Guest MattP Posted 25 January 2013 Posted 25 January 2013 Given Warnock Dunne Vlaar Hutton N'Zogbia Ireland Delph Agbonlahor Benteke Bent It might be going against Lambert's philosophy of playing young players, but Villa are in serious danger of being relegated and playing some of the above experienced players may just help them. It's pretty average as best though isn;t it? Bent looks like his best days are long gone, Benteke looks like Drogba for one match then Heskey for the next three. Delph is awful, defence looks average, no standout superstars. Looks every inch a relegation side to me.

Not seen enough of Vlaar. N'Zogbia seems to be the only one trying to make things happen when they play, a very good player. The team as a whole looks nothing special though.

Even if they only include 5/6 of them surely the experience will help the younger lads out.
Fox92 Posted 26 January 2013 Posted 26 January 2013 Yeah, I think it looks like a relegation-threatened team as well... The likes of Given, Dunne, Warnock, Ireland and Agbonlahor have all been good Premier League players. Personally don't rate Hutton or Delph though. Watched Benteke a number of times on tv for Villa and not been impressed. Lambert just looks down at the minute. He must of known what job he was taking on, especially leaving a team he built up at Norwich.

Bent too...seems like Lambery doen't like the older players and hoped the youngsters would come good for him but that hasn't happened...and its all about results/money ofcourse.

To be fair the only reason he keeps ending up in the squad is 'cause the cheeky bar steward keeps scribbling "eke" at the end of Bent's name on the teamsheet.
Leicesterpool Posted 26 January 2013 Posted 26 January 2013 A lot of whispers tonight on twitter that Lambert as been sacked!
marko Posted 26 January 2013 Posted 26 January 2013 A lot of whispers tonight on twitter that Lambert as been sacked! No he hasn't. It was announced by a fake Aston Villa account.

Guest BlueBrett Posted 26 January 2013 Posted 26 January 2013 Lambert should definitely go. I'm sick of people giving it the 'young players coming through', 'time to impart his philosophy' bullshit. How many goals have they conceded from set pieces? Surely defending free-kicks, corners etc is one of the main areas where a manager should be earning his money through organising his players. The guy is clearly clueless and he has no excuses as far as I'm concerned. He's not the first to have to work with a tight budget. And I don't like his face.
Father Ted Posted 27 January 2013 Posted 27 January 2013 Another club at which McLeish plotted their downfall. Lets hope he can make it 3 in a row
AKCJ Posted 27 January 2013 Posted 27 January 2013 Vlaar is Villa's greatest player according to my Villa supporting mate. He reckons he's absolute quality and the side look completely different with him in it. Apparently he's been injured though.

Lambert as really been disappointing, in the summer he seemed great for Villa the right pedigree for the job. But looking at him now how wrong we we're. He spent £20million in the summer, not alot but enough to bring in something. Only one of five signings we're a success (Benteke) the rest I'm afraid are lower league crap that just simply aren't good enough. Every week he comes out with same thing "can't fault there effort" bollox he's too soft on them! People might think Villa are fickle about there manager's but to fair the villa fans have been patient they've supported Lambert in every way since he arrived, but recently enough is enough he's made us look the laughing stock of the league. McLeish wasn't even this bad, but it was clear either he was good enough for the job. Once again Lerner is behind all of this, spent f all in recent years, sold of all our best players, doesn't give a toss about the club. Once again american ownership. Villa need an ambitious manager with passion and not scared to voice his opinion on players or board! I'm afraid now the only way to become a successful top six club is to spend cash otherwise you get relegated.

Oh I know, get in a time machine and go back to 2010.

Leicesterpool Posted 27 January 2013 Posted 27 January 2013 You'd think a team like Villa could do better than Houllier... It was surprise that Houllier was even linked, everybody a Villa said "blimey, how old his he?" In 2010 i think Villa should gone for Klinsmann, if he wanted the job.

purpleronnie Posted 29 January 2013 Posted 29 January 2013 Sod allatmosphere at the SOL I'm contemplating turning it off I know, I don't know why but when theres no atmosphere at a game I feel embarrassed and cant enjoy the game at all, so sad to see how bad things are now.
