Narborough_fox Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 **** off. It's ours, you've had one. THIS! It means Scotland and Wales qualify to. Would be incredible if that happened...
The Doctor Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 I'd argue but, trust me, you'd rather a night out in Warsaw or Krakow than Aberdare or Newport. Oi, Scotland has shitter places than that - show some respect to the mighty Aberdeen. Republic of Ireland, Scotland & Wales? Behave. Thats the only the way last two will ever qualify do a tournament! Should England bid for it, the voting would be fixed again so it goes against us. FACT. The kind of fact that's got very little evidence, which is circumstantial at best? I think that's more of an opinion rather than a fact.
Jimmy Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 THIS! It means Scotland and Wales qualify to. Would be incredible if that happened... no, joint bids shouldn't be allowed, its bad enough with 2 nations let alone 3 of the bastards, if they can't afford to host it on their own they shouldn't be doing it

I'm sure everyone else does also. Tell me there wasn't anything dodgy about England not getting 2018? Yet it goes to goes to Russia(dont even get me started on that).
Bert Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 **** off. It's ours, you've had one. France had the world cup 14 years ago.... They've another major tournament in 4 years.

It was a weird one, England probably had the best bid (can't remember who else was in for it besides Russia), but that doesn't mean FIX!!!111

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 The Olympic stadiums capacity will be reduced after the olympics and I think there is a minimum capacity for world cup stadia (around 40k I think) so that would rule out some of the others you've mentioned. The thread's about European Championships, 30K minimum (I think)
lavrentis Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 To be fair, our world cup bid was shocking. Everything speaks for itself when it comes to England anyway I hope we don't bid for it.
AyewJoking Posted 14 June 2012 Posted 14 June 2012 **** off. It's ours, you've had one. YES seeing Wales in a major (non rugby) tournament is number 9 on my bucket list!
Guest MattP Posted 14 June 2012 Posted 14 June 2012 I have no idea why people get so excited about hosting it, it's far more fun travelling to France, Spain, Italy, Holland etc etc than it is travelling to Leeds and London.
Webbo Posted 14 June 2012 Posted 14 June 2012 I have no idea why people get so excited about hosting it, it's far more fun travelling to France, Spain, Italy, Holland etc etc than it is travelling to Leeds and London. A lot more expensive as well.

So we can qualify tbh But, as Webster says, cost is a big deal. Guessing you're a single guy without kids, Matt? Reasonable amount of disposable income? Not everyone has as much money to put towards football.
Asha Posted 14 June 2012 Posted 14 June 2012 Did you ever seen the episode of "Bouncers" where they did Newport for the night? Looked fantastic entertainment, one couple got thrown out a nighclub as she was sucking her bloke off while she was having a shit. I went to Newport V York mind last month at Wembley, the people are funny as fcuk, cracking set of lads. It's a bit crazy on a night out, for sure. All sorts have happened on various student nights'. And I was at the game too. A large number of County fans are mad as fvcking hatters, but as you say, cracking bunch.

Yes to the questions asked, however I don't think cost is that much of a factor anymore, I got the Eurostar to Paris the other week for cheaper than it would have cost me to go to London if I walked up on the day. I dread spending money on football anyway so I want a day out to go with it now, as a matter of principle I refuse to pay the home prices Leicester charge now.
Hollism Posted 14 June 2012 Posted 14 June 2012 I'm pretty sure the deadline for "expressing an interest" has passed? I'd rather see it go to Scotland-Wales-Ireland than us. Although being hypocritical, I don't generally agree with more than one country hosting it. I'm looking forward to Euro 2016 anyway, won't be the MOST expensive

France may be easy for us but Poland / Ukraine? Flights, hotels, food while you're over there, plus you've got to find something to do with your kids and take the time off work even though you'll want the annual leave for them? I appreciate what you're trying to say, Matt, just pointing out it's not that simple. It's nearly always going to be both easier and cheaper to get to games in our own country, beside a few rare exceptions.
brockmyster Posted 16 June 2012 Posted 16 June 2012 Joint bids wont really be that bad now with it being 24 teams. That would even give Scotland and Wales a chance of qualifying normally

That's why I said France, Spain, Italy, Holland, you can get to all three cheap as chips, I don't regard a 3 week stopover in Kiev as one for anyone saving a few quid, I wouldn't have been able to afford 3 weeks without doing anything and forking out for this trip myself.
