chris_lcfc_85 Posted 20 September 2012 Posted 20 September 2012 Really, you thought he was good for the first 30 minutes? Where he constantly gave the ball away, played terrible risky passes putting his team mates in trouble, was out of position constantly seemingly thinking he was playing at left back, and from where I was sat was also positionally at fault for their goal. He improved after that, but there were others on the pitch a damn site more worthy of MOTM than he ever was because of the start he had. It's not like he did a great deal there onwards other than being a bit more solid. In fairness, i thought SSL was ok, nothing more, nothing less. Morgan was hands down man of the match for me and I also thought Drinkwater played very well
marbelladave Posted 20 September 2012 Posted 20 September 2012 MOTM according to the radio!!!! FFS. Really, I'm shocked! Is that true, fooking 'ell, who was the idiot who picked him, his mom..... Im not normally a fan of SSL but him and Morgan did well last night Thought it took him pretty much the whole of the first half to get going, looked like he hadn't played in months and was clearly at fault for the goal...... Like everyone else, he was better second half but had either Vokes or Shackells efforts gone in late on I wonder what everyone would have thought about their performances?

He was good for the first 30 mins in my opinion, didn't hardly give any passes away, at least he can find midfielders. You can't call clearing the ball up in the air a pass, at least he got the ball away from the 18 yard box. If it wasn't for St Ledger and Schmeichel we could of lost last night, St Ledger's clearance towards the end was key, if he wasn't in the right place that would of gone in, and Schmeichel save at the end was ever so crucial. Also when St Ledger looked in danger but skilled about three players, and came away with the ball, if Morgan did that everyone would be cumming themselves, just because St Ledger did it, because he is wary of a few mistakes here and there, everyone jumps on his back and calls him a liability. St Ledger and Morgan did a great job last night, St Ledger dominated Paterson in my opinion, can't record Paterson turning him once, he struggled against Vokes though but so did Morgan. Was happy with St Ledger last night, looked comfortable in my opinion, and due to some key clearances he made, he deserves much better ratings.

You could turn the tables round and say what happens if Vardy's goal would of counted vs Blackburn and everyone on here wasnt moaning about a loss... Unfortunately that wasnt the case, we lost and moved on

Unfortunately that wasnt the case, we lost and moved on If that is the case then Vardy's goal at Blackburn is equally irrelevant as it wasn't given, you can't have it both ways..... Two points; I have no problem separating results from performance, we were, at best, pretty average last night, in fact well below average first half an better after the break. We barely deserved the win and I am not blind to that. It has been said on here that we have played quite well in games that we have managed to lose, that is fair enough but it is equally fair to point out that last night we were not that good and barely deserved the points..... Pleased with the win, we really needed the points......

Im agreeing with you but now people have a moan or dig on here cos we didnt look overly convincing last night but we won! Whilst we were never at our best, we were worthy winners last night. Think Schmeichel had 2 saves to make all match, they barely mustered any chances and we dominated most of the game. We'll create more chances in games going forward but prob not win, such as football!

The win should be good for confidence which is important, but we need to do better, much better.

We did do better against Blackburn and 2nd half vs Charlton but didnt win, doesnt always work like that

As I said he improved, but his performance first 30 minutes was dog shit no matter what anyone says differently. I was sat directly behind him in SK4 and he was all over the place, and I don't mean in a good way. If passing well / not giving it away = launching the ball at Morgans head from 15ft away when a striker is stood next to him, forcing Morgan to scramble several clearances, then yes he did a great job.
Raj Posted 20 September 2012 Posted 20 September 2012 1st half=shit. 2nd half=goodish Thats my input!

The team DOES need that really good second centre back. Is Whitbread the man? We'll have to see. A top centre back at this level, playing alongside Morgan would be very reassuring. I'd love to see a Hobbs/Morgan situation going on.
leicesterseddon Posted 20 September 2012 Posted 20 September 2012 As others have done, I think it's important to separate result and performance. The result was a good one, the performance was poor I thought. In fact, I'd go as far as to say we didn't deserve to win the game. Some of us have to get out of this mentality that getting 5 or 6 shots on goal in the whole game means 'we could have scored 5 today'. It's not how it works. Just got two points because much has already been said. The first is that we really need to start games more positively - that's 6 games played so far, and 6 games in which we have failed to score in the first half. Secondly I have worries about Vardy. He scored, yes, but it was a deflected cross. Apart from that he did nothing all game: he didn't win headers, his runs were aimless and nearly every time he got the ball he lost it. He was poor at Wolves too and I'm not sure how long he deserves to get his act together.

He does look like he's struggling a little bit though, whether thats physically, or running out of ideas i'm not sure. Still, 2 goals - doesn't matter if its deflected or not they all count!

I have suggested playing Vardy in a wide(ish) left position in a 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 formation ( not a 4-4-2 ), where he is, reputedly quite comfortable. This might take some pressure off the lad as he is no longer the main striker and should get him more time on the ball.

Jugsi Posted 20 September 2012 Posted 20 September 2012 After we supposedly chased Cameron Stewart all summer/last January and then under the radar goes to Burnley of all places on loan of all transfer options, how did he play last night?
The Year Of The Fox Posted 20 September 2012 Posted 20 September 2012 Any highlights please? Was that your tweet on the yourshout on the big screen before ko?

Did absolutely nothing all night. So glad we didn't sign him.
eaststandtom Posted 20 September 2012 Posted 20 September 2012 city tried to do the right things in the first half but looked nervous. an early goal in the 2nd gave them confidence and we played well. would like to see them play in the same way but on the back of 2 victories. with confidence in other words
Babylon Posted 20 September 2012 Posted 20 September 2012 city tried to do the right things in the first half but looked nervous. Exactly, we were poor because of the goal. The whole atmosphere in the ground changed, fans were getting on peoples backs, players went very nervous after a positive start with some nice passing.
marbelladave Posted 20 September 2012 Posted 20 September 2012 To be fair, we looked comfortable rather than incisive before Burnley scored. Even in this season of rubbish first halves, I thought we were struggling to make anything happen in the early stages. The fans seemed resigned after the goal, very quiet where I was sitting. Very few could even be bothered to offer any abuse......

Much better in the day time
