Hull Post Match

After being at the game & watching the highlights I think it was a penalty, Mills was stupid to trip Mclean up, especially after a decent 1st challenge which stopped Mclean's progress and momentum going towards goal. I don't think it was a red card though, it wasn't a guaranteed chance on goal as Kasper would have been charging out towards the ball. The red card really did kill us though, stopped us getting any control on the game.

Was a good effort from the boys second half though defended really well and it only took a long range effort to beat us so I don't think we can be too disappointed. Highlights on FLS were a joke though, one line from the commentator make me laugh in the second half: "Barmby would be pretty pleased with how Hull have used their man advantage in the second half". Well all they did was play crab like football for 45 minutes going from side to side, so if that's impressive he must be easily pleased.

Hard to criticize the effort from the boys but Danns & Wellens didn't have good games when they had the ball, lost it when it was so important to keep it. bring on P'boro and 3 points!

Just seen the highlights and it makes me feel sick watching Koren score, all that time we held tight and then to give arguably their best player so much space is really poor.

Definite penalty and as for the card I'm a little unsure which is the right call to be honest, so not going to say the ref made the wrong call.

Still annoyed that Hobbs didn't get at least a yellow for his hauling down of Nugent, oh and the fact that the FLS didn't even bother to show it.

Swear we actually sounded louder celebrating our goal then they did on their first.

Finish was even better on the replay then what I thought too, love a bit of Konch.

Face facts, Pearson got selection WRONG. How can any manager believe that Wellens, King, Dyer, Gallagher and Danns are all better than Fernandes, Abe and Johnson.

Is Nigel out of his depth? Our problem has been the midfield for many years - it still is. Apart from King, Nigel's favourites are all Division one players, and no better than that. Believe it, it is the truth. The major difference between this team and the second half of last season's team is the goalkeeper. The midfield is the same. We will go nowhere with Wellens, Gallagher, Danns and Dyer getting regular match time. It should be very limited for all of them. Midfield selection preferences should be given to King, Abe, Fernandes, Johnson, Bamba and Peltier. ( Defensive cover could come from Pantsil, St Ledger, and Tunchev ).

Well, presumably because it was the inclusion of Fernandes, Abe and Johnson in our midfield (and their pisspoor performances) that got Sven the sack in the first place?

Personally, I see the inclusion of the Pearson old-guard (Gallagher, Dyer, King, et al.) as rather depressing proof of how little we have improved in the 18 months since he left. And you know what? After two home wins, one away draw and one away loss, the performance of 'Pearson's old favourites' is no worse than the midfield assembled (at a greater cost) by Sven.

Pearson clearly doesn't rate Sven's midfield signings. And I don't think it's because he endorses cronyism - I just think he doesn't rate them.

My musings on Mills' madness moment:

I don't think it was deliberate, if it was he deserves to go. To deliberately trip someone up like that in a threatening position has to be a red card even if Schmeichel would have got there first you can't leg someone up in front of goal and not expect to be sent off.

Everytime I see I am not sure it was deliberate, in slow motion it is not clear, you can't really see where Mills is looking and his reaction to getting sent off is complete shock, he is either a very good actor or genuinely couldn't believe he had been sent off. I don't think McClean left his foot in to catch it, I think it was a genuine accident, has Mills said anything about it?

What's done is done and Mills is walking on thin ice at the moment, SSL is breathing down his neck and NP might want to bring someone in in Jan, but he deserves another chance and shouldn't be written off yet.

Would be happy to see Kasper as Captain during his suspension, and if SSL and Bamba play well I don't think he should walk back in to the team.

Fully agree, who would have thought it.

It seems that even with Svens midfield signings that we have taken a step backward in this department.

We are clearly no better than we were a couple of seasons ago.

For a team chasing promotion we could and should be getting better players.

Very disappointing to lose late on, I thought we'd done enough to get a point but a bit of quality beat us. The sending-off naturally had a big impact on the game and I thought Mills was unlucky having made a great block just before.

Neither side created many chances, Kasper made a couple of good saves and we didn't really threaten after half-time.

A first defeat for Pearson and an opportunity to bounce back next week.

Pearson needs to sort our away form out, its unacceptable and really unfair on all you guys who take up your evening or weekend getting to these games as well as the amount of money it costs you. For a Club as big as ours it isn't good enough.

Hull fans were embarrassing today, never seen anyone celebrate scraping a win against 10 men that much.

They were quite a confused bunch, they seemed very happy that Pearson had gone and very bitter that he'd gone in two songs.

What a disgraceful set of highlights. So Fryatt's nothing shout for a penalty and Rosenior's poor control are better highlights than maybe showing us the clumsy barging of Hobbs into the back of Nugent when he was clean through? Or Dyer's appeal in the second half? Or when Gallagher could have squared it to Fernandes?

Pretty sure there were more chances we have 11 vs 11 too. There was only one story they wanted to tell there.

That really annoyed me. Nugent did so well to get away from one defender to then be hauled down with Hobbs nowhere near the ball.

When you saw some of the petty free-kicks the ref gave and he failed to give a blatant one you wonder what's going on.

Mills is a fcuking liability.

He's been,at best, mediocre since his shocker V Reading first game of season.

Just when he seems to be half decent he messes up again.

If Bam,ba had fcuked up as much as Mills then people would be calling for Bamba to be shot.

Mills has given away pens,'passed" the ball to opposition attackers who have scored direttly from his"pass"

And to give him the Captains armband is a disgrace.

See ya....

After analyzing Mill's challenge, he is actually really unlucky. First challenge is Fantastic, gets across his man and gets a toe on it, but then the ball bounces of the lad really awkwardly Mills is a human being and most's reaction to that situation would be to stick a leg out, Schmichel may have had it covered, but I think his natural instincts kicked in and he just stuck a leg out trying to block the ball. So I think all of this criticism is harsh.
