Lee Clark ( with a director of football) ?

That really shouldn't be the yardstick though. Keane and Grant would be woeful appointments, just because Clark is a better choice than them, it doesn't mean he's a good one.

We should be going with proven managers, in this league preferably.

I don't know what Top is thinking if he appoints Clark, it doesn't make any sense.

Ok, so tell us who you would appoint in this league? And anyone having a decent season would more than likely not be interested and want to concentrate on their own jobs at their current clubs... Would you leave somewhere where your doing a decent job, probably a lot more job security than they would here, and have a more settled team, and a chance of achieving promotion with the teams they are already at! Would be madness to leave somewhere, come here and if it doesn't go well they will be out if a job very quickly!

Clark has pedigree as a player, is doing a decent job at huddersfield... I think it's kinda refreshing for a club to look to someone they think is right fornthe job other than just a big name... Didn't quite work as planned with Sven did it?

Have faith! Stay positive :)

Good god, give up... Sven had a plan and he didn't get the time needed for it to click. And don't talk about a season spoiled thirteen games in. :frusty:

Were we in relegation or too far from playofff/automatic. We probably won against West Ham if he was at charge but that doesn't count because Millwall beat us........

If its true (and i am NOT having a go), this will be quite an interesting change, from one of the worlds MOST recognisable managers, to one of the worlds least.

That's a bit harsh??? Who cares how well known he is... Surely it's his ability to manage a football club that counts? The way he gets his teams playing for him, motivated and hard to beat!

I think some people have no real understanding of how football works... You dont best teams just because you have big name players, big name managers or how well known your club is... Look at genk v Chelsea... Should no way have been 1-1 on paper, just like we were favourites for promotion at the start of the season!

It doesn't work like that

But we only had one plan? Everyone knows you need to have different plans to get results... He couldn't motivate the players either!

I agree 13 games is nothing but there was having trust in your system, and there is plain ignorance of not being able to change the game! We got sussed out on how to play against us...

Been announced on wiki that he has taken over as Leicester manager :-/

Anyway not to be trusted, however quick read through and he has won promotion from this division 3 times as a player which shows he knows what this division is all about..

Also regarding his record at Huddersfield! Took over half way through his first season, and they managed to finish 9th in his 1st ever season as a manager... Only lost 2 games at home that season too, second season (1st full season) got into play offs but lost in the semi's... Last season they finished 3rd and got to play off finals only to lose at the last hurdle!

You also have to remember the teams promoted from that division whilst he has been there!

His first season - Leicester, peterborough and Scunthorpe

2nd season - Norwich, Leeds, millwall

Last season - Brighton, Southampton, Peterborough

Some decent teams in there too..

Sure it is a risk (if appointed) but so is any appointment made... I think this could be a good move for us!

May seem underwhelming but I can certainly get behind him. Would rather have had MON, Hughes or Di Matteo (who I think would have been gettable) but in Clark we have a passionate guy, who will get his team playing nice football and possibly bring some talent from Hudders.

Not sure how some of the squad will react to this though.

That Wikipedia article is nothing, surprised the illiterate buffoon knew how to edit the website.

I don't trust anything on Wikipedia unless it's a proven fact. Anyone can edit it, so take with a pinch of salt for now.

I am excited about Lee Clark. Loved him as a footballer, and I love him as a manager. To be fair he has turned Hudddersfield around, and now they are one of the better sides in League 1. Obviously has a good record, and I see him as a manager that will get the players motivated every week. He looks like he can get the players in order, which is something we need as both Sven and Sousa did not look like the discipline type.

Huddersfield have picked up some fantastic wins as well; they beat Sheffield United away 0-3 this season for example.

Not sure why people would be dissapointed to be honest. I think Clark deserves the chance to manage at a higher level and could prove that is a good gamble. Remember, Martin O'Neill, Kenny Jackett, Paul Lambert, Gus Poyet and Nigel Adkins are all good examples of managers to come from the lower leagues and still enjoy success in this division.

Totally confident Clark will have contacts as well from his playing days. McDermott would have good contacts as well if he was brought in as assistant.

They have not worked together before.

It will never work and we will be back in the same situation next season..

There is only one person that I want to see at city and that is MON

Gone by the summer

Are you saying that because you don't want Lee Clark or because you don't think he will be good enough?

There is only one person that I want to see at city and that is MON

So do we all but he doesn't want the job!! I am 100% behind Lee Clark if he gets the job; he would be a fine choice for me.

We should be aiming higher than lee clark.

I seriously hoped im proved wrong.

I genuinely don't know where comments like that are coming from mate! People have to start somewhere and football history is littered with ex-players etc that didn't hack it in management. Lee Clerk is going to the top and wish you lot weren't trying to prize him away from us. I had hoped he'd take us to the top level but if all the media speculation and rumours are true it's Leicester City who are in for a very bright future.

I agree with that. If people can't get behind the (potential) manager now, I can't bare to think what reaction they will give if we loose a game.

Good luck for the rest of the season, with out without Lee Clark. I got a soft spot for Huddersfield.

Huddersfield Town

@jdl003 @seanmjarvis smj talked about it on radio leeds tonite. Nothing new to report - no approach from Leicester - if there was we'd say

The Huddersfield Town commercial director on twitter says there has been no contact with LCFC and that you shouldn't believe you read everything in the papers.

This club needs an upcoming, young manager with something to prove and a determination to get results. The likes of Little, McGhee, O'Neill and Adams all came to us in that vein and all had degrees of success. Time to go back to that formula again.

Couldn't agree more, and OGS would be right at the top of that pile.

Up and coming managers with something to prove just like Taylor, Holloway, Levein, Allen, Sousa. People talk as though it's almost a fool proof formula going for younger managers.

Thrac, you have never even seen his team play so I find it amazing you can champion someone so much.

@SeanMJarvis

so why has Clark not denied he is in talks . In such a high profile transfer LCFC couldnt risk an under the table approach to poach another club's manager.
