Nick Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 He's like Ian Holloway with roid rage. It makes me thankful for Nigel and all his charisma.
Libertine Dream Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 Crazy but it seems to work and I've warmed to the guy
Part Of The Crowd Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 Proper laid into his players for rolling about in our game against them when we were already down to 10 men and they were winning. Respect for that.
Super_horns Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 It seems he was upset that the goalie blamed others for his mistake regarding the Preston first goal but then if you took every player off who blamed somebody else for their own faults you'd have none left! Mind you the goalie did react in a way no manager would really approve of albeit probably not be so public in their views on it!
Finnegan Posted 3 September 2012 Posted 3 September 2012 Love PDC. Good character Probably want to do yourself a bit of reading, Lav.
21st Century Fox Posted 6 September 2012 Posted 6 September 2012 Shocker! Di Canio blames another player for defeat. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19506410
Fox92 Posted 6 September 2012 Posted 6 September 2012 lol He'll be after another apology then. On a better note, I don't think there was any trouble at the game.
oxford blue Posted 7 September 2012 Posted 7 September 2012 lol He'll be after another apology then. On a better note, I don't think there was any trouble at the game. Very few arrests afterwards, but the Johnstone's Paint Trophy doesn't have the importance of a league game! (The league game last season was sold out months before the game) .It surprises me the intensity of rivalry between Oxford and Swindon fans: probably greater than City against Forest/ Coventry etc I know PDC is excitable & tells his thoughts as he sees them, but criticising a player to the media like he did surely makes no sense. Unless he can control his emotions, I can't see him managing players of a higher level that are as good as he was.
Itsthejoeker Posted 7 September 2012 Posted 7 September 2012 Fed up of hearing about him to be honest. In the local paper every bloody day.
Basingstoke Fox Posted 8 September 2012 Posted 8 September 2012 Proper laid into his players for rolling about in our game against them when we were already down to 10 men and they were winning. Respect for that. Oh did he now?
Fox in the North Posted 8 September 2012 Posted 8 September 2012 I wasn't really old enough at the time but it looked like we played good football that year, just the defence seemed a tad leaky and misfortunate.
Fox92 Posted 8 September 2012 Posted 8 September 2012 I remember that Charlton game when Di Canio dived, game ended 1-1. I can recall Micky Adams post match saying it was a 'joke penalty', which it was. I wasn't really old enough at the time but it looked like we played good football that year, just the defence seemed a tad leaky and misfortunate. We had some poor players, Adams said it himself, "players arn't free transfers because they are good players". If you look at some of the signings; Hignett, Curtis, Howey etc they were poor. We threw a lot of leads away that season - Tottenham away (4-4), Wolves away (4-3), Middlesbrough away (3-3) - and conceded a lot of easy goals. However, 2003/04 was the first time I ever had a season ticket (and I've had one since). I look back now and appreciate that season because I watched some fantastic goals scored by fantastic players (Gilberto's goal, Van Nistelrooy's hat trick, Kevin Phillps' 30-yard strike). Micky Adams did a fantastic job for Leicester, and I'll always respect him, as a man and as a manager. Went to some fantastic grounds that season as well which I sadly haven't been to since (Anfield, City of Manchester Stadium, Villa Park). We'll be back one day
Fox92 Posted 8 September 2012 Posted 8 September 2012 Lost 0-1 today to Leyton Orient.. Jeff Stelling reporting that Di Canio in trouble with the ref again today!
purpleronnie Posted 8 September 2012 Posted 8 September 2012 You have to wonder if his antics affect moral...when things are going well I'm sure the players dont care about him going a bid mad...but now they have been struggling it might play a big part. I mean swindon hadnt lost or conceaded at home and orient lost all their games...so of course I bet swindon....even though in the back of my mind I was a little concerned......doh!

I'd just started getting tickets and going to away games with my dad so my memory's a little fuzzy. Watched the highlights of when tonked Leeds 4-0 (nalis's goal!) and the football looked pretty good when compared to the dross we've had. Remember most of the scores we threw away too :'( I think if we'd had more defensive steel we'd have been fine, but ahwell it's too long ago now haha. Just hope we give this season a better crack than the last one
I am Rod Hull Posted 13 September 2012 Posted 13 September 2012 Sorry, if that one bothers you how about this one? Or this one? Maybe.. this one? This one.. Oops, shit, sorry, I meant this one... I don't have time for anyone that willingly overlooks antics like Di Canio's and is happy to celebrate him regardless. I agree that football and politics maybe aren't the best mix and people trying to force the two together are maybe causing more harm than good. But that's not the case in wanting Di Canio out of the sport, it's him that's brought the politics to the fore and it's disgusting, dangerous politics at that. Fascism's got no place in the modern world what so ever and Italy has a big enough problem with it as it is, without icons like Di Canio stirring the mess. Oh, and I'm well aware Alan Shearer isn't a fascist. It was a joke. The salute is ancient Roman, not fascist.....
21st Century Fox Posted 13 September 2012 Posted 13 September 2012 The salute is ancient Roman, not fascist..... He is a fascist though. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/1506262/Im-a-fascist-not-a-racist-says-Paolo-di-Canio.html
I am Rod Hull Posted 13 September 2012 Posted 13 September 2012 He is a fascist though. http://www.telegraph...o-di-Canio.html So were the Romans
21st Century Fox Posted 13 September 2012 Posted 13 September 2012 So were the Romans But apart from fascism, the sanitation, the medicine, education, viniculture, public order, irrigation, roads, the fresh-water system, and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?
