FuriousFox46 Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 In talks apparently, would you welcome it? http://www.skysports.com/tv_show/story/0,,12382_7606281,00.html
Trav Le Bleu Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Bring them on. They'll go under after a few seasons in the 2nd division.
Night Air Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 I bet Portsmouth and Southampton would love away trips to Glasgow!
Matt Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 No, Fuck Off, bad enough with Swansea, Cardiff, Wrexham, and any others (if) i've missed out.
breadandcheese Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 What would it mean for Scottish independence and the SNP? I welcome it. Why not? They would become a serious force in a few years.
purpleronnie Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 I would find the celtic fans taking over every game very amusing.
The Doctor Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 No ta. I'd love an away day at Parkhead, but I'd rather they stayed in the SPL so that Rangers can get humiliated by Dundee & St. Mirren more often.
Corky Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 What would it mean for Scottish independence and the SNP? I welcome it. Why not? They would become a serious force in a few years. What happens if Motherwell, Hearts, Dundee United want to join a couple of years later? How can we refuse them? You open the door and they may attempt to flood in.
Guest Bilo Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 It wouldn't just affect the English game either. You might find big clubs from the Dutch leagues such as Ajax and PSV wanting to join the more lucrative Bundesliga, Benfica and Porto knocking on the door of La Liga and other examples of big fish wanting to leave their small ponds. Once the precedent has been set by clubs and leagues under UEFA jurisdiction, you're endangering a number of leagues across Europe.
breadandcheese Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 What happens if Motherwell, Hearts, Dundee United want to join a couple of years later? How can we refuse them? You open the door and they may attempt to flood in. Fair point.
Leicesterpool Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 I think Celtic and Rangers are just simply bored, they want a challenge. However if they do come in our league they cannot play in our Fa Cup.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 English League! When will these outsiders learn... I know im starting to sound like Nick Griffin of the football leagues but still... STAY IN SCOTLAND!
bmt Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 From a supporters perspective I wouldn't mind at all but it would be sacrificing the Scottish League for Celtic and Rangers. They need to find a way to make their league work financially rather than jumping ship. EDIT: I wouldn't mind it as I think they'd be good to play against/watch, however it'd be unfair on the rest so I wouldn't welcome them. Also agree with the argument about different countries (Benfica and Porto to Spain etc.) and second tier Scottish clubs.
Leicesterpool Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Celtic and rangers would be the limit on scottish teams, once there in shut the door we don't want teams like Dundee or Hibernian sneaking in. Another problem is a couple of northern irish teams might fancy there chances in are league. In ten years time are league could become the british league. Celtic and rangers can come if they start off in league two, they cannot play in are fa cup or league cup.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Sort of wouldnt mind but it would just have to be Celtic and Rangers. You could argue we have Caridiff and Swansea, so why shouldnt we have just those two? They could start down the leagues and then we would see them take big crowds to and following to away games which would give smaller teams much needed attendance money. Might work, doubt it will happen.
davieG Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 What about the clubs that would be denied a place in the Football League to accommodate them are people happy to see them kept out and possible disappear through trying to survive in non-league football?
LCFC_FAN_1995 Posted 18 March 2012 Posted 18 March 2012 Doubt this would happen but if it does they shouldn't be aloud straight in League 1!
