I didn't say it wasn't a penalty I said it wasn't an example of us creating a chance.

I see no point in continuing down the line of blaming individual players. Some will like Mills, others Bamba etc... Football is all about opinions.

More importantly, football is a team game and we don't look anything like a team.

Everyone seems miserable, out of sorts and are blaming each other for each others mistakes.

Koncheskys face throughout the game told its own story. Time after time there was no one to throw to, to pass to and to give and go with.

We are looking a very very average football team at present and, whilst it's far to early to be discussing possible relegation, we look like a side which is more apt to drift down the league, rather than up it.

I blame the general ability of the current crop of players. Some of Pearsons old guard are past their best and some of Svens signings look line they were hugely overhyped.

This aside, what I felt was most lacking today was any semblance of 'togetherness' and leadership on the pitch. No one was constructively taking the game on and driving us forward.

In fact, it wasn't until the introduction of Beckford that we finally saw some real drive, ambition and effort to attack the opposition.

However, Beckford is not a leader and I don't think Matty Mills is either.

I maintain what I said right at the start of this season... There is no midfield tough bloke in that team who has the responsibility of taking the others by the scruff of the neck and hauling us forward by talking, pointing, situating the players and being a role model himself..

We don't visibly have any captaincy IMO.

For me, the biggest worry is that the team today seemed to almost be resigned to mid table mediocrity which is a sad indictment on our 'pre season favourites' tag.

And, the next few games are tough ones.. Much harder than the ones we have just had, at least in theory.

We have to be careful because we look mentally to be on a very low ebb. The last time we looked so abject was under Holloway.

I'm not sure whether the precarious transfer window is going to make a major difference to be honest. What is clear is that we need more strength, solidity and guile in the central midfield.

Well it would have been given against us regardless of which referee it was.

Danns decision could easily have cost us a goal but for Bamba's intervention in our penalty area moments later. Pearson's call for "positive thinking" was apparent as four or five City players got themselves forward up to and around the penalty box when Danns took possession.

He looked up, saw the blue shirts yet ignored them and his inexplicable decision to shoot in the circumstances put him right out of position, left his attacking team-mates stranded and City extremely vulnerable to the counter attack and Portsmouth so nearly capitalised.

There's been too much bad decision-making for a while now and that's often a sign of low confidence. Only two or three times did we sweep the ball forward crisply with one or two-touch football. Too much of the time we abdicated responsibility by passing to areas rather than to feet.

Guy`s Pearson know`s what he is doing, he didn`t buy a lot of the player`s in this squad and I back him to start making positive changes to the team in the new year! It hurt`s were not doing aswell as I thought we would, but we have to move on and try and be positive. There has been a lot of negative talk around recently and I would say a slightly un-united dressing room! But im positive some good result`s are not to far away!

I'm not angry tonight, or disappointed, because I expected it. A flat performance and a draw. We didn't do enough to win, and three uninspiring home draws in a row pushes us further away from the top six we were in a month ago.

December has been a truly crap month, 3 points from five games when a lot expected at least 12. Will January start any better?

Here's hoping, and that we get something in the cup next week, at the moment that seems our most likely route to enjoying something out of this season.

Not much to add on most of what has been posted. Agree that we are very light in the middle and is the predilection to longs balls from the back a result of that or a cause? We always seem to win it back then hoof. The odd times we did start playing it around we looked ok but I fell apart as no cohesion. Where's the understanding between the players on who is moving where? It's like watching a pub team that never train together and just turn up rather than a professional outfit that spend all their time together. I can only think of a handful of times (4 or 5 at most) where we strung more than 2 passes in a row together. Looks like they are watching too much American football rather than real football.

Serious lack of game plan and some personnel changes needed. Surely the highest chance of a successful pass is a short one? It's just coaching 101. Pass and move and receive.

Just listened to Pearson's interview- RATTLED! He's a man under pressure and the way he was deflecting the questions during that interview he knows it. Whether he makes wholesale changes in January remains to be seen, but it will surely be a completely different XI than the one which started today..

Hopefully a Pearson-esque 'never say die' mentality will be instilled during that period.....

Think you have completely misunderstood his comments, as Izzet and everyone knows we are missing good central midfielder and winger, however has dismissed SSL which is no great loss!
