Criggers Posted 18 November 2012 Posted 18 November 2012 Shame really, the Beckham to Hartlepool rumours would have made an interesting read!

Guest MattP Posted 5 December 2012 Posted 5 December 2012 Good news for England,Sven is in talks with Ukraine with a view to becoming their new manager. Do people actually not learn anymore? How the fcuk can man still be employed by anyone?
21st Century Fox Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 In talks for the Ukraine job apparently.
Finnegan Posted 18 December 2012 Posted 18 December 2012 Do people actually not learn anymore? How the fcuk can man still be employed by anyone? Uhm, he had us a couple of points off the play offs, he did okay for England and wasn't that bad at Man City. I feel I'm missing something with Sven, I get that he's not a brilliant manager but I'm baffled as to why people talk about him like he's the world's worst. Ukraine could do much worse.

Every manager that doesn't make us into world beaters is the worst manager in our history I'd have thought you'd have learnt that by now.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 Set to join 1860 Munich according to German sources.
ozleicester Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 I was a Sven fan and i think that the spend overshadows the positives. Unquestionably NP is a better manager for Leicester and i wouldnt swap him for Sven in a fit, but the Sven hatred seems excessive to me. He took a club that was a mess, low on confidence and (imo) a club that had been rudderless and just drifiting for years. Along with the Thai's he began building a footballing side, and more, he returned us to a club that people began to recognise, and respect...and even fear? Yes, some of it was pure marketing - LCFC vs Real Madrid, ok it was a friendly... but, it was us playing against the best in the world! We were buying players that were (at the time) considered real talents and prem league quality, we paid over the odds, but that was a part of it, we were Leicester City and we were becoming a threat. On the park we were playing football again, not kick and run, not hit and hope, but calculated, quality football. Many times it didnt work and perhaps this isnt the league for the purity he appeared to be aiming for, but again, the side and club had changed. We now expected results, and to play football, and we waited to hear who the next "star" that was itching to come to Leicester would be. This was a change in the whole of things... the players, fans, club, owners all saw themselves as contenders and that "air" spread to our opponents and to the football world, Leicester were on their way back! In the end, Svens way did not work, many of his players didnt work out and we are lucky to have been able to re-sign NP, who has taken the progress and multiplied it a dozen times over, which leaves us in the position we now are... a football club earning and deserving of respect that soon will be back in the premier league. But in the end, for me, the Sven time wasnt all bad.

Just 5 months before he took over we were heading in a very nice direction under a certain Nigel Pearson? When I walked out the stadium after being beaten 3-0 at home by Millwall and then reading we were 58 million in debt the last thing I felt was part of a football club that was being respected and feared by people. People need to get their head out of their arse, organising a friendly against a big club doesnt make you respected, we were turned into a laughing stock by that man, mocked for our spending combined with constant failure. I just wish I knew what the wage was he drew from us for the 'job' he did. I can only think of Fred Goodwin who had a more undeserved pay off.
MC Prussian Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 Set to join 1860 Munich according to German sources. It has been confirmed (links so far only available in German): http://www.spiegel.d...n-a-877534.html It states that he'll "co-train" the team from now on, not replace current coach Schmidt completely - that is, if you believe the Spiegel. The news is now also on bundesliga.de. I've just read about the recent 1860 Munich story, and two thirds of the club's shares are owned by a Jordanian sports investor called Hasan Ismaik, who saved the "Lions" from bankruptcy in 2012. Looks like the appointment could be just a simple marketing trick. The Spiegel article also implies that the move was somewhat sudden and forced on the club as well as not really properly communicated to the people running 1860 Munich in Bavaria itself. I like Eriksson and I liked him at Leicester, but the longer I think about his recent coaching choices and his "history" of living off his reputation, the more he's starting to lose my respect.
Guest MattP Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 Looks like Michael Ball and Michael Johnson need to get off the burgers and start learning German then.
Mack Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 I hope the Munich Hookers have ordered extra lube!
MC Prussian Posted 16 January 2013 Posted 16 January 2013 According to a Swedish newspaper, Eriksson has now denied that he's been involved in the deal at all: http://www.expressen.se/sport/fotboll/svennis-dementerar---ska-inte-till-munchen/

But in the end, for me, the Sven time wasnt all bad. I felt none of what you felt, I watched a play-off challenging side dismantled for a bunch of mercenaries, "names", and loanees, the way he discarded players that had restored pride to the club, was disgusting. I felt very little love for the team and got no pleasure from watching us turn up and win against poor teams without really trying and then capitulating against any team that put us under any sort of pressure. By the end of 10/11 season I was barely even following the football, I cared so little for what he was doing and the players that were playing for us. Things improved at the start of last season as we had actually signed some players and some of them actually looked like they cared about playing for the club, but too many didn't. I was surprised Sven left, but not disappointed, we never really looked like making an progress as we couldn't put 2 results together. This is without even mentioning the amount of money he spent.
21st Century Fox Posted 3 June 2013 Posted 3 June 2013 He's now left UAE team Al Nasr after five months and will be joining Yakubu at Guangzhou in China.
