Darkon84 Posted 1 February 2012 Posted 1 February 2012 He has pleaded 'not guilty' and now his trial wont take place until after Euro 2012, hmmmmm how conveniant. The contrast in handling between the FA and the Police charges are poles apart, it just seems like madness. Apparently if Terry is found guilty, he will recieve a fine of around £2,500 . http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/01022012/58/premier-league-terry-face-trial-euro-2012.html Chelsea and England captain John Terry will go on trial in July after he pleaded not guilty to racially abusing QPR's Anton Ferdinand during a Premier League match in October. The trial, which could last up to five days, will take place after the Euro 2012 tournament when Terry is expected to line up at the heart of England's defence alongside Ferdinand's brother, Rio. Terry did not attend Wednesday's hearing at Westminster Magistrates Court in central London. "Now that the court has fixed a date for trial, Mr Terry looks forward to the opportunity to clear his name," the player's legal firm Grosvenor Law LLP said in a statement. "Mr Terry has consistently and resolutely maintained that his well publicised remarks were made in the belief that he was being accused of racist abuse by Mr Ferdinand," it added. "Mr Terry was shocked and disgusted by that accusation at the time. Mr Terry denies making any racist statement and will establish in court that he is not guilty of any such offence. Mr Terry has never racially abused another player in his entire career." In December, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) ordered Terry to be prosecuted for a "racially aggravated public order offence" over comments allegedly made to Anton Ferdinand in an on-field exchange during Chelsea's 1-0 defeat by Queens Park Rangers. The CPS took action after video of the incident was posted on the internet and a member of the public complained that Terry had used allegedly racist language when speaking to Ferdinand. Terry could be fined up to £2,500 if convicted, only a fraction of his weekly wage. However, such a verdict could have an impact on his lucrative sponsorship deals and relationship with Chelsea team mates drawn from around the globe. Allegations of racial abuse have cast a shadow over the Premier League this season. Liverpool's Luis Suarez was banned for eight matches for racially abusing Manchester United's Patrice Evra during a match in October in a case dealt with by the football authorities. Chelsea Football Club has stood by Terry, who as the long-serving club captain is revered by the Blues fans for his commitment and passion on the pitch. Terry missed Chelsea's 1-1 draw with Swansea on the eve of the court case with a knee injury. Coach Andre Villas-Boas said on Monday he would consider giving Terry time away from his football commitments to clear his name if it was needed.
foxfanazer Posted 1 February 2012 Posted 1 February 2012 I don't think he racially abused Ferdinand at all. Why would he? Like other people have said, how may black players do Chelsea have?! So drogba or Ramires hears him say it but their loyalty is to their team mate or their race hmmm. Was always gonna happen after the Suarez incident though

foxfanazer Posted 1 February 2012 Posted 1 February 2012 Plenty of his team mates have wives, but it didnt stop him shagging one of them did it? good point well made. Still dont think he did though
Darkon84 Posted 1 February 2012 Posted 1 February 2012 good point well made. Still dont think he did though No worries mate, I see what you were trying to say though I'm still undecided to be honest as I didn't ever see the video without the blurring. End of the day, I think he's a complete penis anyway. Just think its a little 'handy' how it has all been delayed until after the Euros now

Filbert_Ross Posted 2 February 2012 Posted 2 February 2012 All very convenient that the trial is after the Euro's now ay.
Guest ttfn Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 Apparently the FA are going to strip him of the captaincy. Thank Christ for that. I know England are shite and this would never happen, but the thought of John Terry lifting the European Championship or World Cup aloft as captain of England makes me wretch. The fact that he was given the captaincy back in the first place was absurd. He is such a divisive character not only amongst the fans but doubtless in the dressing room as well. Players like that shouldn't even be in the squad, let alone in the team. And he's the freaking captain. Whether he was being racist or not, this can only be a good thing for English football.
AyewJoking Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 If Terry is found not guilty, will Ferdinand be punished for anything?

Terry shouldn't be captain because you don't like him
Darkon84 Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 What!? Terry shouldn't be captain because you don't like him No, because he's a cvnt
Darkon84 Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 Confirmed on SSN Terry stripped of captaincy. Wow. Didnt think they would really do it. He will probably end up getting it back in a couple of weeks for some unknown reason anyway.
Guest ttfn Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 What!? Terry shouldn't be captain because you don't like him I don't recall saying that. Terry shouldn't be England captain because in a team filled with reprehensible characters, he is the worst of the lot. Jason Roberts had it right when he described Terry's influence as "toxic"
Guest MattP Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 He shouldnt be captain for his previous stuff BUT to strip someone on the fact they might be found guilty is awful. Racism - the only crime where Inoocent until proven guilty is reversed.
marko Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 Well, it appears the FA have started used their brains and common sense in dealing with this. Although, i'm sure they prove me wrong when they ban Pearson for 3 games.
accessory Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 Because Gerrard led us so well at the World Cup didn't he? Give the armband to Joe Hart or Gareth Barry.
Corky Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 Hart also has time, fitness and regular position on his side too.
Guest ttfn Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 Parker as a short-term measure, then after Euro 2012, I'd like to see Micah Richards get it under a new manager.
fatmando Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 If JT stripped of captaincy (again), he shouldn't be in the dressing room at all imo. Creates a bad atmosphere from the off. He's a scumbag. Scotty Parker would be good choice to be fair I think.
Amin Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 I suppose Gerrard has to be given the armband for now, simply because he's the vice captain. In the long run I'd like to see Hart or Wilshire get it.
foxfanazer Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 Please don't give it Rooney ffs! I reckon Stevie g will get it for euros. Terry should definitely be in the squad!
Tielemans63 Posted 3 February 2012 Posted 3 February 2012 Mixed feelings on this - part of me is glad because I detest JT and think he should never have been captain anyway because a captain should lead by example. On the other hand, Matt is quite right to say that you can't strip him of his role on the basis that he might be guilty. Classic FA incompetency. As for the captain for the Euros - who knows? Not convinced by any of the candidates. It's a shame Michael Dawson doesn't have more caps - he strikes me as being an excellent captain and s decent fella too.
