STUHILL Posted 15 November 2011 Posted 15 November 2011 HAHA I love how people dismiss what Pearson achieved in League 1. The amount of pressure he was under to WIN the league was immense and there were some good battling teams down there that saw Leicester as a massive scalp. Pearson did brilliant and people who said HE failed in the playoffs the following season are crazy! We were one kick away from Wembley with a fairly average squad!! Why are names like Adams being brought up too? This was a completely different era and squad and challenge!! Fair enough I get people are getting annoyed at fans who are being overly optimistic but all this negativity around a guy who has done well wherever he has been is just crazy! He may not play attacking, free flowing football but I do believe he is a clever man and one who is keen to learn and I'm sure he can adapt if he has the quality in playing staff to do so. Look at Holloway, under us he was negative and a shambles, whereas with Blackpool, he changed his style and turned them in to a great frree-flowing attacking team. People can change!!! Not saying he will suddenly become an Arsene Wenger but I'm sure he can have us playing attacking football as well as keeping us solid at the back!! Lets just see what he can do! He deserves this chance!!!
Fox92 Posted 15 November 2011 Posted 15 November 2011 If anyone can get these overpaid gimps playing consistently well, then it's Pearson. I agree. I think he will bring discipline and have the ability to motivate well, way better than Sven could. "overpaid gimps"

smudgerfox Posted 15 November 2011 Posted 15 November 2011 Oddly the one thing that is most likely to scupper NFP and make true the predictions of his opponents is the one thing all LCFC fans seem to hate the most and that's prima donna players. I suspect there's a sizeable portion of the squad who won't take kindly to his bluntness and lack of pretension - Sven is renowned for running an easy-going regime for players - and if early results don't go NFP's way it wouldn't be difficult to imagine a dressing room revolt against the NFP regime which would sabotage any play off hopes and in turn place him in any danger. The key weather-vane players are likely to be:Beckford;Bamba;Schmeichel;Pantsil; St Ledger;Fernandes; Johnson. They're all strong characters who could cause a hell of a lot of disruption.
cc_star Posted 15 November 2011 Posted 15 November 2011 That's all very well but the anti Pearsons once again fail to look at things fairly, meaning the others feel the need to defend. Look at the players Adams had. I'm sure Pearson wished he had a team that contained Walker, Sinclair, Taggart, Elliott, Izzet, Scowcroft, Dickov, Deane. Scowcroft probably cost more than than our starting 11 alone. Just because X manager got more points on the board than someone else doesn't mean they did a better job. Adams did a great job, but what Pearson did is comparable considering where we were when he took over and the fact he created the squad whilst turning a profit in the transfer market. Yep, stats are nothing without context Taking over a team on the slide, bouncing from manager to manager spending year after year in the doldrums is very different from managing a team of Premiership players in the Championship, as West Ham are doing now, just ask Newcastle, ManCity, Forest & Leeds how easy it is to get out of the 3rd tier at the first time of asking, never-mind winning the division.

I don't see Schmeichel or Bamba being problems - they appear to be dedicated professionals who have tied themselves to the Leicester project. The other 4 I'm not sure about, but they are all dispensible, and I'm sure Pearson will give them short shrift should they cause trouble. The priority is for Pearson to get the reliable members of the squad onside and to get them playing well together, and for each other, as the nucleus of the team. The rest will follow. Or am I being over-optimistic?
surrifox Posted 15 November 2011 Posted 15 November 2011 they are all probably on such eye watering salaries that we are stuck with them so they will either toe the line and play or be loaned out somewhere.
Corky Posted 15 November 2011 Posted 15 November 2011 Schmeichel doesn't come across as a prima donna to me, nor does Bamba. His style of play may be flamboyant but not all flair players are problematic.
