Same likewise cannot see us getting into the playoffs at this current moment, which is quite abysmal with the money we have spent when the goal was automatic promotion set by the Thais

Plus there are better options Martin "The Messiah" O'Neill, Mark Hughes and Roberto Di Matteo to name 3 ottomh

I don't think they are options though - for one reason or another, hence the approach for Big Nige.

we can easy get eh play offs.. jeez..

2 week break now. new manager can come in and sort things..

we have a BIG decent squad who just needs a bit of motivation and organisation

add to that a couple of players like a winger and we can storm up the league..

the otehrs around/above us may be there or there abouts but we have the squad to last teh FULL season doing it...

As someone who commented on the story on the sky sports post, Pearson has unfinished business here, and the things the Hull fans have said on there are ridiculous, they're obviously jealous because LCFC are a bigger and better club! :scarf:

I can't believe that there's such a large number of fans who wouldn't welcome NP back into the club. After years of utter shite, he together with Steve Walsh's scouting network and Shakespeare put pride, belief, and togetherness back into the club, and led us to 2 seasons where we achieved, and maybe even exceeded the expectations set.

If it hadn't been for Lee Hoos he would have no doubt signed a better contract during his second year and things may have been so different.

Hull's reported refusal to allow talks between us and him probably mean that unfortunately we won't be getting him back - although his radio interview may have provided hints that he'd consider a return, the way he spoke about loyalty when at Leicester, and how his departure came about I don't see him breaking a contract where he's not given permission to talk to another team.

The fact that we may well have to look elsewhere is a real shame, There's no doubt at all in my mind that Pearson would make a positive difference quickly.

Also, as i was walking out of the stadium from my kiosk we had to walk by the pitch, the fans in the boxes were singing 'there's only one Nigel Pearson' hopefully Top was taking note if he was still there

You must be joking right? even if we do get into the playoffs positions throughout the whole season we always buckle under pressure and then remain in a midtable position. Automatic promotion isn't going to happen if we keep on having inconsistent results.

The owners have made a monumental cock up in not getting MON, Pearson is standard you will know what you get from him he will get us into the playoffs which is a lottery, MON would deliver automatic promotion I am absolutely certain of that.

I'm being put off the idea of Pearson. He was great for us but it is true that we are a different proposition now. Is the job too big for him? Is it the kind of job he would succeed in? Getting a team into the play-offs when there was no expectation is one thing, getting an under pressure side challenging for the top 2 is another matter. Will he be able to adapt his style of football?

He needs to hit the ground running. If we lose many more games in the next couple of months we'll be really up against it.

The team needs to play a completely different style of football to that which we played under Sven and Pearson. Flowing, pacey, attacking football is not a desire but a necessity. The style of football we played under Pearson wasn't terrible (most of the time) but it was a bit one dimensional. Can he get us playing the kind of stuff Swansea, Norwich, QPR, Southampton, etc have played in this league? If we have any hopes of the top 2 (and I appreciate many don't) then that is a must.

My first choice is now Billy Davies. Forest played with pace and as a team. These are our 2 main weaknesses. We are just a group of slow individuals, the strikers have pace (apart from Howard) but this is not very helpful when we need to create chances for them, as teams rarely play a high line against us. We need pace out wide and whether we have that or not, we need to start playing as a unit, fighting for each other, believing in the manager and knowing what to do when they get the ball. This is the impressaion I got from Davies' Forest.

Exactly to be succesful in this division you need pace coherently throughout the side I would prefer Billy Davies to NP

I am not sure that even MON would have the time to get this team playing together quickly enough to catch the top 2 who are averaging practically 2 points a game. Play Offs is the best we can hope for I'm afraid. There are a few players that are going to have to be sacrificed too as we need to drastically improve in midfield. NP or MON, the only two linked that I think can turn our season around. MON should gain instant respect because of his stature in the game and NP is known and trusted by a lot of the players still at the club.

Even if he wanted a short term contract till the end of the season he would guarantee promotion NP won't imo, so it begs the question why were the owners not willing to meet his assurances.

i agree 100% but i just think he wouldnt come because he wouldnt want to tarnish his reputation i mean if he came and we finished maybe 7th or 8th his career may suffer if he wanted a prem job

Can't be bothered to read through 11 pages but I'v been told he will most probably resign.

I hope so, he basically then has a few months to get some shape and style drilled into them, and potentially ship in/out in the Jan transfer window.

If we can go on a run in the new year, we might make the playoffs - IF, only IF we get someone in sharpish.

Sorry but no one can guarantee promotion. He might do well he might not. Until we play as a team it wouldn't matter who was manager we won't go up. Pearson actually has a better record at turning things around in a short space of time than MON. Look at his record at Southampton where he saved them from relegation, then here and also what he has done at Hull though that has taken longer. Though MON did miracles here his first 8 games were awful. We need someone to turn things round in about 1 month to have a good chance of making the play offs and Pearson has a track record in doing that.

Personally I think knocking on NP's door is a big step back for the club and just underlines how little progress has been made here under the Thai owners. After reports of Martin O'Neill and Mark Hughes, I'm afraid we have to assume that this means all of our top targets said 'no', and that the owners - clearly out of their depth and out of ideas - have resorted to the rather populist decision of appointing a sucessful former manager.

I think NP did a great job here given the circumstances, but I have to say by the end of his time here I was still unconvinced about whether he could actually take us to the Premier League. Sure, he'll get the team organised and tighten up the defence, but is that going to be enough?

The defining moment in NP's time at Leicester for me was the first leg of the play-off semi-final against Cardiff. Playing at home, we should have taken the initiative and tried to establish a goal or two's lead before the next tie. Instead, he stayed cautious and put out a very negative team, trying to contain Cardiff without really trying to take the game to them. I just couldn't believe my eyes - it was like we were playing for the draw. As it turns out, we played spectacularly in the next game and came very close - but we could, probably should, have gone through.

Let's not view NP's time here with rose-tinted specs. He did the job demanded of him, there's no question of that. But I really can't see him lighting up the league in the way the owners seem to want.

Are you insane.

You don't know he was even interested, he may well have just said no and that was the end of it.

And nobody guarantees promotion.
