NiftyFox Posted 3 November 2012 Posted 3 November 2012 Can't see us getting anything at Bolton, think they'll get a result today then be on a high still since Dougie took over. Better had get something.because its very much needed and I'm going! They will be very strong in defence since a certain someone will not be able to play. Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 3 November 2012 Posted 3 November 2012 Cardiff winning at Bolton. Probably best for us if it stays that way although Cardiff will start pulling away at the top.
kingfox Posted 3 November 2012 Posted 3 November 2012 Three things worry me. Knocky, a couple of weeks ago was sensational, now it seems that the opposition have done their homework on him. I still think we are too small and fragile away from home. Defensively we are still conceding too many away. No need for knee jerk stuff. We are still fourth. But we can improve. Is it time for our two favourite words Col? Defensive Midfielder?

Who cares, 2nd place imo is the best we can hope for don't think we have the quality to win the league atm, that could change with a couple of additions.
Guest Col city fan Posted 3 November 2012 Posted 3 November 2012 Is it time for our two favourite words Col? Defensive Midfielder? Don't even have to be a DM Just a bigger, stronger lad. I'm afraid our midfield doesn't fill me with confidence when under lots of pressure. I think Drinky is fine. The others worry me if we aren't controlling a game.

kingfox Posted 3 November 2012 Posted 3 November 2012 I think the name Trotter has to keep cropping up Just about to type his name in myself. We should of got him or someone like him in the summer. He has been scoring goals as well of late. We are missing a few things, which could well turn ourselves into an automatic promotion side, instead of a team which only looks like challenging for the play-offs. Because it's same old same old, the midfield will get dominated too many times as the season progresses, the goals will dry up on the strikers front, while our defence keeps getting unsettled because of injuries and suspensions, and we have to replace them with liabilities such as Whitbread. Changing things up isn't always the answer, but we really need to on his occasion, we miss key things in key areas, which make us struggle against certain teams. It's happened for years, and it's happening again this season. Yes we are 4th, but we are also still losing games by making the same mistakes we have made for years, and not being able to take our chances something we have failed to do for years as well.
dedlock Posted 3 November 2012 Posted 3 November 2012 A local game for me,just back.We did not deserve to win but neither did we deserve to lose. I sat in Watford section. Most of their fans were relieved to get the win. We set up to match them first half, leaving Nuge on his own up front, we were cut open for a soft goal but still created a couple of close chances including a goalline block. Second half we were more positive. Watford's goal came on the break,a good save by Kaspar and scrambled in on the rebound. After Nuge's equaliser Watford survived a few close calls. Those in the City end will be better placed to say whether any of the penalty calls were justified .From my position half way into our defensive half at least two could have been given by another ref on another day. Whitbreads yellow cards were a little harsh, I was right behind the second and the watford player made meal of his slightly delayed fall. A dissappointing result but not a bad performance, particularly second half.
Happy Fox Posted 3 November 2012 Posted 3 November 2012 Charlie Austin Liam Trotter Finance permitting, would be my priorities to sign this January get them in and we have a realistic chance of getting automatic promotion.
Callabinho Posted 3 November 2012 Posted 3 November 2012 We're top of the league, we're top of the league, Nuge just shit his sen, and we're top of the league.
Matt Posted 3 November 2012 Posted 3 November 2012 We're top of the league, we're top of the league, Nuge just shit his sen, and we're top of the league. Did make me laugh, think a few players need to get a grip if being top of the league 'scares them'.
deanolegend1989 Posted 3 November 2012 Posted 3 November 2012 IMO its kinda obvious...SSL came in on the Burnley game(first games of the seasons we had Moore with Morgan). Coicidence we win 5 games in a row suddenly? then he gets injured vs Bristol City and since this has happened? We give silly goals away early in the game. with SSL/Morgan we look alot more solid. Whitbread doesnt read the game well in my opinion and is slow and sluggish. These are more important facts than winning headers. SSL may not be the biggest centre half ever but he reads the game better and works it out of the defence better. End of day we cant rely on a starting 11 and there is clearly more than just defencivly wrong over last few games, but in terms of all this "we need a goalscorer" claims - We have scored in EVERY game. Nugent is a quality striker at this level, there isnt many better. So in terms of going forward, not much needs to change. Id say getting SSL back will be as good as we need and maybe add another CB for cover in Jan as well as maybe another CM(because King and Drinky aside I dont rate our options, James is just OK). In terms of wingplay/forwards, Id suggest Nugent, Knocky, Marshall, Dyer, Vardy are all as good as there is in this league! Maybe another option rather than Waggy but its not vital IMO. Being a bit more tight and working from the back is the root cause..keeping it 0-0 and knicking first goals will see us winning. No coicidence all our losses have been giving teams stupid 2-0 leads giving us almost no chance to comeback(we always manage to get 1 back as well!). End of essay

But why do we concede those two goals away from home? There's the problem......

Happy Fox Posted 3 November 2012 Posted 3 November 2012 we havent got much chance a signing them tbf. That is why I said finance permitting? But those are the ilk of players that could make the difference we could do no worse and get Darius Henderson in may not be the preference to the majority but is experienced and scores goals at this level.

End of essay But this is not so relevant when you're creating more chances than the opposition and not scoring more than them. I'm not saying that's happened today, but it's happened a few times. We're wasteful in front of goal, Ive no doubt about that, and I think we need better finishers than the ones we've got, Nugent aside. I think it's vital in the long run that we bring in someone who can finish some of the chances we have been missing. It's true we've been sloppy at the back in our defeats, but for some of them it's also sounded like we've not got started until it was too late. Today, it's obvious we didn't start well and we didn't against Palace and Wolves either. So that is more than just conceding sloppy goals, we're not putting our stamp on the game early enough. The thing is, we've looked unstoppable in the games I've seen us when we've really gone for it. But then at other times we've not been going full throttle with full determination and that's when we've looked poor. Some people saying today that we didn't look 'up for it', I wonder why that is. Do they think they're better than they are? Or are they, like Nugent said, 'scared' of the expectation? It's obvious we need a couple of players, for me 1 needs to be up front and we need a defender. And Pearson obviously got his tactics wrong today. But it seems to me our best way of playing is really going at teams from the off, we look a completely different side with the bit between our teeth.
Grey Fox Posted 3 November 2012 Posted 3 November 2012 Cardiff winning at Bolton. Probably best for us if it stays that way although Cardiff will start pulling away at the top. Not any more. Cardiff 2-1 down. Kevin Davies sent off as well, suspended for Tuesday? Correction N'gog, read it wrong on BBC website. We're still 3 points off the top. Disaster of a season! Despite the fact we're free falling faster than an Austrian sky diver.

Ashley Posted 3 November 2012 Posted 3 November 2012 Sey Ollifinjana(sp?) would do a job for us. We desperately need another striker.

Happy Fox Posted 3 November 2012 Posted 3 November 2012 I would take a point at Bolton it will be a tough game but we have to beat the F****t bastards no doubt about that.
