Tuna Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 So there isn't actually any concreate evidance of this apart from wiki which any tom dick or harry can change And now its been deleted funny that.
Bryn Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 Players like this can still play if they are well managed. We have cover at centre back and if we get a game a week out of him that's good going, he's a very good defender. St. Ledger steps in where games pile up.
Bluetintedspecs Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 Koren, people have commented on his age. Futacs, some have said we don't need a big front man. I would go as far as saying 75% of the time when we are linked with a player, someone will look for a reason to not sign them. E.g - Harry Maguire - "not having pace" etc. Agree matty and the incredible thing is most of the moaners are moaning before they've seen the individuals concerned play? I asked the qustion about his injury record in twitter thread cos I wasn't sure, however I countered it with a statement that in todays modern game the medicals are very thorough! I personally am very excited about the work NP is carrying out and can't wait to see how it pieces together. COYB

I like NP and didint like Sven at all, Nigel is slowly sorting squad out and i am really excited for the new season, think he is getting the morale right which is a massive part and putting together a very capable squad.

The Foxes chief will tie up the move for experienced Whitbread today to fill the gap left by the sale of Matt Mills to Bolton. Whitbread has had offers from several Championship sides but opted for Leicester whose offer topped the lot.
Simmo86 Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 Cracking little capture on a free! Just hope he stays fit!

Offers on the table from a number of Championship clubs but he chose us. Good lad!

Oh yeah sorry my mistake, but not a massive amount for futacs! yeah not sure about our whole defense situation in the team as maybe ledger could leave....? more than likely wide of the mark but you never know?
Bert Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 Underwhelmed ?? Who out there would you prefer us to sign ?? He's as good a CB as we can realistically expect to sign in our situation, and on a free too "In our situation" If we really we wanted we could go and buy a defender for £5m....
Father Ted Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 SOLID backline: Schmeichel De Laet - Whitbread - Morgan - Konchesky Thats not too far off a lower Prem team defence and looks a unit. Love it.
Mark_w Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 "In our situation" If we really we wanted we could go and buy a defender for £5m.... Yes, but the quality of CB who would be willing to come and play for us, in this division, probably isn't that great even if we did go out and pay £5M. We'd end up with somebody like Matt Mills. I'd rather have the defender many Norwich fans seem to rate as their best CB last season (In the Premier League) on a free personally.

You won't be loving it when De Laet makes it look shit. Honestly think we need another right-back if Peltier goes, I have little confidence on the right side of defence think De Laet will get battered by the top wingers in the league.

Bryn Posted 23 July 2012 Posted 23 July 2012 The fee for Futacs is nominal and will be in the thousands not hundreds of thousands Oh be under no illusions, we'll have paid good money for both these players. The reason we trumped the other clubs is likely because we offered a bigger signing on fee. I'm not complaining, it's an astute use of our financial superiority compared to splashing millions on fees and wages, but don't be under the impression Futacs and Whitbread were almost freebies.

I'm not complaining, it's an astute use of our financial superiority compared to splashing millions on fees and wages, but don't be under the impression Futacs and Whitbread were almost freebies. They were free in that we didn't pay a fee for either of them. Portsmouth would only be entitled to compensation for Futacs if they offered him a contract of equal or higher value than his expired contract before he left. From what I've heard, they were looking for him to take a significant pay cut. If this is the case, we won't have to pay any fee for him at all. If we sign Whitbread, no fee will exchange hands either for obvious reasons. I do get what you're saying; after wages and bonuses these players won't be 'free'. However, while we can afford to pay a bit more than most clubs in terms of wages, I doubt we'll be paying significantly more - expecially after NP has already moved to get big earners off the books. They'll be here on reasonable wages - Futacs probably less than Whitbread - but nothing too outrageous. Both represent good value in the Championship IMO.
