bovril Posted 15 September 2014 Posted 15 September 2014 Love Palermo as a city. Dodgy frittola aside. Did you get down to Ballaro'? Quite a 'gritty' area, birthplace of Ballotelli. I lived next to a barbers run by his 'uncle' that then turned into a restaurant and then a shoe shop and then a barbers again in the space of 2 weeks.
LCFC1996 Posted 15 September 2014 Posted 15 September 2014 Iachini's baseball cap-suit combo irked me way more than it should have. I'll probably be going to Roma-Palermo in the Olimpico at the end of the season, potential importance at both ends of the table.

Yea, that bloody great rambling market they have there. Great place, the Mrs went to buy some cherries, got royally ripped off and left with all manner of shit she didn't want, but was quite pleased with the whole interaction. The barbers/restaurant/shoe shop/barbers thing does sound exactly the mental impression of Palermo we left with. Never got used to stepping into on rushing traffic, which seemed to be the custom.

RedHux Posted 15 September 2014 Posted 15 September 2014 Was a bit like that, but in two distinct and very separate languages. She speaks no Italian and the bloke had sod all English. I speak a little of both but had ****ed off to look at artichokes or something.

Guest ttfn Posted 16 September 2014 Posted 16 September 2014 Just noticed Anderlecht are in the Champions league - I saw them away at Lierse on Saturday. They battered them but conceded a late equaliser. Apart from Defour they didn't have much about them.
Finnegan Posted 16 September 2014 Posted 16 September 2014 How is Steven Defour still only 26? Also, isn't him going to Anderlecht like Gerrard going to United?
Guest ttfn Posted 16 September 2014 Posted 16 September 2014 How is Steven Defour still only 26? Also, isn't him going to Anderlecht like Gerrard going to United? If Gerrard had been to Porto first! He was alright. The Anderlecht subs were good - no idea or they were saving them for tonight.
Finnegan Posted 16 September 2014 Posted 16 September 2014 Aware he didn't to straight from Standard but wasn't he club captain and a big hero there?

Samilktray Posted 19 September 2014 Posted 19 September 2014 Having visited the Nou Camp today I have a new found fondness of Barca. It's a shit hole but it's a very impressive shit hole.
ScouseFox Posted 20 September 2014 Posted 20 September 2014 real won 8-2 today. ronaldo x3, bale x2, hernandes x2 and james. not bad.
StanSP Posted 20 September 2014 Posted 20 September 2014 One of Hernandez's goal was superb. Left-foot volley from the edge of the box.
MC Prussian Posted 20 September 2014 Posted 20 September 2014 Two great goals from the Bundesliga this weekend: Moritz Stoppelkamp's record-breaking long shot for newly-promoted SC Paderborn from 83 metres (270 ft) out. And Hertha BSC's Ronny with a stunner of a free-kick: http://www.footballtube.com/videos/goal-by-ronny-for-hertha-vs-freiburg
StanSP Posted 21 September 2014 Posted 21 September 2014 Is that longer than Alonso's FA Cup effort vs Luton? Definitely better.

Because I don't think it's further than Asmir Begovic's goal, which holds the record for the longest goal. Edited 21 September 2014 by Facecloth
The Blur Posted 21 September 2014 Posted 21 September 2014 What record did it break? Because I don't think it's further than Asmir Begovic's goal, which holds the record for the longest goal. Researching for answers for potential trivia questions I see!
VinceNoir Posted 21 September 2014 Posted 21 September 2014 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCKwvHX1ZG8 Pablo Hernandez against Atletico. Nice.
MC Prussian Posted 21 September 2014 Posted 21 September 2014 What record did it break? Because I don't think it's further than Asmir Begovic's goal, which holds the record for the longest goal.True that. I meant record-breaking in Bundesliga terms.
Facecloth Posted 21 September 2014 Posted 21 September 2014 (edited) Researching for answers for potential trivia questions I see! The Begovic goal was officially announced as a world record the other day, so I just knew already! True that. I meant record-breaking in Bundesliga terms.Ah. It's probably only second behind Begovic, can't think of many from that far out. Edited 21 September 2014 by Facecloth
Nalis Posted 21 September 2014 Posted 21 September 2014 Dont have a link but Gattuso is at his controversial best in his latest press conference as manager as OFI Crete.
LCFC1996 Posted 22 September 2014 Posted 22 September 2014 Alessandro Florenzi scored in Roma's 2-0 win, went into the stands to celebrate with his grandmother, gets booked. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2764400/Alessandro-Florenzi-booked-hugging-grandmother-stands-scoring-Roma-s-2-0-win-Cagliari.html 1
