair back I aint bald, but my head is shaved, so much easier in the morning
Rincewind Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 I'm 59 and still have a good head of hair. Makes my brothers jealous cos they are all thinning to the point of no return. I am going grey though and I'm sure its not growing as fast as it used to. My hair might be something to do with not visiting the hairdressers as often as I should. It doesn't grow long just thick and I don't always realise how thick until the hairdresser spends 5 minutes (3 minutes longer than the average balding nan) and I see all my hair on the shop floor. I may go this week. It's not too bad but going to a job interview Thursday. If I go any greyer I may go the whole hog and dye the rest. to match.
Guest Bilo Posted 14 August 2011 Posted 14 August 2011 Accept the inevitable and cut it short, nothing worse than a comb-over.
ozleicester Posted 15 August 2011 Posted 15 August 2011 grow taller, once your over 6.6 no girls can see it and mirrors are to low
Daggers Posted 15 August 2011 Posted 15 August 2011 Tell women you are undergoing chemotherapy and that you don't want to die a virgin.

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 16 August 2011 Posted 16 August 2011 In a nutshell. You cannot do bugger all about it. You're doomed.
Fox in the North Posted 16 August 2011 Posted 16 August 2011 Wear a turban!!!! +1!! Youve found the miracle cure
Bellend Sebastian Posted 16 August 2011 Posted 16 August 2011 In a nutshell. You cannot do bugger all about it. You're doomed. Invaluable words of encouragement from Le Dangereux Tigre there. I wouldn't worry. It certainly doesn't seem to bother lasses as far as I can tell, and there's the added bonus that haircuts will be cheaper. I've got a lovely head of hair and I'm not aware I've gained any advantages from it
Rincewind Posted 16 August 2011 Posted 16 August 2011 Nor me. My mum still tells me I need my hair cutting and tgets her comb to it. . And I'm 59.

(I've just started using that Regaine foam for a few days now, however it does say you might not notice anything for the first 8 weeks). Thanks I find it amazing, when you consider all of mankind's achievements - inventing music and stuffing thousands of wonderful songs onto a tiny piece of plastic the size of your thumbnail, putting a man on the moon, being able to communicate with each other over the opposite side of the planet and beyond in an instant - that there's still been very little apparent progress on the age-old problem of baldness. I haven't really investigated the problem, and you may well find an answer elsewhere on this, another incredible achievement by man - the internet, but you can take comfort in the fact that we live in an era when science does so many amazing things that very few people find surprising. A cure may be around the corner, or it may already be out there. Incidentally, my dad was telling me about some old woman (who I think might have lived round here somewhere. Twycross, maybe) who claimed to have the cure, but didn't want any fame. Apparently, she didn't want to sell the formula, and she just gave out her phone number, through friends and family, to people who wanted the cure. I told him that if what he'd heard was true, she's either a charlatan, or a cruel, heartless slag.
Rincewind Posted 19 August 2011 Posted 19 August 2011 Cant you hire an artist to paint your bald patch?
