Finchy Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 Hull fans were embarrassing today, never seen anyone celebrate scraping a win against 10 men that much.
EnderbyFox Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 Hull fans were embarrassing today, never seen anyone celebrate scraping a win against 10 men that much. This. Just goes to show, people complain about our home atmosphere all the time, but there is much worse out there!
Guest safetosurfthisbeach Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 Went to the game today. Observations:- Our fans were superb We were a bit unlucky not to get a point The ref pretty much got it right Bamba superb Mills is a liability, he has done this before and will do it again
Fox92 Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 Hull fans were embarrassing today, never seen anyone celebrate scraping a win against 10 men that much. Agree... they all come running down to the bottom of the stand like it was a Cup Final. They were not even singing for most of the match (only when they were winning).
Thracian Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 The sending off's we've had this season will undoubtedly come back to haunt us at the end of the season. I reckon they've cost us 4 points already! Three what I'd call winnable home games in December and Doncaster away makes 12 points from the next four games a distinct possibility. Won't be easy but it's what we need to consolidate our place in the top 6. Here we go again putting points on the board before they've been won. People did it last season and looked foolish in the end. Doncaster beat Southampton today and, far from being a certain win for us, they'd probably love another scalp like that. And, from the sound of even our first half-hour performance today I can't see why they'd not fancy their chances. .
lovelcfc Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 Just got back from the game the players put in a huge effort fair play didnt understand why he bought gally on when howard could hold the ball up dull city fans were pathetic. tbh they were a decent team average championship team really. Good goal there second tho tbf the red card was a huge turning point tbh thought overall we played well
Narborough_fox Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 Sick as a parrot. 3 or 4 things; Danns was shit. Gallagher was shit. Wellens was shit. Konchesky was awesome. Bamba's a liability.
Fox92 Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 Sick as a parrot. 3 or 4 things; Danns was shit. Gallagher was shit. Wellens was shit. Konchesky was awesome. Bamba's a liability. Lets face it, all the team were very poor. The only players that can take something from this game, in my opinion, are Konchesky and probably Kasper. I would also add Mills to the highlighted part of your post. St. Ledger in every week for me.
Guy Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 Do do do do do do, Matty Fryatt! I wouldn't worry too much lads (&lasses?!), it was sort of written in the stars to go against us today - perhaps it's a reverse scenario for us of when McGhee quit us for Wolves in 1995 and we beat them in all respects that season in the end under O'Neill and reached the play offs, which was the prelude to the finest period in our history thereafter of course! I don't think such history will repeat itself in a reverse sense for Hull though as I think we'll easily finish ahead of them. Being more objective perhaps. I think this otherwise almost "fated" loss to aggrieved Hull was just a one off - even though Mills getting another sending off wasn't I suppose, neither was Koren's penchant of scoring against us......again! Otherwise very little to worry about and lest we forget, the top two both lost! We were defo. worth a point from what I heard - which would have been something of an achivement with just 10 men on the pitch but the lap of the Gods still ensured otherwise me thinks. Next game is v.winnable, as are the next four thereafter, especially Ipswich at home on Boxing Day on current form. Up the Foxes!!
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 Didn't have a good view to see the red, but the ref was poor otherwise anyway. Still, that's what we have come to expect anyway. Konchesky was quality, and nobody played particularly bad, Nugent ran his socks off and it just wasn't the same without him upfront. Wish Gallagher would have squared it to Fernandes but he was a greedy twat. Knew it would be a long shot from Koren that would win it, just knew it. Oh well, can't argue with the performance, would have been 3 or 4 under Sven Hey, I told you that. Dont take the glory. Least them scoring made sure you got your train on time!

St. Ledger in every week for me. Aye, totally agree. Thing that stood out for me though with Bamba today was these little runs which got him nowhere and needlessly gave possession away. He could of passed it out wide or put Nugent through easier but once again he thought he was Ronaldo. NB: And from where I was (Half way down below the big screen) Kasper's save today was world class but I didn't get the best of views.
Ilkeston_Fox Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 At the risk of repeating other people (not read through the posts yet), we need wingers. Gally upfront = laughable. Refuses to head anything, refuses to challenge. The Leicester fan at half time would do a better job How many misplaced passes did Wellens do today? I lost count. Heap of shite. Couldn't see if the red was a red from where I was, and yet to see a replay so will reserve judgement for now. The fans got behind the lads very well today as they could see they were working hard (well most of them were). All in all, a fair result really, we weren't dangerous enough with our set pieces (bet that's never been mentioned before) and obviously losing a man early on didn't us no favours whatsoever. Move on, next game.....
Leicester_Loyal Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 Think its vital that we get a right winger in, in January. I'd also like to see someone who plays CM and can control the game. If we can get better than Wellens/King then we need to go for it. Also a better target man would be ideal, Howard is decent, but we could get better, in games like today we could have thrown a target man up front who kept the ball and then tried to feed through one of the midfielders.
reynard Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 This is just the kind of result that shows what a massive job Pearson has to do. Simply we're not good enough to get promotion with the current squad. The midfield is still essentially the same one that wasn't good enough two seasons ago. It doesn't create enough on a regular basis. Gallagher is essentially a show pony. Every now and then he comes up with an amazing goal but his overall play is not good enough. Kings automatically turns backward nearly every time he receives the ball, Wellens slows the game down too much or plays ridiculous passes often without looking which gifts back possession to the opposition. Danns is frankly not good enough, Fernandes may be doesn't want to be here, Johnson (does he still exist?), Dyer tries hard but has no right foot to speak of, Abe is really no more than a fringe player by the look of it and Oakley is past it. The defence looks like it could be ok. Konchesky has actually been pretty good since Pearson got here. Peltier shows promise and Bamba, despite always looking likely to mess up has been pretty ok. Personally I've never been impressed by SSL but he surely deserves a chance over Mills who is one of the worst signings the club has ever made. Tunchev may not feature again. We look short up front as well. I'm not convinced by Beckford though Nugent looks good. We're very short of decent depth in this area. January needs to see some players leave and 3 or 4 quality players come in. Personally I think we need a new centre half, two midfielders including one who can play wide and one who has the ability to drop their shoulder and go past players and probably another striker. Play offs are a good possibility but today is a set back and the top two places look a long way away at the moment.
NewburyFox Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 Out of Howard and Gally, I would've put Gally on. Howard holds up the ball very well but their defenders would've had so much time on the ball as he can't keep running between CBs, fullbacks and the GK. Plus, unless the ball was hit straight to Howard (which it wouldn't be as most of the time the clearances were rushed) then we would've lost the ball anyway. Gallagher was poor, not because he didn't challenge as we all know that you're not going to get that from him, but because when he got on the ball he was rubbish. Pure selfishness not to square to Fernandes, Gelson was in a much better position and had sprinted the best part of 60 yards to support. Forget this game, and move on. True commitment and effort from the players, the one chance they had a clear shot on goal flew in, it was just unfortunate for us that that chance fell to Robert Koren, probably the most technically gifted player in the Hull side. Also, Cameron Stewart looked very, very good. Class on the ball, tricks, pace and consistently put in good deliveries. Just the type of player we need. I reckon that Pearson will be sticking in a bid in January.
RonnieTodger Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 Got back from the game about 90 minutes ago. Not as angry as I normally am, but I am ****ing fed up of seeing other teams score penalties against us and our players receiving red cards. Coventry, Forest, Birmingham and Hull (arguably the biggest 4 away games so far) have all produced red cards for us, which makes it extremely difficult away. Penalty count is getting silly. Bristol City, Forest, Birmingham and today (maybe more?). It's just that same sickening feeling. As for the referee, I can't really comment because I was stood in row D. On the plus side I thought our fans were pretty decent with good numbers. (Does anybody know the exact amount?). As said before, I've never seen fans so happy about scraping a 2-1. Was quite a sickening defeat, but I think a win against Posh will make it easy to get over. Great moment when Konchesky scored, so a decent day out. Also got served easily when I'm not 18 for another few weeks

Leicester_Loyal Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 I'm still seething over Mills getting a red card. I've never been this angry/annoyed about one of my players getting sent off.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 Schmeichal Konch, Pelts, played well at the back - bamba played ok but screwed up which led to putting Mills under ridiculous pressure for the sending off. Can't see how Mills could be sent off as the ball was headed out of play after his block when he caught the guy as they both went down - very harsh and probably not a sending off - he shouldn't have been under that pressure though. St Ledger looks OK but was slow to close down the guy who scored for them so jury out for me. Wellens was sluggish and gives the ball away too many times but considering he may well have been the only central midfielder with King asleep for the whole game, at least he tried. Thought Danns had a few god runs at defenders and Dyer did what he always does, looks quite flashy but rarely delivers a good ball in. Nugent looked good but doesn't flourish on his own up front (whereas I thought Beckford might, and should have been brought back on really for Nuge). Gallagher is always a bit rubbish at anything but wellying the ball - his appalling corner led to their possession for the second goal, Fernandes was ineffectual - poor sub bringing Gally on - he just isn't really good enough and although it pains me to say it, Steve H would have been better if we were resorting to hoof ball. 4 games in and Nige has dropped 5 points - another 6 or 7 like this and he'll be joining Sven I reckon I hope this is a joke cos if not then you need to change your name to seen****all. Pearson had a bit of a shocker today, in my opinion, certainly with his final substitution. Leaving Gally up front on his own, when he can`t head the ball, has no physical presence, and no pace was a bit strange, to say the least. It meant we were always going to be inviting more pressure on us, because we had no one to hold the ball up, to give us a breather. Howard was the obvious replacement, for Nugent. He has a physical presence, will battle away for fun, and hold the ball up, and probably win us a few free kicks in and around the box, which with Gally already on the pitch, would have given us our best chance, of nicking a goal. Without Pearson in charge today there's no way we'd of been that close to a point, particularly with how well Hull used their man advantage. He got us set-up to keep it solid and we did so, hence why Hull were switching it across the face of our banks of men and being unable to find a way through. It was only ever going to be a strike from range that was going to beat us and so it proved. Yes Gallagher was the wrong choice but Howard? Really?! Maybe for the last 10 minutes but Howard is so immobile and slow that he needs others around him to win the flick-ons and loose balls. Not sure we'd of gained much more by having Howard on for that amount of time.

Bugg Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 Wellens, how about instead of moaning at every player who doesn't receive one of your shit passes, you actually carry on moving and not let the midfielder you're supposed to be marking stroll past you. I'm not a Wellens fan anyway, but he evidently getting worse and worse and today's performance was a disgrace, worse player on the pitch by a mile today. Thought we maybe should've brought big Steve on instead of Gallagher to hold up the play instead of losing possession every time Kasper lumped it up field. I haven't seen the red card from the replay but from what I saw it looked like Mills won the ball and McLean dived, I will have to make a better judgement when I see the replays. Cameron Stewart for them looks a tidy player if a little selfish at times.
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 Rarely have I left a match we've just lost in the closing stages feeling so positive. It was so nice to see us as a unit, giving our all and defending with everything we had. It took a fantastic individual strike for a team in and around the play-offs, who had a man advantage for the majority of the game to beat us. We were so organised and worked so hard that Hull were never going to penetrate us despite using their extra man well, shifting it from side to side and probing away. Even if they did look like getting through (Stewart a few times) someone was always there to come across and cut out the danger. I actually thought Mills was playing quite well until he walked. I don't really like or rate him but I thought he'd made a good tackle and thought it was a bad decision. If he has flicked his leg out, as others who have seen replays have said, then that's a pretty idiotic thing of him to do. Danns was poor, Gallagher offered nothing when he came on. I hope I never have to see him up front ever again because it always looks like a square peg situation. I can't blame Pearson for sticking him on though because when your down to ten men he can produce that bit of magic that you need when you've been restricted to not creating much. There was also a perfect opportunity to lob their keeper at one point, the type an on-song Gallagher would usually pounce on. St Ledger was very good when he came on. Those trotting out the monotonous crap about King being anonymous probably failed to notice the solid work he put in today. The amount Hull were shifting it him and Wellens had a lot of running to do yet never tired and made some crucial interceptions. The fact we could hold so strong for so long against a decent side with a man less is very promising. We were a team today and Pearson's got us back the way he had us before. And it's this kind of effort and determination that see's everyone staying behind to applaud the team off after they've just finished a match in which they gained nothing points-wise. Given a bit of money to make a couple of tweaks I'm convined Pearson can get us in the play-offs, we'll beat plenty of teams on the road when the numbers are even and we're that solid and hard to beat. Our support (second half in particular) was top notch. All in all a very enjoyable and encouraging away day for me, despite the late suckerpunch!
Happy Fox Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 Get 10 points from out next 4 games should be the aim, then the January transfer window is absolutely cruical to us, we need wingers and a replacement for Wellens, a target man as well
Happy Fox Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 If we are unable to get promotion this season will we get done by FFP regulations next season?
Lambert09 Posted 3 December 2011 Posted 3 December 2011 Ive clearly taken a different view of the events of this game. People slating Mills are ridiculous....had he not tried to win that ball (which he did fantastically) I would have been far more annoyed. After he won the ball he couldnt stop him self, but never a red as it wasnt a goal scoring opportunity, when he was tripped the ball was at Kasper. The reason Gally was moved up front is because when he was brought on in midfield he didnt do his job, this wasnt Pearsons fault it was the way Gally wasnt challenging, closing down and kept loosing possession. So Pearson thought he would bring on Fernandes as he is clearly better at defending , he couldnt of brought Gally back off, so was the best thing to do. We were moments away from what would have been a great effort.
