Mack Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 This would be a superb signing, and on a free also. This time last year we were wasting a fortune on a player in his position that's not even half as good....
Nickfosse Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 Another way of looking at it is let's be thankful he has got an injury record, because if he didn't there is no way a player of his quality would be coming to us. He would either have a new contract with Norwich or have been snapped up by a Premier League Club. I think we all have to wake up and understand that Kompany and Pique won't be coming to Leicester and realise that we have to get the best we can from those who are available.
Micky Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 http://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/sport/norwich_city_s_zak_whitbread_has_plenty_of_admirers_according_to_sky_sports_1_1368478 Injury prone but clearly has some ability.
Bert Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 It's ok saying he's injured all the time. We could sign someone for £3/4m and in their first training session they could break their leg or something. Even though I'm a bit underwhelmed by this, we must put our trust in Pearson.
Mark_w Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 The Norwich fans want him back, and some of you are unhappy with this.
Happy Fox Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 Maybe we are planning to splash the cash from the sale of Bamba and Mills on a Left winger/midfielder of real quality? Signing Whitbread on a free is a good deal imo.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 Would be a bloody excellent signing if (big if) we can keep him fit.
sphericalfox Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 Not like Pearson to give a quality CB who's had some injury problems a chance.....

He's as good a CB as we can realistically expect to sign in our situation, and on a free too

Signing Whitbread on a free is a good deal imo. The ever elusive left winger signing... Seem to remember this time last year we were saying the same thing and nothing happened. I have a funny feeling Dyer will still end up in the starting 11. Unless NP is planning on changing the formation to 4-3-3 or even better 4-2-3-1.
ARM1968 Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 He's pretty good. On a free would be a great addition. He is injury prone though. Probably well worth a punt.
dayday Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 Would be a very good signing for us...was excellent for Millwall and it was no surprise that Norwich came in for him. If signed,i think he will be first choice alongside Morgan.
kingfox Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 What is there not to like about this signing, Whitbread is a solid player and like many others have said above, on a free you can do know wrong with that. He is a great option to have especially at Championship level aswell, him, Morgan and St Ledger would be pretty strong. All we need now is a winger and hopefully Koren then we would be sorted I think. Unless Peltier goes and Pearson decides to get in a replacement.
dannythefox Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 On a free we have nothing to lose, Tunchev is injury prone but I would still have him back.
FoxLAD Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 well if they all expected him to go villa.. cant be to bad of a player!
lcfc_amie Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 I asked Norwich fans on twitter about him & this is the response i got He is ex-Liverpool so he knows how to get the ball down and play. He's a bit light though... Strengths - reads the game well, pretty solid defender who can pass. Weaknesses - made out of chocolate Very good player but pron to injuries. Decent solid player. Will do well for you. Not the fastest but not slow either. Downfall is he is injury prone. good player but the first year you will need to carry him good in the air good on the ground comfortable on the ball quite quick - wish still at #ncfc injury prone quality player. Bit slow but quality in the air, good tackler and can pass. One of our best players last year Overall very good - apart from being injury prone.
carrowing Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 Canary fan in peace....... Easily our best centre back last year. Excellent in the air and tackling. Really annoyed that we decided to keep Ward and Barnett and let Zak go.....absolute madness. Our loss is definitely your gain. Good luck for 2012-2013.

sphericalfox Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 I think the risk is minimum. Pay nothing for him. Put him on a 2 year contract. If we get Premiership with him in the team and he can overcome his injuries superb. If he flakes out and we still go up, then letting him go won't be that much. (for the optimists) The same applies if we don't go up this year but next. (for the 'this season' doubters) He's another sick note, and we've had enough of those over the years! (for the over-dramatists) He could be the American Wayne Brown! (for the dreamers) etc.
THEFATBASTARD Posted 22 July 2012 Author Posted 22 July 2012 I wonder why when anybody highlights a legitimate concern regarding the signing of a player ,some posters get borderline hysterical.? im sure the injury track record was a factor for the management team and the player himself, just mentioning it, doesn't mean we think the guy is rubbish....
Walshy5 Posted 22 July 2012 Posted 22 July 2012 So there isn't actually any concreate evidance of this apart from wiki which any tom dick or harry can change
