Happy Fox Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 Not saying he couldn't do a job but come on he's in league one ffs i thought the idea of getting rid of Sven was to get someone better! We have been down the high profile route and look where that got us, Lee Clark is a very much in the MON mould his ability to get diamonds and nurture them into stars i.e Lee Peltier.
tomtom Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 Not saying he couldn't do a job but come on he's in league one ffs i thought the idea of getting rid of Sven was to get someone better! Agreed Did anyone else see the thing on him and huddersfield on football focus last week ?? I really wasn't impressed

Agree but staring from scratch! We already have good players we just need to play the right formation for a start. Lee Clark has the highest wage bill in league one and he STILL hasn't got them up I think its four seasons now what makes people so sure he can do it with us.

Shame he's not had two successive promotions and a narrow miss on a third like Mr O'Neil in his early career. I hope the fans are patient then, I mean it's only taken him three years to reach second place in league one with one of the largest, if not largest budget in the league. They should also get used to drawing games, 40 games unbeaten and you don't get promoted or even top of the league? Must be a heck of a lot of 1 points gained in there. If it's him good luck, I really hope it works. But I cannot see how he's the "instant fix" the Thais seem to want.
Happy Fox Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 I personally want Billy Davies, but whether the Thais do remains to be seen.

And therein lies the problem - "quick fixes" seldomly work out, especially in this division. Which was the last Championship/First Division team to get promotion after sacking their manager at the end of October? Palace under Dowie? Also, I bet fans will have their own definition of "quick".
Master Fox Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 Hope we interview Gary Megson as well. This ^ And the fact we've asked to speak to LEE CLARKE......wow!!!! It's so exciting. Things can only get better.
Babylon Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 Which was the last Championship/First Division team to get promotion after sacking their manager at the end of October? Palace under Dowie? Probably because managers usually get sacked when they are more than two points off the play offs.

That's a really interesting point. If sacking Sven means that building, carefully, isn't an option, (which I think is how many of us interpret his departure), then presumably the new incumbent has to deliver .... and very quickly. Is that man Clark ? Personally, I just can't see that. If he's to be given an extra season, why wasn't Sven ? Just how bad were things behind the scenes ? Like many on here, I just don't see how the appointment can be anyone but a hard nose who will come in and hit the ground running. i think I might cry if that's Keane, but even so, surely that's a better short-term startegy than Clark ? If Clark is the better long-term startegy, then surely it should have been Sven !!! etc etc etc

But lets face it, we weren't progressing.
dannythefox Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 We need to make sure the next man can get us up so why would Lee Clark be on the list!
Ric Flair Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 This would be an absurd gamble. I cannot get my head around this at all, fair enough if we didn't have the ambition that the Thai's have or the expectation and that Sven had done a shocking job, but none of that is the case. If Sven was to be removed it was for a manager who could nigh on GUARANTEE they could get us up this season, someone of high calibre with a lot of experience, not a young manager with potential it just doesn't make any sense. I would rather have Billy Davies than Clark and that's saying something. I am starting to get very concerned about the Thai's knowledge of football right now. I don't doubt their intentions but if they make the wrong decisions then a lot of money is going to be wasted and a lot of hearts broken. FOOK SAKE!

I don't doubt their intentions but if they make the wrong decisions then a lot of money is going to be wasted and a lot of hearts broken. Someone will be advising them, the chances are they have never heard of Clarke. So I'm more worried about who they choose to advise them, than their knowledge as I'd already taken it for granted they don't know a huge amount. Maybe it's Andrew Neville, maybe it's an outside source. Who knows.

Babylon Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 We need to make sure the next man can get us up so why would Lee Clark be on the list! There are no guarantees though, but someone like Davies has a record of consistently getting teams to the play offs in this division, and sometimes very quickly after taking over. Clark has had three years there. Anyway, Top said we want someone with experience of this league. So I can't believe he's the man.
TrentFox Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 Maybe they will give someone time, IF they actually see any progress. But lets face it, we weren't progressing. Hope you are right. Never been a fan of 'quick fix' thinking - firmy agree we had temporarily stopped progressing under Sven. But the nuances of elite leadership are subtle. The decision the owners seem to be making, if you are right, is that a Clark or whoever (with potential talent) can grow the team faster than a Sven (with long record and undeniable contacts). No idea which is right, just think it's a really big call. But that's why the Raksriaksorn's run the club and the rest of us dream of doing so ! Finger crossed for a positive day.
seenitall Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 Maybe 'Top' reads this message board and realised lots of the people on here wanted Sven out and hoped to endear himself to you all - oops
Happy Fox Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 JamesNursey James Nursey Told #Hudderfield boss Lee Clark is man #LCFC #Leicester want after O'Neill said no. bit.ly/tA2VdZ Foxes want a young dynamic boss

MrSpaM Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 I'm glad people arnt spelling his surname Clarke now
Ric Flair Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 I'm glad people arnt spelling his surname Clarke now Haha that was starting to make me hate the man even more!
Tielemans63 Posted 28 October 2011 Posted 28 October 2011 I'm glad people arnt spelling his surname Clarke now We just have to work on Billy DaviEs now!

Lee Clark is a bright young manager... the jump to Leicester may to be soon..and our squad has its share of plonkers who need a tough head to bring them into line...IMO This is being discussed on Talk Sport this morning btw
