marko Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Has apparently handed in a transfer request. Extremely disrespectful in my eyes. Norwich took a chance on him in League One and have given him a shot at playing in the Premier League and this is how he thanks them.
Finnegan Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Not just disrespectful but a little weird. Norwich are looking to establish them as a solid mid-table club and as much as I think Grant Holt is rather under appreciated, surely that's his level?

To be fair you have absolutely no idea behind the reasoning for the decision of him to hand in a transfer request. Meaning your point is invalid.

Norwich are looking to establish them as a solid mid-table club and as much as I think Grant Holt is rather under appreciated, surely that's his level? Exactly. Villa, Fulham maybe? Can't see anybody in the top 8 going for him.
Jaspa Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 We don't know what going on inside their club firstly From an outside perspective, he has been there for a long time and fought to help them into the Prem, but once up, he didn't seem to start every game and seemed to be peeved off. The timing makes me think he was expecting a call up, and because he didn't, thought it was the clubs fault and not his. Anything could be going on here in truth. On the subject of Norwich tho, did anyone else notice how they went up, Billy-big-bollocks making as much noise in games as possible and having a buzz around, to no atmosphere whatsoever Did we break them ?

Captain... Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 It does seem odd, but if it is motivated by wanting "guaranteed" first team football you can't really blame him, but he did feature in 36/38 in the league and started 24 of them, Norwich haven't signed any more strikers, so I suspect it is about money and greed as usual, Norwich will get the best possible price for him now after the season he has just had, so probably not too fussed, Fulham, Villa, Reading, Sunderland would be possible destinations, maybe even Everton, Holt and Jelevic up front?
Matt Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Norwich reject Grant Holt's transfer request according to Sky Sports News. I understand Norwich making it hard for him, e.t.c, but tbh i'd just want to get rid, if a player doesn't want to be at a club no matter how good he is there is no point in having them imo.
lcfcsnow Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 He'll be a one season wonder in the Prem he's also coming towards the end of his career, looks to me like he's just making the most of the hype that for some reason surrounds him. I certainly wouldn't have him near the England squad. Who will fall for it?
Mack Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 No shock there. He has a decent 6 months and now thinks he can pull off a similar money spinning stroke to Andy Carroll. Another johnny big spuds with ideas above his station. Trouble is some idiot will pay the money.
Tom17LCFC Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Could it be that Paul Lambert's off then, so Holt wants out as well? Just a thought.
Guest MattP Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 He really should have done this before King Kenny got the sack.........
Guest MattP Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Heskey on a free and now Holt handing in a transfer request. I bet Tony Pulis can barely contain his erection right now
AjcW Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 I'd agree with the point above about Lambert going and Holt joining...
Fox92 Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 As Libertine said, I bet his agent will be pushing this through. I'm suprised though.
Leicfox Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 To be fair you have absolutely no idea behind the reasoning for the decision of him to hand in a transfer request. Meaning your point is invalid. Granted.
Super_horns Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 Likelyhood he has asked for more money but not go it and the agent has touted his name around with the transfer request going in to show he is unhappy. Unless he knows Lambert is going but that doesn't seem so likely now.
RedHux Posted 18 May 2012 Posted 18 May 2012 He did the same thing at Forest. Even talking about putting himself 'in the shop window' in interviews. It quickly got him dropped and then brought back months later and for reasons we're still wondering about, played on the wing.
Jimothy Posted 19 May 2012 Posted 19 May 2012 Holt and Norwich seem to fit together. He's been at other club, including Forest, and it hasn't worked, but at Norwich it does. Bit like Pienaar at Everton. It'll be the biggest mistake of Holt's career if he leaves Norwich.
Ozwin Posted 19 May 2012 Posted 19 May 2012 He always looks really miffed off when I've seen Norwich play, like shaking his head when he's been subbed or just being a mardy arse. I reckon he just doesn't get on that well with the manager and with him only having a few years left at this level he's going to take his chance and get a bit of money. Can't blame him really, having been in the lower leagues for his whole career.
Leicester_Numan Posted 20 May 2012 Posted 20 May 2012 As I said in my first ever post, I read a rumour from a Norwich fan on the Orange chatboards that Grant Holt was leaving and coming to Leicester. Couldn't really take it that seriously but now it's starting to have a bit more credibility. Let's wait and see what happens.
