Finnegan Posted 14 June 2012 Posted 14 June 2012 I don't ask you or expect you to cheer on villa plus villa fans don't hate Leicester fans. Ireland hate the english simple there's a huge difference. Read your history, Ireland have a better reason than most (and I include in that the Scots and Welsh) to hate the English, they were treated absolutely awfully by the British. But besides that, it's a sporting rivalry, get the **** over yourself and stop crying. Yeah, they don't like England, big whoop. Nobody's asking you to cheer them on but partying like it's 1999 because they've been knocked out of a group they had no chance of getting out of anyway just makes you look like a proper nobhead.
reynard Posted 14 June 2012 Posted 14 June 2012 Men vs boys. I'm afraid SSL was shown up to be the complete average player he is and was probably at fault for 2 and possibly 3 of their goals. Ireland are by far the worst side in the competition and several of their players are probably one match away from the end of their international careers. Great support which deserved a lot better.
FoxyPV Posted 14 June 2012 Posted 14 June 2012 Well, that was a joke. The thing that got us to the Euros was swiftly forgotten in the name of shambolic defending. I'd say schoolground but that would be an insult to school kids. Spain were impressive but again Ireland who wouldn't be?
whoareyaaa Posted 14 June 2012 Posted 14 June 2012 Roy Keanes gone mental. hes ready to swing for Viera or Charles
Basingstoke Fox Posted 14 June 2012 Posted 14 June 2012 That was a cracking effort by their supporters, especially towards the end. In some ways that game reminded me of a more extreme version of Chelsea vs Leicester in the cup. SSL got ripped apart by Torres, there was a clear difference in terms of class between the two sides, yet I still felt that the underdog could've given it more of a game had they given it a real go. However, the underdogs had fantastic support from their fans and even abit of 'We Love You' thrown in there. I knew the words to the Fields of Athenry from years ago when I went to see London Irish a few times at the Madjeski (this was before I could afford to go to football ). It sounded good there so I can only imagine what it was like in the stadium!
FoxyPV Posted 14 June 2012 Posted 14 June 2012 Roy Keanes gone mental. hes ready to swing for Viera or Charles Vieira would lap it (again)
sphericalfox Posted 14 June 2012 Author Posted 14 June 2012 FOA is brilliant in a stadium. My family comes from Athenry (father's side), and my father was named Michael, so it has a resonance to those who have passed away to me and to others in Ireland, it gets sung a lot at funerals. I praise all the fans who went out there and sung for their country and team. They were no doubt skint going out there, and will be skint for a very long time to come, but they are a credit! I hope England fans can take some pointers. I wish them well for tomorrow.

yorkie1999 Posted 14 June 2012 Posted 14 June 2012 Get the feeling that even if Spain win euro12. No one will give a shit .
I am Rod Hull Posted 14 June 2012 Posted 14 June 2012 Ireland are my Derby County. I like to see them do well, but I`m content when they get raped. Best support of the championships by far.
Leicesterpool Posted 14 June 2012 Posted 14 June 2012 I just can't work out people who would cheer on people for a nation that hates yours, I wouldn't expect Ireland to cheer on England! Stop cheering on a rival nation and cheer on nation who actually likes your country like Holland. The only part of Ireland I like is Northern Ireland! I'd happily cheer on Northern Ireland! I've got to say I love the Northern Ireland flag. I'm English and proud of it and I don't like people who knock our country.
acooling08 Posted 14 June 2012 Posted 14 June 2012 Read your history, Ireland have a better reason than most (and I include in that the Scots and Welsh) to hate the English, they were treated absolutely awfully by the British. Finners, if you look back through History, virtually every country has a reason to hate one other. The fact is that there are no Irish people still alive who would have suffered in any real sense at the hands of the English. The last major incident in which we treated them awfully was the 1916 Easter Rising. And trust me mate I know how badly England treated Ireland centuries ago, because I studied it at A-Level. But why is it still relevant now? On the other hand, Irish republicans have caused casualties in NI and England through IRA terrorist bombing much more recently. So if anything, the English should hate the Irish now. Anyhooo, I am indifferent towards Ireland, but I do feel at least a little pride that the mighty Leicester City have a player who's played (and scored) in this year's Euro's.

purpleronnie Posted 14 June 2012 Posted 14 June 2012 England are allowed to hate other countries but if someone hates us we have to get all uptight.

Best post I've seen you make on here. Summed up how a lot of people will feel.
Finnegan Posted 14 June 2012 Posted 14 June 2012 So your allowed to knock us, but we're not allowed to knock you Not at all, banter's one thing. But wanking off like it's the happiest day of your life because Ireland lost to the best side in the world isn't banter or rivalry it's just you being a sad little ned. I like to see England lose but even as a Welshman I'm not tinpot enough to cry tears of joy and start going "YESSSSSSSSSSSSS **** OFF ENGLAND!" every time you lose a game.
Daggers Posted 14 June 2012 Posted 14 June 2012 I'm English and proud of it and I don't like people who knock our country. So, you don't like knockers? Have you always disliked them? Would you line up for England with proud Englishmen in front and behind you? Would it make you happier than getting to grips with the knockers?

Also, if you went to Northern Ireland you'd probably find more people with a passionate hatred of the English there than you would in the South.
