I really don't feel any excitement about Clark coming, Hughes however I would be more than happy with. I just don't see Clark being a long term appointment

Fookin ridiculous, what is everyone's obsession with experience at this level?

Where did Fergie, Wenger & co manage before their big appointments, tin pot leagues of Scotland & at the time Japan, closer to home where did Little & O'Neill manage before joining us, Little was managing Donny before turning is from relegation candidates into regular promotion contenders before getting us up & O'Neill had managed Shepshed & Wycombe.

Sven had shit loads of experience which saw us taken a playoff squad (via a shit mgr for 9 games) to midtable mediocrity which despite spending up to £20m on transfers, fees & bumper contracts has been repeated again this season.

Clark isn't my preferred choice as I'd prefer Hughes or for an up & coming manager OGS, but it appears Clark can certainly manage.

All those other managers were successful at smaller clubs before getting big jobs.

A Hudders fan on Clark from sortitoutsi:

The football we play switches from direct and pragmatic where needed to being free-flowing and attacking. Our better attacking displays come against the better sides, against whom we just seem to step up a level, as opposed to grinding out wins against the likes of Stevenage.

Clark learns from his mistakes. Last year he twigged that he couldn't go to places like Brighton with two strikers, so we switched to one up top; this season he's been brave and used the 4-4-2 system even against the Sheffield Uniteds of the division (it threw them right off at their patch - we hammered them 3-0). It also goes without saying, given our record at the moment, but we are incredibly difficult to beat; even on off-days we're solid enough to adapt and get something out of it. The worst I've seen us play this season was up at Hartlepool, and there was no risk of us losing it unless they came up with something otherworldly, simply because our back 4 did its job superbly.

Don't post on here very often at all. Just been told Clark and keegan will be in charge come Sunday. And to hopefully expect the announcement tomorrow. Heard about Sousa and Sven from the same source before it happened so hopefully won't end up with egg on my face. And remember, don't shoot the messenger!!!

I think this could be good, Clark is proving to be a very good up and coming manager and Keegan has the contacts and experience. Clark could learn a lot off working with someone like Keegan.

Don't you think we be hiring somebody with the skills already?

There's already a Lee Clark thread & a Clark/Keegan thread

Merge pls mods

/thread

There's a Clark thread and a Clark with DOF suggestion, yes they do mention Keegan but nothing specific so I'd say in the scheme of things it probably, just about worthy of it's own topic.

Yep, that is the thinking if this happens.

Can't imagine Keegan playing second fiddle to anyone, let alone Lee Clark.

Me neither. He's never seemed that interested in returning to football anyway...but you never know.
