Leicesterpool Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 I've just read on BBC Sport, that somebody has suggested that we should bid for the 2020 european championship, why not? because I'd would be twenty four years since we last hosted and I think we'd have a better chance of hosting this than the world cup bid we'd made. These Stadiums should look to host it Wembley Stadium- 90,000 LONDON Olympic Stadium- 80,000 LONDON Old Trafford- 76,100 MANCHESTER Emirates Stadium- 60,432 LONDON St James Park- 52,401 NEWCASTLE Stadium Of Light- 49,000 SUNDERLAND Eastlands- 48,000 MANCHESTER Anfield- 45,362 LIVERPOOL Villa Park- 42,788 BIRMINGHAM Elland Road- 37,909 LEEDS Hillsborough- 39,812 SHEFFIELD Riverside Stadium- 35,100 MIDDLESBROUGH Stadiums To Be Built or capacity to be upgraded King Power Stadium- 40,000 LEICESTER St Marys Stadium- (IT COULD IMAGINE THE SAME CAPACITY AS LEICESTER IF UPGRADED) SOUTHAMPTON Pride Park- 44,000 DERBY Falmer Stadium- 30,750 BRIGHTON KC Stadium- 34,000 HULL NOTTINGHAM'S NEW STADIUM (CAPACITY UNKNOWN) BRISTOL CITY NEW STADIUM (40,000 CAPACITY I THINK) FORGET ABOUT MILTON KEYNES!
Webbo Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 The Olympic stadiums capacity will be reduced after the olympics and I think there is a minimum capacity for world cup stadia (around 40k I think) so that would rule out some of the others you've mentioned.
James. Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 I think there's a general push to get the tournament hosted by poor, developing nations so yeah I agree with Finnegan.
Leicesterpool Posted 13 June 2012 Author Posted 13 June 2012 Stamford Bridge is a sh*thole anyway I think three grounds is enough in London, need to spread it across the country, I think the euro ground limit is 30,000 capacity or more.
Daggers Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 I think there's a general push to get the tournament hosted by poor, developing nations so yeah I agree with Finnegan. Gibralter/Portugal joint bid then eh?
Finnegan Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 I think there's a general push to get the tournament hosted by poor, developing nations so yeah I agree with Finnegan. I'd argue but, trust me, you'd rather a night out in Warsaw or Krakow than Aberdare or Newport.

Hillsborough would need updating, its falling to bits!
Zingari Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 I thought the nations expressing an interest had to apply by March 2012 Confirmed expressions of interest Turkey Republic of Ireland–Scotland–Wales Azerbaijan-Georgia

We won't win anyway, they seem to hate England.
Zingari Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 surely it's too late ! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UEFA_Euro_2020_bids
Jaspa Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 We need a World Cup, not Euros ! Maybe the Millennium Stadium could get involved if it wanted to
Rocket-Ron Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 I think there was talk of Turkey having a very good chance of getting the Olympics. Therefore pulling out of the 2020 Euros.
Guest MattP Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 I'd argue but, trust me, you'd rather a night out in Warsaw or Krakow than Aberdare or Newport. Did you ever seen the episode of "Bouncers" where they did Newport for the night? Looked fantastic entertainment, one couple got thrown out a nighclub as she was sucking her bloke off while she was having a shit. I went to Newport V York mind last month at Wembley, the people are funny as fcuk, cracking set of lads.
pSinatra Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 I thought the nations expressing an interest had to apply by March 2012 Confirmed expressions of interest Turkey Republic of Ireland–Scotland–Wales Azerbaijan-Georgia Is this the only way they can think of, as a means of making it to a Euro Championships? What next? A joint bid from Andorra, Luxembourg & Lichtenstein?
Corky Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 I thought the nations expressing an interest had to apply by March 2012 Confirmed expressions of interest Turkey Republic of Ireland–Scotland–Wales Azerbaijan-Georgia Scotland would still find a way of not qualifying.
Ashley Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 Republic of Ireland, Scotland & Wales? Behave. Thats the only the way last two will ever qualify do a tournament! Should England bid for it, the voting would be fixed again so it goes against us. FACT.
Finnegan Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 We'll qualify for 2016. Fact. And Newport folk are an acquired taste! Generally mental though yeah. Loads of places like that though, Cwmbran, Merthyr, Neath, Aberdare, half of south Wales is, er, colourful in its own way.
purpleronnie Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 Boy we really seem to have a chip on our shoulder don't we. Everyone hates us boo hoo. Grow the fook up.
yorkie1999 Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 All depends where the next FIFA president is from according to Platini when he was asked how come France got 2016 and not Turkey...
MooseBreath Posted 13 June 2012 Posted 13 June 2012 Boy we really seem to have a chip on our shoulder don't we. Everyone hates us boo hoo. Grow the fook up. I don't think it's anything to do with anyone hating us, it's because we play by the rules, which hurts on on two counts. Firstly that we don't play the corrupt angle which means we don't win, and secondly because we piss people off when we complain about the corruption. Until we either join in with the corruption or UEFA and FIFA clear out all the rot, we might as well not bother, and i can't see either happening anytime soon.
