Pub breath Posted 7 February 2012 Posted 7 February 2012 Read somewhere that since 2004 Leeds united have had 64 loan players, received £22.5 million in transfer fees and spent £2.5 million on players. Nearer £30m now, I think that stat was before Gradel, Kasper and Howson being flogged which brought in around £5-6m more. When the club is making an operating profit, the sums really don't add up in a quite scary fashion. It doesn't just show up what a fantastic job SG was doing, it shows that he was near enough pulling off a miracle. Sigh.
Charl91 Posted 7 February 2012 Posted 7 February 2012 Why? I said probably. Who would you honestly suggest is a bigger club? True, to be fair. Other then possibly West Ham, I'd say Leeds are probably the 'biggest' club in this division. My uncle is a season-ticket holder for Leeds, and my flat-mate is a Leeds supporter. Neither of them like Bates, and from what I'v heard, I can understand why.
Alexikokopops Posted 7 February 2012 Posted 7 February 2012 I rest my case. This is the attitude that pisses me and many other people off. But it's true though. I can only really think of West Ham that would possibly rival them if we're talking about how "big" a club is. From reading through this thread I thought Pub Breath has come across pretty reasonably and not all like a cockmuncher.

Actually, looking at what Leeds have historically won, their stadium and fan base, and how (relatively) recently they've won a league title, they're easily the biggest club not in the Prem.

From reading through this thread I thought Pub Breath has come across pretty reasonably and not all like a cockmuncher. I think that's the nicest thing a Leicester fan has ever said about a Leeds fan! I actually don't really like or care much for the "oooh, our club is bigger than your club" playground argument anyway. Manchester City aren't as "big" as their near neighbours, Arsenal, Liverpool or probably even Spurs but what does that matter right now? Only one team sat on top of the Premiership currently. It all smacks a bit of dick waving and means precious little of tangiable worth in the overall scheme of things. I'd still support Leeds if we had a 3000 capacity ground and played in the Fray Bentos pies Northern 6th division.
Saxondale Posted 8 February 2012 Posted 8 February 2012 All this nonsense about trying to decide who are 'bigger' clubs is bollocks. How do you measure it? Classic example: our dear neighbours the Forest - they love to hark on about the Clough era, but their chance of success in the near future is about as likely as George Alagiah reading the news dressed as a clown. So are they a big club?

I go to watch LUFC because i'm from Leeds and they are my local team, that's all that matters really.

21st Century Fox Posted 8 February 2012 Posted 8 February 2012 Leeds United chairman Ken Bates claims former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has applied to succeed Simon Grayson as the Championship club's manager.
HEGGSY Posted 8 February 2012 Posted 8 February 2012 Leeds United chairman Ken Bates claims former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson has applied to succeed Simon Grayson as the Championship club's manager. Does Sven not realise theres no money to spend at Leeds.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 8 February 2012 Posted 8 February 2012 HAHA! I would love it if Seven went there! Get off to a good start, everyones God all of a sudden they when it comes down to it he will fail again.
Pub breath Posted 8 February 2012 Posted 8 February 2012 Does Sven not realise theres no money to spend at Leeds. Indeed and does he realise that the manager's package at Leeds is £5.80 an hour plus free Tetleys in the in the bar between 6-8pm?
HEGGSY Posted 8 February 2012 Posted 8 February 2012 How are the women in Leeds? This could be the deal breaker for Sven
goose2010 Posted 8 February 2012 Posted 8 February 2012 sounds like 'actual managers' are staying away from ken and his leeds utd from skysports "We've had one from an 11-year-old boy who obviously has high ambitions in the game, and we have a PlayStation manager of 2010, who fancies his chances, having won a competition. "We've also had Sven Goran Eriksson apply, but he won't be coming
Yojoe36 Posted 8 February 2012 Posted 8 February 2012 http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11688/7496319/Leeds-rule-out-Sven REJECTED MOFO!!
Webbo Posted 8 February 2012 Posted 8 February 2012 Doesn't say why he was rejected, maybe he wanted too much money.
21st Century Fox Posted 8 February 2012 Posted 8 February 2012 He probably didn't even get to ask for money Ken obviously knows he'd want a wedge and more for transfers. Raddy Antic applied too
Guest MattP Posted 8 February 2012 Posted 8 February 2012 Bloody hell Sven getting as desperate as Benitez. Looks like both of them are still going to be hanging around the country like a bad smell applying for anything.
Alexikokopops Posted 9 February 2012 Posted 9 February 2012 I think that's the nicest thing a Leicester fan has ever said about a Leeds fan! My pleasure
Danny the Fox 95 Posted 9 February 2012 Posted 9 February 2012 Hope Dowie gets it! Good looking man and a top knowledge of the game!
Pub breath Posted 13 February 2012 Posted 13 February 2012 Good, then show up, support your teams and stop moaning! Even if they are in ****ING BEESTON! Not my words, not the words of a Leeds fan. People are waking up. People are starting to really understand what is going on at LUFC now. http://flblog.dailymail.co.uk/2012/02/leeds-stuck-between-a-rock-and-hard-place-with-bates-holding-all-the-aces.html (p.s - Sorry about bumping the thread again.....sort of!)
Happy Fox Posted 18 February 2012 Posted 18 February 2012 Warnock is their manager given contact till the end of the season pending an extension
