Lee Clark ( with a director of football) ?

From what I see of him he is very determined, applied, focused individual, a manager very much in the MON mould, I am certain he will do a job here.

I get what you're saying but I'm not sure about Di Matteo, best decision West Brom made to replace him with Hodgson. Like many, O'Neill and Hughes would have been my first choice but with those two seemingly unwilling to manage a tier down, I say give this bloke a good chance if he gets the gig.

If true, it's not who I was longing for (O'Neill, Hughes or Pearson) but at least it's not Keane, Grant, Jones or somebody else similarly awful.

He's done a good job at Huddersfield and he has got something about him. It's a big risk for both us and him, but I've a sneaky feeling it could be a masterstroke.

I'm underwhelmed by the appointment (if true), but I'll give him a chance. Seems to have done a decent enough job with Huddersfield.

Also very impressed with Top for not just going with a 'name'. It would have been easy to do that. He's obviously seen something in Clark, hopefully we shall in time too.

Great point actually!!! Do wonder if his first choices were too much of a stretch though but I guess we will never know the full story about who was interviewed and offered the job.

Shows Top will take a risk on an unknown name and he isnt just in it for the marketing in Thailand

Every paper had it that he was sacked, I never believe that site but hope its true cause i want clark in charge! Or Billy Davies

To be fair, the Mirror used to be pretty well informed about us back in the Mandaric era. Not sure if that's the case now, but the article seems pretty plausible.

If it is Clark, it will be nice to have a manager who seems to want to earn his place at the top. My biggest concern with Hughes and O'Neill was that if a prem club came knocking they would be off.

If Robson was involved in the beginning he probably suggestetd Hughes as Sven's successor or Keane because of their history with Manure.

This look very much like the Man City deal. Get a foreign owner and Sven as manager to use his contacts. Afterwards get rid of Sven and get a Manure manager like Hughes instead. We can't let Sven get one more over Fergie do we.

Not quite sure why some are so negative about this possible appointment. Compared to Keane and Grant it is a breath of fresh air.

It also goes back to our successful previous modus operandai of employing young, hungry, up and coming managers which gave us our best years until we broke with that formula and went with Peter Taylor.

It also means one of my favourite correspondents, Marbella Dave will still come and watch the lads.

That really shouldn't be the yardstick though. Keane and Grant would be woeful appointments, just because Clark is a better choice than them, it doesn't mean he's a good one.

We should be going with proven managers, in this league preferably.

I don't know what Top is thinking if he appoints Clark, it doesn't make any sense.

Getting the club in the Premiership will do more for their company's profile than any high-profile name ever would.

Little and O'Neill (apart from 4 months at Norwich) had never managed at this level either. Good managers can manage at any level.

If it's true about Clark - whether or not Keegan comes with him - I think it's a great appointment. I would have preferred Davies or Jones because they've taken similar sized clubs into the play-offs and up before but this guy has stood out more and more for me.

I don't care what league it is, 41 unbeaten is outstanding. He's taken a season or two to build up a very good footballing side there. This club needs an upcoming, young manager with something to prove and a determination to get results. The likes of Little, McGhee, O'Neill and Adams all came to us in that vein and all had degrees of success. Time to go back to that formula again.

If its true (and i am NOT having a go), this will be quite an interesting change, from one of the worlds MOST recognisable managers, to one of the worlds least.

I don't usually make any kind of judgment either way when we change managers, I'm much more of a wait and see type of guy. In this case I'll make an exception. This guy is a proper, proper person as well as a very talented young manager. He wants to do things the right way, very forward thinking and has more desire than Sven in a brothel. I don't know if he'll get us up and be a huge success but I'm willing to get 100% behind him as he tries.

Totally agree with this. He looks a good manager, has had 3 very good seasons with what was, to be honest, not the best Huddersfield team in the world when he joined. Plays football the right way, knowledgeable and has some passion. I'm fully behind him or OGS as the best bets.

Too big a manager and we are too small. He is doing the job in a very competive div below us and was unlucky twice in the playoffs. Unlucky in the playoffs? I'll take that over where we are now and where we finished last season.

Can't see this helping us at all, his inexperience is not what we need at the moment, we need a firm hand who is not only experienced, but knows this league inside out. I can't see Clark dealing with the pressure, plus can he handle

Money? I would much rather see Davies in than clark simply because under Davies your pretty much guaranteed a top six finish. I will fully support him if he does get appointed, But I won't get my hopes up about promotion.

We have a great team and one reason he is a good manager is that he's thinking the same way as the majority of our players, only 39 years. He's a midfielder and knows what to do with a good midfield. How many midfielders do we have?

He's promoted from this league and according to quite a few posters this is more importent than having contacts.

i would much prefer Lee Clark to Billy Davies. I think he has the right idea to try and make his teams hard to beat

That's what Sven did, sadly we needed wins not bore draws. Negativity does not suit the players we've got beause they are superior in most games, so I hope whoever comes in plays psoitive football and tries to WIN. This is when we've played well.

Agreed from that point of view
