Babylon Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 "Christophe Berra is a £3m target for Southampton, Stoke and Leicester. The Scorland defender 27, wants to quit relegated Wolves". The Current Bun. Can't see it.
dave_the_fox Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 £3m? No chance. What the hell is the current bun!?
Fox92 Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 He is avaliable, but I would have thought a few lower league Premier League teams might take a look at him, obviously Stoke and Southampton mentioned. I still think a loan signing would be a better option for us, although I wouldn't reject Berra.
Happy Fox Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 If we signed Berra he would be without a shadow of a doubt first choice, and personally I would as he has bags of championship and prem experience. The fee seems a lot but in relation to Matt Mills and Bamba leaving and picking up Whitbread on a free why not?
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 Jeremy Kyle berra not be dead, I loves him
Leicester_Numan Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 At 3 mil, it won't happen especially as there's a stronger link to Gerrard at a few hundred thousand with 3 solid central defenders already here
dakin_fox Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 wouldn't say no to this but can't see it happening especially not at 3 million
marty78 Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 £3m? Get fcuked, rather have Gerrard or a loan. I will Berra-te Nigel should he do this deal.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 Rather get Gerrard for about 500K than Berra for 3 Mil.
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 No chance Pearson will part with £3m for anyone I think this is spot on mate. Not this season anyway I would suspect.
foxfanazer Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 I think this is spot on mate. Not this season anyway I would suspect. Maybe Kyle Naughton if he was available
Nick Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 Yes please, though this is more likely lazy journalism and touting.
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 Maybe Kyle Naughton if he was available Kyle was a Sven loanee mate. Even Naughton wouldn't fit into the Pearson mould of defender I don't reckon. Nige likes his defenders defending and his wingers attacking. Naughton could get forward too much for Pearsons liking?

Yeah I know just a personal wishDon't think you can get away with being just a defender nowadays if you're a left back/right back
TheUltimateWinner Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 Please Pearson, if we get a defender in get one on loan for short-term cover. If not there will be too much competition and the players will start throwing their dummy's out the pram.
Babylon Posted 4 August 2012 Author Posted 4 August 2012 No chance Pearson will part with £3m for anyone If he had the budget of course he would.
foxfanazer Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 If he had the budget of course he would. I honestly don't think he would
kingfox Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 Won't happen but would prefer him to Anthony Gerrard. God help us if we get Gerrard. Just get in a loan signing and be done with, we don't need another permanent defender.
artursteppe Posted 4 August 2012 Posted 4 August 2012 I honestly don't think he would When the guy said if Nigel had the budget he would spend three million on one player - there is not a manager in the world who wouldn't. Perhaps you thought by 'budget of £3m' he meant £3m to spend altogether.I hope you can work that out now.

Given what we've seen this pre season I will be surprised if Pearson spends three million on one player. Even if he had the money to I'd still be surprised. He does like a bargain and seems to prefer pay not a lot and develop his own.
