The Year Of The Fox Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 Thought the cov fans were vocal today (sorry) they made more noise than derby did. A good win. The 2nd goal came from a nice.1 2 with Nugent n wellens. Cane make out the red card at all.
Webbo Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 It looked a penalty to me on the highlights but I agree about the red card, you couldn't tell anything.
Maybes Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 I don't get how passing the ball back to your goalkeeper can result in a penalty. Especially when the guy runs into Morgan after the ball had been passed back.
Tielemans63 Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 The commentator was an absolute bellend. 'That was a clumsy challenge to say the least from Morgan' Er, no you twat, watch the fvcking video that you're commentating on. I HATE these people not earning the right to have their jobs by simply saying what they see on the bleeding screen. No replay of Konchesky's sending off. That's conclusive then. ^ This. I was at the game today and so was interested in seeing some of the penalty claims again that I couldn't see during the match. Absolute joke of a highlights package. Didn't even show Ledge or Marshall's misses.

Webbo Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 Looked to me like Morgan put his arm out and blocked or pulled him back.

Captain... Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 Looked to me like Morgan put his arm out and blocked or pulled him back. I saw it on the stream today, with a couple of replays, Morgan clearly gets to the ball first and passes it to Schmeichel, it is not as if Nimley had control of the ball and Morgan went across him, it was a poor pass from SSL, Morgan got their first, as he had every right to go for it, knocked it back to Kasper and Nimley ran into the back of him. If he had been dribbling into the box and morgan stepped across him I could understand it, but it was a free ball, the stupid thing is if Morgan had slid in and put his foot through the ball and taken out Nimley it never would have been a penalty, depsite it being much more dangerous to the striker.
Chryatis Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 Highlights???!! The fvck didd I just watch That segment had to be the WORST edited thing I've ever seen in my life. Holy shit. Sack the editor please It was shocking. I was hoping to get another look at the Neil Danns foul that happened just after Konches sending off. I don't understand their penalty either.
acooling08 Posted 4 March 2012 Author Posted 4 March 2012 How can MOTD be so good, then FLS be so terrible? No replay of Konch, and Legard is a twat by saying it was a penalty, Morgan clearly passes the ball back to Kasper.

Brown Fox Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 Unfortunately wasn't there but sounded like a very decent win against a poor Coventry. Just out of interest how many fans approx did Cov bring?

MC Prussian Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 Well, as for our penalty... Wellens made the best out of no foul and simply fell over and it worked. Couldn't make out a lot about Konchesky's challenge, but it looked clumsy and unnecessary to me. The highlights on the BBC were rather lowlights, little coverage and slightly biased. Also, how many handballs were there? Pleased for the 2nd win in a row, maybe now we can finally string some results together.

Anyone in the ground (even Cov fans) would tell you there was contact. Nimely is clearly a graduate of the David Speedie drama school. However Konchesky did raise his studs to him and while the red card seemed harsh, remember the Swindon game when he should have been sent off and wasn't. The FA have already upheld one appeal from us this season. I'd be surprised if they allowed a second. The replay of the Cov penalty incident makes interesting viewing. Morgan played the ball back, then caught the player on the follow-through. Other refs (like the one we had at Hull?) might have issued a straight red. As it was, Morgan didn't even get a yellow, which was just as well since he was already on a booking. Wonder what Matt Mills, watching from the main stand, made of that. It has to be said that the BBC's editing was appalling and made the game look a lot closer than it actually was.

I have just watched it through and it was a disgrace - ended up with a telling off from the mrs for shouting at the TV! "That wasn't the tidiest of challenges from Morgan..." , was that before or after he played his back pass? 'Cos if it was before, I never even saw a challenge and after the back pass the guy who spent the majority of the game rolling around on the floor ran into him! At least the referee didn't cost us the result - although he did his upmost to spoil it for us. Perhaps our luck and fortunes are beginning to change.
Webbo Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 You have to remember that the Football League show has 30 odd matches to show with most of those matches only covered by 1 or 2 cameras. They are contractually only allowed to show so many minutes of football and nobody wants to stay up until 3 in the morning to watch in depth analysis of every match. Under the circumstances you can't expect it to be brilliant.
Dan Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 Was out last night so didn't see the FLS, but it's predictable stuff from them, the show's a fvcking joke, they sucked right up to us when we had Sven, yet when we had Pearson and have him back now, we get overlooked and generally unfavoured. Fvcking clueless commentators, I'm sick to death of the amount of fvcking big decisions that go against us and the fact they actually say it was a penalty, totally unbelievable, what message exactly does agreeing that's a penalty send out? Oh I know, I'll go to run into the man and fall over rather than go for the ball, more likely to get something. Absolute shit.

As for the pen, he's blocked him off, anywhere else on the pitch it's a foul. Soft penalty IMO.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 Nimely is clearly a graduate of the David Speedie drama school. David Curry for those old enough to remember the buck-toothed submarine from Barnsley!!!!!!!
ScouseFox Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 As for the pen, he's blocked him off, anywhere else on the pitch it's a foul. Soft penalty IMO. If your man was in possession of the ball and he's blocked off, yes, a harsh but giveable penalty. Morgan plays a simple backpass, Nimely runs into him, and somewhat surprisingly bounced off him. Not a chance it was a foul, anywhere on the pitch. Obviously I'd take it if the other way round, but it's not the right decision from another poor referee.

Kitchandro Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 Haven't seen a replay, real time it looked like he stepped across to block him off. No he won the ball and passed it back to Schmeichel. It's only blocking off if you're not in possession or you've not won the ball.
Corky Posted 4 March 2012 Posted 4 March 2012 Comfortable win, should've been a few up in the first half, missed penalty and two straightforward chances put wide while Nugent continued his fine season with another goal. Coventry had a lot of the ball but you can why they struggle away- they don't create enough and are easy to break through, as shown with the second goal, Beckford with a simple finish. Can't see why their penalty was given, Morgan passed it to Schmeichel and their guy ran into him. Morgan played the ball in any case. Thankfully Kasper made a great save and we saw it through, but Konchesky was correctly red-carded with put a dampener on the win. Two wins in a row, if you include the cup wins 2012 has been good so far, need another at Bristol to keep going.
