Under 17's played Ipswich, our reserve team played Northampton. Pierre Laraurri scored all 5 for the under 17's and all 3 for the reserves.

Matches were played on adjoining pitches apparently, Pierre flitted from one to the other as the opportunities came.

Ghana international Jeff Schlupp made a goal-scoring return from injury as City beat Northampton Town in Tuesday's reserve match at Belvoir Drive.

The 19-year-old striker, absent since early-January when he sustained a knee injury in an FA Cup tie at Nottingham Forest, completed an hour of the behind-closed-doors fixture against the Cobblers and fired an excellent opening goal in the Foxes' 3-0 victory.

Encouragingly sharp for a player that has been sidelined for over seven weeks, Schlupp was among a number of the Club's young professionals to impress, while the likes of Matt Mills, Aleksandar Tunchev and two-goal Franck Moussa added a dash of experience to a side taken by Development Coach Steve Beaglehole and watched from the sidelines by Vice Chairman Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn.

Liam Moore continued to show his growing maturity at right-back, while fellow first-year pro Shane Byrne completed 90 minutes on his return from an ankle injury.

Schlupp's 11th-minute opener - a beautifully-struck, angled finish with his left foot, was almost followed by a second goal moments later when Moussa shot fractionally wide from the young Ghanaian's pass.

But Northampton, with experience in the shape of Andy Holt and Jason Crowe in their ranks, broke well to work Conrad Logan in the City goal twice before half-time.

Schlupp was denied by the Cobblers 'keeper after an outstanding take and shot seven minutes after the interval, but Moussa would reinforce the hosts' lead soon afterwards.

Dancing through the Town back-line after controlling Moore's searching pass from the right, the Belgian midfielder rifled in an emphatic finish from 12 yards to double City's lead on 58 minutes.

And after being given time to beat his marker with a step-over inside the box six minutes later, the former Southend midfielder drilled another crisp finish in off the far post.

Development Coach Steve Beaglehole said: "It was great to see Jeff back on the pitch again and he scored a terrific goal, but fair play to Northampton, they made it a very tough game in the first half. I felt we needed to play with more tempo and we did that in the second.

"I was particularly pleased with Franck Moussa. The plan was to take Jeff and Tom Hopper off after an hour; we didn't have another striker in the group so Franck went and played up front and scored two terrific goals.

"When you take this kind of game, it's important that the senior players also put it in and I was pleased with Millsy and Tunch, while Conrad Logan showed an awful lot of bravery and determination to keep a clean sheet late in the game."

Is that what's meant by the phrase "drifting in and out of the game" ???

Interesting that Hopper was taken off after 60 minutes, I reckon he's in the frame for the gig on Saturday. Great to see Jeff back in business too, I think The Fonz can go back now.

"watched from the sidelines by Vice Chairman Aiyawatt Raksriaksorn."

Big fan of this.

Seeing how his £3.5 million investment is getting on. :D

Fonz already gone back after the Derby match, didn't he?

Anyway, great to hear Schlupp is back in action and even better to hear he scored on the return.

Or he's just watching the game?

Probably wondering where the horses have gone.
