Daggers Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 What would Keegan actually do then? A very laudable life question but many people would say that asking what Jesus would do might get you further.
Guest MattP Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Surely If we wanted a DOF we may as well have just brought Sven a big chair upstairs..
Daggers Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Surely If we wanted a DOF we may as well have just brought Sven a big chair upstairs.. A number of people would say that this is the reason he left the club.
STUHILL Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 Surely If we wanted a DOF we may as well have just brought Sven a big chair upstairs.. Great point!! Think he would have accepted that role too as he genuinely seemed gutted he had to leave!! Fans would have been happy with that too surely as not may wanted to see him sacked
Matt Posted 29 October 2011 Posted 29 October 2011 I like the sound of Lee Clark (But not so much Kevin Keegan, however they may be good together) but I also like the sound of Mark Hughes but which is best?

Matt Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 Don't know if it's already been posted, or something similar; Huddersfield Town boss Lee Clark is prepared to talk to Leicester City about their vacancy.Clark has admitted for the first time that he could go to Leicester if the Foxes make an official approach. The Huddersfield manager is favourite to take the step up to the Championship from League One after a bid to bring back Martin O’Neill failed. Clark, 39, said: “If people come calling, you don’t know what the next stage is. But there has been no contact.” http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/huddersfield-boss-clark-invites-leicester-approach-2017881?utm_source=feed_newsnow
Terrier23 Posted 30 October 2011 Posted 30 October 2011 I hope he turns you down!!!, thats if you make him an offer - for several reasons, Town are playing great now, Fav to win league one and the players he has brought in have been great talents, one being Peltier that you signed this summer (Great player). Im praying that the sky bet odds change!... and over night mark hughes has shortened from 12/1 to almost even odds, clark it must be said is happy with us and more so the chairman, i think the play golf together etc, which is rare in football these days! Like i say however I hope you dont approach him! it would affect us and im sure he would try and take Jordan Rhodes with him! and we would see a repeat of the Marcus stewart days 10 years ago when we topped Division 1 and sold our best players costing us premiership football! Anyway good luck to you guys, but please keep off our man

Matt Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 LEE CLARK last night confirmed he’s still had no contact about the Leicester City job and emphasised the loyalties which strongly underpin his management of Town. The 39-year-old – whose side extended their unbeaten League I run to 41 matches with Saturday’s 1-0 win at Yeovil to keep them second – remains widely linked with the Championship club, who last week parted company with Sven-Goran Eriksson. Speculation has included a possible Clark-Kevin Keegan ‘dream team’ at the Foxes, but the Town boss insists he’s heard nothing. “I’m coming up to three years here in December and myself and my young family get treated unbelievably well at the football club by the people I work for and the people I work with,” said Clark. “I can’t speak about whether there is anything in these stories because I’ve had no contact, but if I did the first person I would pick up the phone to within seconds would be Dean Hoyle, to explain the situation. “He has become a good friend as well as my boss, and I’ve got too much respect for him not to do it that way – but there are many factors before we even reach that stage because this is just speculation and it might all be worthless. “The only thing I can guarantee at the moment is that I’m Huddersfield Town manager, I love my job, I love the group of players I work with and I love the staff at the club – not just my backroom team but all the people behind the scenes at the club. “I know I am a lucky man as manager to have a man like Dean Hoyle backing me – and that might not be so easy to walk away from, even if these stories were proved to be right.” Read More http://www.examiner.co.uk/huddersfield-town-fc/huddersfield-town-news/2011/10/31/huddersfield-town-boss-lee-clark-dean-s-backing-not-easy-to-walk-away-from-86081-29688574/#ixzz1cLdaK5UC
Babylon Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Don't know if it's already been posted, or something similar; http://www.tribalfootball.com/articles/huddersfield-boss-clark-invites-leicester-approach-2017881?utm_source=feed_newsnow I'm sick and tired of reading shitty reporting like this. The conclusion the writer comes to bear no resemblance to what the man actually said. Even more infuriating is the idiots who then read the headlines and repeat it as truth, rather than the words between the quote marks. (I'm not talking about you Matt, it's been bugging more for a week now).
Fox 4 Life Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 If top was worried about Sven not signing enough big names how the hell does he think Lee fooking Clark is going to do any better. Farcical appointment if true, he is a league one manager who has zero experience managing a club with the size of expectation of LCFC
cc_star Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Would prefer Hughes over Clark he's had the experience of playing at the highest level to gain respect from players & did really well at Wales, Blackburn & Fulham. Hughes doesn't seem like he would suffer poor performances lightly & carry on picking those players regardless. Huddersfield fans dont seem overly bothered about losing Clark as he has had quality backing for 3 years & still not got them up, although a few obviously do like him as there's a good chance this time around.
Guest bennytwohats Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 Hughes was tactically inept. He couldn't get City a top 4 finish with plenty of time and unlimited money, also showed he's got absolutely no sticking power after quitting fulham after a year in charge. Is he really the man? The more I consider the new man, the more absurd the decision to get rid of Sven looks.

Where did Fergie, Wenger & co manage before their big appointments, tin pot leagues of Scotland & at the time Japan, closer to home where did Little & O'Neill manage before joining us, Little was managing Donny before turning is from relegation candidates into regular promotion contenders before getting us up & O'Neill had managed Shepshed & Wycombe. Sven had shit loads of experience which saw us taken a playoff squad (via a shit mgr for 9 games) to midtable mediocrity which despite spending up to £20m on transfers, fees & bumper contracts has been repeated again this season. Clark isn't my preferred choice as I'd prefer Hughes or for an up & coming manager OGS, but it appears Clark can certainly manage.
Wherethefoxhat? Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 What would Keegan actually do then? .......and could he work with Gus Poyet ????

The more I consider the new man, the more absurd the decision to get rid of Sven looks. He wasn't the ManCity owner's man, he was always going as soon as someone else became available, he walked out of Fulham as they wouldn't back him to take them further, just like O'Neill walking out of Villa after having been told players would be sold. Spurs spent miles more to finish 4th, of course he spent a bit but nowhere near what Mancini later had available to crack the top 4.

Feel free to say exactly how... he did a fantastic job at Wales , blackburn and briefly at fulham He had 1 full season plus the 1st 4 months of the 2nd at man city so i wouldn't exactly call that plenty of time to get them in the top 4 when he had to start building an entire new team with the new money that was just coming in Surely what he achieved at blackburn and fulham is more relivent to us anyway as they are clubs of a similar stature

Spurs spent miles more to finish 4th, of course he spent a bit but nowhere near what Mancini later had available to crack the top 4. Load of rubbish, he had a year and a half at City after the money started rolling in and they looked nowhere near to contending for top 4. They had a great set of players regardless and massively underachieved, because tactically they were woeful, let's not brush over the fact he paid 17.5m for Roque Santa Cruz as well, and couldn't keep their big squad happy. He walked out of Fulham most likely because he was after the Villa job, at no point did he say it was about resources, he said he wanted to move on to a new challenge and get more experience and thought his job at Fulham was over because they got Europa again. It's not at all comparable to MON at Villa - who, after several years at the club building the team. was actually having all his best players sold on - he was competing for a CL place which he was never going to get given the situation. He'd **** us off as soon as a better opportunity came along, and I don't think he is the man to get us promotion.

I disagree completely about City, during his time there I was studying in Manchester and went down to loads of City's games. They had players like Robinho, Tevez, Adebayor, Toure, Bridge, Given, Johnson, Barry, Kompany, Zabaleta, Richards etc. etc. it's not like that's not a capable squad. Half of them are pretty much still first team starters.
lcfclee1978 Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 money has come big time for lee clark, looks like he's going to be our man.

He only knows what we know I'm leaning towards Hughes but Clarks passion and "obsession" I've heard about could be just what we need at the moment
ealingfox Posted 31 October 2011 Posted 31 October 2011 I will be disappointed with Lee Clark, can't deny it. I feel like Mark Hughes would be a much better choice. But of course I will be behind him 100% if he comes in.
