Will Promotion solve the threat of financial meltdown?

It's this season or bust is the general consensus around our club at the moment. Nigel has to get us into the promised land or we'll be without a club because the Thais will leave us up shit creek and we'll just go into liquidation.

But what if we go up?

You'd expect big investment to stay there. So will that come out of the Thais "pockets", at an 8% interest charge? While they pocket all the TV money and everything that comes with Premier League football will we just plunge further into oblivion?

Could we just be there for a couple of years while the Thais get more and more profit and then be left with a club hundreds of millions in debt after an inevitable relegation?

Even if they want to sell us while we're there, surely they'll be more lucrative clubs on the market than one as in debt as we are.

It's the elephant in the room at the minute. While we all get pumped up for Derby County later and every saturday this season, there will be that fear in the back of everybody's mind that we could soon pay the price for the last couple of years open cheque policy.

Let's hope im wrong and it's Leicester vs Sunderland in ten years time and not AFC Leicester vs Shepshed Dynamo

no one has ever seriously suggested the Thai's will leave after this season if we don't go up.

If we do go up, the money in the Premier League goes through the roof from next season, that's why there is a rush as after that teams get huge parachute payments for 4 years

I understand your concerns. They're very realistic and possible. It really is a bust bust situation if at any point they decide to do one.

Since we have brought Pearson back they seem to have grasped what football is about. Stability. i hope those managerial rumours two months ago were a load of bollocks else the trust isn't there between them and pearson abd also us and them

On what are you basing your opening salvo that the general consensus that it is this season or bust? Your premise seems to be that everything could go wrong. Yes, it could, but where is your evidence?

Where in heavens name have you got the notion that the thai's will leave if we don't go up at season's end. You are making a huge assumtion there my boy.

I can't for the life of me think that the owners (no matter what nationality they are!!) would write of their substantial investment if not in the Premier League next season.

Changes might be made, yes, but you have no idea that they would up and leave, no matter where the team finishes.

It is a lottery with 24 teams fighting for the very same thing in a very competitive competition. They are smart people and know there are certain things they can do to get the best out of the team. No one can guarantee promotion.

Frankly Pearson has done an outstanding job of protecting the owners investment and reduced the chances of financial loses and avoid FFP issues.

stop making up issues that just arn't there.

Yes it's unfair to say the owners will leave after this season, but they could, and if they do, unless they find the right replacement, we're ****ed. One can only hope that if we do get promoted that would give us enough money that we can cope if anything like that does happen. Pearson has been clever in the transfer window though, hopefully if the worst comes to the worst players like Knockaert and Marshall are going to get us a big profit in 5 years time, or even better we'll be in a strong enough position financially to keep them.

I thought the Thais wanted to get into the Prem? That's why they lavished Sven with 15 million quid for transfers then paid him to leave, then paid Pearson to come back.

Whether they'd then want out if we get promotion, well, who the Fook knows?

I agree.

I'd say not only are we reducing our expenditure for FFP, but we are operating on the thin red line of non-promotion/promotion team building. We've got a team full of young bloods, and behind the scenes are building an under 21 team that can feed our team for the future. We've obviously got a team capable of competing for promotion. How the team might need strengthening should we get up is a pointless afterthought. Promotion hasn't happened (yet).

The Thai's have a long term plan, and were too enthused on instant promotion and pleasing over optimistic fans and a media willing us to fail. Thankfully, we've fallen off the radar of the media (mostly). We can look to further derision, and bias from Sky's coverage today. Will Beagrie be covering the match, probably, just to annoy Big P.

Maybe, just maybe, the Thais deserve some credit. No-one could have anticipated how bad Sven would be but since then they haven't done much wrong IMHO.

There are far worse owners out there.

Relatively speaking what our owners have spent on the club is chicken feed in the world of football. We still have a small time mentality as Leicester fans because that's what we have always been used to. If and when we do get up to eat at the big table the money coming in will absolutely dwarf their initial input and they know it. They are business men first and foremost and we are a business venture for them, I see no reason what so ever for them leaving and taking a massive loss on their investment it just would not make commercial sense.

The opening post is just ridiculous, baseless scaremongering. For one thing the Thais can't leave, they are owners and they would have to sell the club. Any other attempt to leave would be result in a massive financial loss. If this club goes into administration then they can write off the majority of that loan too.

Is it promotion or bust for Pearson? Maybe, depends how close we get. Is it promotion or bust for the club? No, if it takes us another 5 years to get promoted that promotion, even if followed by

immediate relegation will wipe out most debts.

With ffp coming in them there is even less chance of the club going into financial meltdown, so we should just sit back relax and watch us stuff the sheep live on tv, again!
