cc_star Posted 31 December 2011 Posted 31 December 2011 Hmmm, A real mixed bag, which got worse as it went on. Thought the front 3 started well, they rotated positions with Nuge on the left & Schlupp down the middle, settled on Gally on the left, Schlupp on the right cutting in on his left foot & Nuge down the middle. Seemed to work OK, they ran the channels well, pulled defenders out of the middle but were never good enough to exploit the space they made. The pattern had already been set by the time Beckford came one & he looked his usual self where he had good touches & good runs, but nothing came off for him In the middle it was the usual mixed bag, Abe did OK without ever being good, was extrodinary easy to muscle off the ball & not strong enough to win the ball himself, Wellens worked hard, played lots of balls for Nuge to run on to... would have liked to have seen it rotate so Schlupp was down the middle & using his pace to run on to Wellens' balls rather it mainly just being Nugent. King was absolutely anonymous... It was like playing 10 men, probably the worst performance I've ever seen in a blue shirt. It wasn't until the 88th minute he did something, sprayed the ball out to Beckford who ran into the box & shot & then King got on the end of the rebound too, if's he'd have played like that this game or in the previous 4 we'd be a lot better off The defence was shocking Kasper made 4 really bad errors in the 1st half alone, and he added to that in the 2nd - all of them could have cost a goal against a better side than P'mouth, luck saved us. Peltier was out of position loads, it forced Mills to come out the middle & cover for him when they scored & Peltier was nowhere when they hit the post... Probably his worst game for us Bamba was his usual self... A total individual in a position which is all about partnerships, was also at fault for their goal in the 1st half Mills was alright, absent for their goal seemingly thanks to Pelts being absent, distribution is shocking & costs us possession all the time Konch, much like Kasper had a nightmare, bad decisions at the back & gives the ball away every single time in attack through either his lack of pace or his aimless floated balls Anyone who criticisies Wellens above anyone else after today's game is a blind fool & I'll thank them for highlighting that their opinion is less than worthless. With Kasper, Pelts, Konch, King on the pitch today, Wellens looked reasonable in comparison (even though he was pretty poor) & indeed provided some ok balls that Nugent & co upfront weren't able to capitalise on when Wellens created space in the middle by passing it down the channel, that's probably where Kingy should have been running through though so it's not the forwards fault totally. The longer the game went on the worse we got, on another day though we could have got 2 pennos, 1 for handball & 1 for a deffo foul on Beckford in the 90th min... New faces needed at the beginning of the window & not the end please.

Jace Posted 31 December 2011 Author Posted 31 December 2011 Crap game clearly Svens team is just not good enough regardless of who plays where in what formation
Guest Col city fan Posted 31 December 2011 Posted 31 December 2011 Beckford DID look sharper.. With the exception of the pass where he just didn't look up (is this the sign of a great reader of the game)... Overall utter fookin crap
Libertine Posted 31 December 2011 Posted 31 December 2011 King was appallingly invisible again. Wellens wasn't much cop but shouldn't have come off ahead of King. Same with Nugent and Schlupp.
Christoph Posted 31 December 2011 Posted 31 December 2011 I actually don't want us to get promoted this season. I think we need another season where we can get a decent team and dominate the league and then go up on a high, right now, if we got to the premier league scrappily via the play offs, i could onyl see us crashing down.
purpleronnie Posted 31 December 2011 Posted 31 December 2011 people actually pay to watch this and have the privilege to sit in a souless bowl. Is it worth it?
Cropwellfox Posted 31 December 2011 Posted 31 December 2011 Defence - shit Midfield - shit Forwards - inconsequential Substitutions - mistimed Chances this season? **** all - we'll send the year in the bottom half of the table. Never been more embarassed and less impressed with this club.
nickelbyfox Posted 31 December 2011 Posted 31 December 2011 yet again shows what we already knew, midfield is distinctly average across the board!
Jace Posted 31 December 2011 Author Posted 31 December 2011 At least Billy Sharp has just scored again...
MC Prussian Posted 31 December 2011 Posted 31 December 2011 We're nothing short of mediocre - in almost all aspects, manager included. Another season in the Championship beckons, then another one and another one, and so on...
Webbo Posted 31 December 2011 Posted 31 December 2011 We might have to write this season off. We need a big clear out in January.
sdb Posted 31 December 2011 Posted 31 December 2011 Very mediocre. No one's letting the side down especially, but at the same time I don't think I can honestly say any player is giving every drip of their sweat to the cause. They're so used to underperforming and yet because it's always the manager rather than the players that get punished, there's no real motivation to try any harder. A top drawer centre mid, and a classy winger and we could be a side, but something deep down seems wrong at the nucleus of this club.
Captain... Posted 31 December 2011 Posted 31 December 2011 May have been a penalty at the end but what the fvck was Beckford doing, clear sight on goal and turns back on himself and into 2 defenders, fvcking bury it.
Salieri Posted 31 December 2011 Posted 31 December 2011 King was appallingly invisible again. Wellens wasn't much cop but shouldn't have come off ahead of King. Same with Nugent and Schlupp. Exactly. Couldn't believe Wellens and Nuge came off instead of Schlupp and King. Poor performance yet again, regardless of what transfer business goes on in January I just can't see us making the Play Offs, way too inconsistent and incredibly seem to be getting worse. Thought Beckford looked good when he came on, excellent run and shot and should have earned a peno with his trickery in the area. I hope he stays.
Cropwellfox Posted 31 December 2011 Posted 31 December 2011 We might have to write this season off. We need a big clear out in January. After today, I have. Currently relegation form, can't see where a win is coming from any time soon.

sdb Posted 31 December 2011 Posted 31 December 2011 For the record I though Wellens had an OK game. One or two horrible decisions when on the ball but otherwise good. King very quiet, needs an extended break imo. Bamba and Mills need better cover, always look exposed. I thought Abe did well breaking up play but someone in the midfield 3 needs to be more disciplined when we don't have possession.
TheStig Posted 31 December 2011 Posted 31 December 2011 And what exactly was it that NP was supposed to bring to Leicester? Fame, fortune, the "spirit", a "team"----------? At least we got one thing stability......... we are constantly piss poor and play the least entertaining football I have seen in years. Yours speecless
