Coventry Post Match (2-0 Win)

Good win but Cov were shocking really, should have had 5 by half time.

Not impressed with Marshall and Peltier.

What are we doing bringing Howard on still? He offers nothing and is a waste of a sub, Kennedy for Konchesky would have saved us another suspension. Pearson has to learn and stop messing about with old timers not upto it, it's going to cost us.

Got to totally agree about Howard, total waste. Tom Hopper looked good against Swindon, would much rather see him than howard

Yet another dodgy red card and dodgy penalty. Luckily we were playing Coventry and they didn't take advantage of either. Whereas Birmingham, Hull, Forest and Brighton all have. (Brighton for the red card. But tell me if I've missed any out)

As for the Coventry retards fighting in the stands at the end.. lol

I'm sure they call us inbreds.

1-0 & 2-0, take that you filthy b@stards!!

thought we played well today, even comfortable too. Can see why Pearson really rates Morgan, solid as a rock once again.

Have to say Coventry are the poorest team Ive seen in a long long long long long long time...at times I think we needed the benny hill music playing when they had the ball...that useless. be very surprised if they survive this season.

Just hope we can keep this run going now :)

A lot of fun today. :scarf:

I think we were fairly good but didn't play as well as we have done lately. The fact that they were so poor flattered us a little bit.

An important further step this. Our third successive clean sheet in open play, finally banishing the consecutive wins monkey, another game where we scored two goals to emphasise our improvement as a strikeforce.

But, the downside was the loss of Konchesky because he and Dyer have become such an important partnership and, yet again, our transition from an incisive attacking side who can create chances against anyone to a fumbling excuse for a team - voluntarily laying off perhaps the worst Championship opposition I've ever seen and, in conceding a penalty, actually giving them chance to get back in the game.

Still we just refuse to believe in our true ability and to slaughter anyone. In the first half we were a team, moing forwards and backwards together. In the second there was a great gap as four fifths of the team retreated to behind the halfway line to defend.

If we keep doing this there's no way we'll consistently beat the better teams.

But some of Pearson's changes are very positive. Dyer continues to be a revelation and was a big factor in our success today, not only with his assist but for creating countless chances and also retaining the ball so well with Konchesky and others in more defensive situations.

Beckford had as disappointing a game as I've seen from him for a while but you cannot ignore his effect. An assist for Nugent and then a goal from Nugent's assist. It is what we've wanted for so long...strikers who score goals, make goals and constantly take defenders' attention.

Our use of wingers is another reason we're scoring more and have completed a respectable seven wins in 10 games although Marshall really should have taken his golden chance and still needs to have much more impact.

With Coventry's defence leaking like a seive and appearing vulnerable even when not under pressure the game should have been out of their sight by half-time so our wastefulness hardly deserves the accolades of "great win". There was nothing "great" about it - if I'm generous we played well for 45 minutes or so and were disappointing for the rest.

But, as any professional would say, winning is a good habit to get into and, once again, the collective team showed good balance and few major weaknesses, except for the partnership on our right looking weaker than the left and the failure of us to move forward and backwards as one in the second half.

I'd go as far as to say on their first half performance they were up there with the worst teams I've ever seen play us here.

I was actually quite embarrassed that a "professional" outfit could play that badly. Numerous times they just ran out of play, what the fvck. And the way Joe Murphy sliced the ball under very little pressure straight out of play for the build up to our second goal lol. The little passes in the actual build up to Becks' goal were lovely, great football.

One average team, one team absolutely beyond useless.

Lucky to have put that display out against rubbish, thought the midfield was poor and we were weak down the right, but a result that gives me a lot of satisfaction.

Tell you what, except for trips to the City Ground, our record in derbies in the past 3/4 years has been absolutely terrific.

Two wins in a row, about bleeding time.

Thrilled we have done the double over Coventry this season :yahoo: with back to back league wins at last. No way their panalty was even a foul and not sure the ref got the sending off correct either.

Other than that, it was a good day. :scarf:

I don't think there was much difference between our first and second half performances. We never looked overly urgent or creative but rarely looked in trouble. Coventry were very easy to play through and their passing in the final third was very poor. The penalty we conceded was against the run of play.

We are not good enough to create many chances against good sides, I don't think that's because of a negative attitude.

Good to get back to back wins finally, but my god Cov were awful, never really had to get out of 2nd gear and 1st half it felt like we could just create a chance at any second we wanted. At least Swindon made a game of it.

This must be from a joke account.

I mean it must be.

Surely?

Jesus Christ

Honestly what the **** is that post!

Come back when you've been educated!

Penalty saved, Marshall missed an open goal, St. Ledger missed a relatively simple chance. All in the first 20 minutes.

Are you the tw4t on the top floor of the Liberty building who was making a complete bell-end of himself with your moronic shouting

They were genuinely one of the worst Championship sides I've seen in a long long time.

I think if we were still playing now they wouldn't have scored. They had to dive for a penalty (from where I was sitting that's what it looked like) and they still missed!

All it took was a bit of hard work and we'd won the game after 10 minutes. It's crazy how a bit of effort changes your fortunes, 50/50s were won by us everytime and we were passing it at will because players were getting into good positions.

Cov are going down.

Can I ask how you missing a penalty and forcing Kasper to make a relatively simple save means we shouldn't have scored more?

-.- Classic biased view of "we did such and such so the other team, playing better, shouldn't have done as well"

I think what you meant was "how did we not score the 2 goals that would've made you pay for not scoring more like you should've done"

What happened after the game in the away end. We'd left and some outside said they were fighting or something

I was told a bunch of their fans were escorted out/arrested or whatever.

And I read a minute ago that someone apparently got stabbed, not sure which side but it doesn't really matter, we're supposed to be past this sort of ****.

I saw a Chavvy Coventry fan running around the away section with a steward chasing him. Eventually he caught him by the hood but the bloke started swinging at the steward so he had to be helped out by about 25 others.

As for the football, I didn't think Coventry were quite as bad as Watford were a few months ago.

Stan and Captain Shrapnel will be onto you like flies on shit, if you don't edit that and make it into a feasable attempt at a sentence. Jesus wept :S

Barely got out of first gear all game, they were poor. All a bit boring really... Including that chant used every other minute.
