Tevez's Payslip

Apparently snapped by a fan at his house, it is no surprise he is earning a lot, but I am comforted that he pays a huge amount of tax on it:

Carlos Tevez’s pay slip leaked on the internet

By Eurosport | World of Sport – Tue, Nov 20, 2012 10:39 GMT

While you may be under the impression that millionaire footballers have their wages delivered in wheelbarrows full of gold bullion, several of them actually receive their remuneration via bank transfer.

One such man is Carlos Tevez, who is the apparent owner of a payslip that leaked on Twitter on Sunday. Assuming the document is genuine, it tells us that the Argentinian earned a gross wage of £720,287 in March 2010, with an additional bonus of £20,000 for accommodation — it really is impossible to find anything in Manchester for any less — and a £7,000 "M.P. Bonus" (presumably, Tevez is given a monthly reward if he is able to resist storming off to play golf for indefinite periods of time).

It also reveals that the City striker's net £408,397.27 earnings were hampered by a whopping £24 fine from the FA, which was probably handed down for a yellow card. In the tax year 2009/10, the payslip tells us that Tevez was paid just under £8m, but handed over nearly £3.3m in tax and national insurance.

That left him just over £4m to survive on for the year - more than enough to keep him in golf balls and speeding ticket lawyers.

Some have questioned the authenticity of the financial document, pointing to the fact that the employer is listed as "Manchester City 08/09," and the pay date is March 2010. But, surely any Photoshopper worth their manipulated salt would have corrected that if it was anomalous.

And those who question how this payslip could have ended up online need only look at John Arne Riise, who has already shown us that footballers are often daft enough to let this kind of thing happen.

He's a shameful cvnt and shouldn't have received a penny during the months he did one last season to Argentina.

Man City have no class at all allowing this nobhead to absolutely shit all over them.

if this is real !!!! i agree the tax paid is impressive, hope it is seen by a few bankers, comedians ,footballers if everyone did the right thing we would not be in the mire we are in and then maybe everybody's tax could be reduced(in my dream world anyway)

Possible fake, Tevez didn't play for Man City during the 2008-09 tax year

But the payslip is for March 2010. I wouldn't be surprised if it was fake, but the 08-09 at the end of the name could just be what the payroll is called. No real point in updating it each season.

As for masterg59's point, he hardly has a choice of whether to pay PAYE if he's on an employment contract, which I'm sure all footballers are. I doubt many of them avoid a great deal of tax.

National Insurance is fvcking pointless, though. He pays just over 1%, when people on average income are paying around 8-9% of gross salary, so stupid.

Ah yes good point I missed that, I was just looking at the Man City 08/09 part in the top right hand corner. I think it could be real then

The tax paid isn't really that impressive, it's just what is due given his earnings. Believe it or not most bankers will also be on PAYE.

It wouldn't have surprised me though to see that footballers were on a massive tax fiddle, I'm sure Tevez could claim non dom status the amount of time he spent in Argentina last season...

Edit: not to mentionm his dodgy ass agent I'm sure his ownership issues were part of a tax fiddle.

I'd have thought if they were on the fiddle then someone would have been exposed by now... In fact maybe I'm horribly naive but I'd be willing to bet that 95% of Premier League footballers are on PAYE. It's the self employed/contracting positions where people can take the piss. Ultimately footballers are just like normal full time employees (just massively well paid and a bit cvnty, but still).

Footballer earns shit load of money shocker.

This is just pictorial evidence of the obscene amounts of money footballers earn. I'm really finding it hard to be surprised by this.

I'd imagine Man City pay him above his agreed salary to account for tax deductions, I think that was the arrangement Ibrahimovic has at PSG.

Ibrahimovic will be paid more than €1m (£778,000) a month to play for PSG, whose new Qatari owners have made clear that the salary will be raised high enough to soften the consequences of a proposed 75% top rate of tax, due to be imposed by Hollande in the autumn on those earning above €1m a year.

To be fair if high rate tax payers were not raped so much in this country then its possible there would be a far higher ammount of them who would be willing to pay UK tax and not join tax avoidance schemes or offshore their accounts

Tevez will be non-dom regardless of the amount of time spent in the UK, but domicile wouldn't really make a difference as regards the income earned in the UK anyway.

Forgot players used image right loopholes. Still not doing anything wrong.

Think the First Tier Tribunal rules Rangers were doing things by the book as well!

Tevez is on the Champions League right now, seems he can't still speak English, guy has been over here long enough.

Just shocking.
