Bugg Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 Beckham overrated? If anything I'd say a lot of people underrated him because they hated the celebrity status he had. Also, England failure? Don't make me laugh, I'd say he was one of the few "golden generation" players who rarely let England down.
GSOOT Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 And then came back to play for PSG because he wasn't good enough. One of the top players in the world at his peak. Best dead ball specialist, best crosser, best passer, goalscorer. Maybe slightly overrated but still world class. England failure? Christ. French league is rubbish. Top players in world at his peak? lol Manchester United wudda never got rid if he was one of the best. World Cup 98 - Sent off cost us our place World cup 2002 - Bottled a tackle which led to the goal vs Brazil Only famous and over hyped by the media because the of the English club he played for and the women he married.

Same as Ronnie, rubbish player so gave him the boot.
Samilktray Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 Maldini was twice the player Beckham was.Yeah he was probably twice the defender he was. How do you even compare these 2 on a footballing basis, they didn't play in the same position.
RonnieTodger Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 (edited) England failure and had to move to America as he wasn't good enough anymore. Then why did AC Milan have him on loan twice? This "Beckham was overrated" football hipster shite has been blurted out so much, it's actually a cliche. Edited 22 May 2015 by RonnieTodger
GSOOT Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 Same as Ronnie, rubbish player so gave him the boot. He literally gave Beckham the boot. Ronaldo left as he was in the top 5 players in the world and went for world record fee (no club could turn that down) Beckham has never been anywhere near the top 20 players in the world never mind top 5.
Fox92 Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 Yeah he was probably twice the defender he was. How do you even compare these 2 on a footballing basis, they didn't play in the same position. Overall ability? It's just the same as these people who say Messi is the best player ever, yet Beckenbauer was a defender.
Dan Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/32826308 So Figo and Van Praag have both now dropped out the running. Its now a straight fight between Blatter and Prince Ali Bin Al-Hussein. Will this c*** ever f*** off and Die? Absolutely typical. Bet you anything Ali pulls out as well. They say you're better with the devil you know but surely not in Blatter's case. There's literally no way anyone could do worse.
Kitchandro Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 How can people NOT think Beckham was overrated? Sure he was one of the best dead ball players ever but anyone with any understanding of football whatsoever knows he was never at any time one the best players in the world. He was one dimensional - get the ball and cross it. He couldn't really dribble or skin anyone, not for pace or skill. If you play in front of defensive midfield and you can't do that you can never be called one of the best in the world. He had some great moments for England but if you have any memory at all you'll remember he was largely piss poor post 2002 and was picked regardless of what form he was in. Greece in 2001 and the penalty against Argentina were highlights, but in in truth, in an England shirt there were a plethora of below par performances. Like I said, great dead ball player which masked his limitations as an all round footballer.
ScouseFox Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 You don't play for the biggest club in England, the biggest club in Spain, the biggest club in France and the biggest club in Italy whilst almost single handedly starting football as a thing in America if you're not a quality footballer.
Samilktray Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 When you could swing a ball in like Beckham why would you waste your time dribbling past a player. The mind boggles
RedHux Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 You don't play for the biggest club in England, the biggest club in Spain, the biggest club in France and the biggest club in Italy whilst almost single handedly starting football as a thing in America if you're not a quality footballer. He was never even close to playing for the biggest club in Italy.
Finnegan Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 It's irrelevant whether or not Beckham is overrated. Comparing their trophy cabinet and claiming Beckham wins when Maldini has five European cups is just daft.
Samilktray Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 It's irrelevant whether or not Beckham is overrated. Comparing their trophy cabinet and claiming Beckham wins when Maldini has five European cups is just daft.Did he ever do it on a cold Tuesday night in Bolton though?
Dan Posted 22 May 2015 Posted 22 May 2015 How can people NOT think Beckham was overrated? Because it reaches the stage where that many think he's over-rated that it kind of defeats the point.
Finnegan Posted 23 May 2015 Posted 23 May 2015 Beckham's range of passing was absolutely phenomenal. He probably didn't quite have the intelligence of a Pirlo or Xavi when it comes to actually bossing a game but his ability to strike a ball, technically, is one of the best of my lifetime. I've previously called him overrated or average to wind up England fans but in reality he was an exceptional player. Not going to ever be remembered as one of the best ever in his position, which obviously Maldini is, but he merited a move to Real and hundred plus caps on ability.
Narborough_fox Posted 23 May 2015 Posted 23 May 2015 Bayern break their record of least goals conceded in a league season with only 18 goals conceded. Remarkable effort when you consider how poor they've been since they won the league. Hamburg are pretty much like Wigan a few years ago. Look destined for relegation and somehow manage to escape it.
StanSP Posted 23 May 2015 Posted 23 May 2015 How shit is this https://twitter.com/BundesligaSpot/status/602150400196743168/photo/1
Super_horns Posted 23 May 2015 Posted 23 May 2015 Very unlucky for him. Deportivo stayed up after coming from 2 down at Barca along with Granada who held Atletico.
Corky Posted 23 May 2015 Posted 23 May 2015 (edited) Eibar went down by one goal on the head-to-heads (1-1 at home, 0-0 away with Granada) and saw Deportivo come from 2-0 down at Barcelona to survive. Agonising. Edited 23 May 2015 by Corky
Dan Posted 24 May 2015 Posted 24 May 2015 I've never cried over football but I tell you what if we were on the end of what Eibar have been on the end of today I think that would probably do me. 3-0 up early on, cruising to survival and you're sent down by a combination of the champions of last year drawing with one of your rivals and the runaway leaders of this year chucking away a 2-0 lead at home to the team in 18th, all this for a team who only just managed to actually get in the league given the stupid rules. Absolute heartbreak.
Danno Posted 25 May 2015 Posted 25 May 2015 Could Pearson be going to Madrid now they've got rid of Ancelotti?
