Corky Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 Yeah, let's have them at our place. We only have to open one stand.
Guesty Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 I don't really see how the people who own the Ricoh Arena can put Coventry in the position where it's better if they leave. If the they do leave how do they plan to make any money on the stadium, it just don't make sense - cutting off your nose to spite your face.
Guest Bilo Posted 6 December 2012 Posted 6 December 2012 I imagine ACL make plenty of money from the attached Events Centre and casino, not to mention the many concerts they host per year. They're only really going to make money from Coventry City while attendances are good and the rent is being paid. While they're not paying the rent and struggling to get 10,000 to one, Coventry are probably a pain in the arse to ACL.
marko Posted 11 December 2012 Posted 11 December 2012 Coventry to play at Nene Park? http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/2012/12/11/coventry-city-plan-move-to-northamptonshire-92746-32403936/
Corky Posted 11 December 2012 Posted 11 December 2012 It does seem like a sensible move for a while. They'll have the hardcore who will go anywhere with them, then probably a few locals who want to watch a decent level of football. I doubt it would be a permanent move and it might give them the opportunity to sort themselves out for the longer term.
isaidno Posted 11 December 2012 Posted 11 December 2012 Coventry to play at Nene Park? http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/2012/12/11/coventry-city-plan-move-to-northamptonshire-92746-32403936/ I can't see many of there fans travelling to Rushden
davieG Posted 11 December 2012 Posted 11 December 2012 I can't see many of there fans travelling to Rushden I can't see many of there fans travelling to Ricoh.
dogadug Posted 11 December 2012 Posted 11 December 2012 It's a cursed stadium! Rushden & Diamonds played there, and folded. As did Kettering who are on their last legs Now Cov, maybe?
Corky Posted 11 December 2012 Posted 11 December 2012 I can't see many of there fans travelling to Ricoh. And that's the problem. If the fans turned up there would be less of a reason to move.
21st Century Fox Posted 11 December 2012 Posted 11 December 2012 I like the Wikipedia entry for Nene Park... On the 27th December Coventry City Football Club will be new occupants of Nene Park after popular owners SISU decided to downsize operations to improve profit margins and to ensure a swift return to the Premiership. Nene Park has also secured new sponsorship in line with the Sky Blues move with legendary trouble shooter Ken Dulieu backing the new stadium. The new name for the stadium will be Nene Deluded Tango Park.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 11 December 2012 Posted 11 December 2012 So they are effectively a bit like a new MK Dons - just a new Northampton team.
isaidno Posted 11 December 2012 Posted 11 December 2012 So they are effectively a bit like a new MK Dons - just a new Northampton team. Covhampton Diamonds ?
FoxesAreBlue Posted 11 December 2012 Posted 11 December 2012 Covhampton Diamonds ? - trademark that now and make a mint later! You're welcome.
Guest Bilo Posted 11 December 2012 Posted 11 December 2012 That'll go down like a shit sandwich with the Coventry fans. For me; they're far more likely to look at Butts Park (Coventry Rugby Club), Alexander Athletics Stadium in Birmingham or even the Bescot. Northamptonshire will be a long way down their wish list if they do leave the Ricoh.
Matt Posted 11 December 2012 Posted 11 December 2012 Brandon Stadium. Put abit of grass in the middle. Coventry Stockcar Racing. Coventry Speedway Coventry Dogs. Coventry City FC. All in one place?
Voll Blau Posted 11 December 2012 Posted 11 December 2012 Brandon Stadium. Put abit of grass in the middle. Coventry Stockcar Racing. Coventry Speedway Coventry Dogs. Coventry City FC. All in one place? Only been there once. Realised I was shite at betting on dogs so had an all you can eat curry buffet instead.
FoxesAreBlue Posted 11 December 2012 Posted 11 December 2012 Only been there once. Realised I was shite at betting on dogs so had an all you can eat curry buffet instead. So in the end you were a winner anyway. Happy days!
goose2010 Posted 13 December 2012 Posted 13 December 2012 brilliant apparently they are is discussion to ground share with Hinckley United! The Sky Blues revealed that it had commenced the process of making contact with other football clubs to evaluate if their stadiums meet our requirements should negotiations with ACL fail to reach a mutually agreed position on the rent with the result that CCFC is forced to move away from the Ricoh Arena to a new venue. Hinckley United have had a long standing relationship with Coventry City and many other local clubs and those relationships includes the provision of any viable support which in the past has included pre-season matches which supporters of both clubs have enjoyed over the years. That mutual support will hopefully continue to ensure the future of football at all levels locally.

Incidentally I had a dream last night where Hinckley invited me to join their team (don't ask me why Hinckley - I'm just as clueless as you are). Dream me turned them down because they were too big a club for a player of my stature.
eraserhead66 Posted 13 December 2012 Posted 13 December 2012 I thought we could have a laugh at the downfall of our near neighbours! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20714161
Basingstoke Fox Posted 13 December 2012 Posted 13 December 2012 I should be laughing but times like this for a club are no laughing matter it's sad really and I hope they sort this mess out soon. HAHAHAHAHA
kingfox Posted 13 December 2012 Posted 13 December 2012 Their ground can hold 4,329 fans The Ricoh Arena's capacity is 32,609 That says it all lol
leicesterisme Posted 13 December 2012 Posted 13 December 2012 What would happen in terms of season ticket holders and who gets the priority, I know their support is shit but surely they have more than 4k season ticket holders.
