MGLCFC Posted 8 January 2013 Posted 8 January 2013 Of course it is, I just don't think the impact (or lack of) he'd had in previous games warranted him coming on in such an important game. I agree with you Babylon and as I said I think it was the wrong decision. It was crying out for Futacs to come on. Cardiff always struggled against Howard, it seemed logical to try the aerial route.
Aus Fox Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 Just scored with a cool finish for United against the A League all stars.
Aus Fox Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 And another one this time an absolute belter, in an almost full strength united team he looks one if the best players on the pitch. Michael Keane on at half time for Rio and having a bit of a mare.

kingfox Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 Get Lingard back, he was underused. The guy is going to play for England one day.
shen Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 I think Lingard is a lot more suited to the premier league, than the championship. This isn't the Premier League, it's a pre-season friendly against a much inferior team. Never understood why people say that phrase either... it's nonsense!
Yuki! Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 This isn't the Premier League, it's a pre-season friendly against a much inferior team. Never understood why people say that phrase either... it's nonsense! it happens quite a lot, players who are less physical such as dyer for Swansea. He was very rarely a starter in the championship, but now is one of swansea's best players.
Collymore Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 I actually thought Lingard looked alright when he was here. Yes, he didn't set the KP on fire but he looked like he had potential.

It is not much of a surprise, did a good job in the championship when Swansea got promoted and has got better, his at that age where he should be showing his potential which he has. I believe any player good enough for the PL would be well capable of being a top player in the Championship.
kingfox Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 People are saying on twitter, this guy deserves MOTM today. We so underused him. Pearson Out
Munshi Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 I actually liked him and thought he wasnt given a chance.
Guest shearfox Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 I don't think he was any good when here, he either has improved or the A League is just atrocious. Looked lost when he played for us, offered absolutely nothing.
Munshi Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 I don't think he was any good when here, he either has improved or the A League is just atrocious. Looked lost when he played for us, offered absolutely nothing. He was never even given a fair chance, came on in 2 or 3 games in the 80th minute, cant judge him on that.
Kitchandro Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 it happens quite a lot, players who are less physical such as dyer for Swansea. He was very rarely a starter in the championship, but now is one of swansea's best players. Eh? He was quality in the Championship. Not sure where you get he was rarely a starter from.
Kitchandro Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 Lingard was just a pointless signing for us. We didn't need a player like him at all and it seemed even Pearson wasn't sure what to do with him. He's not necessarily rubbish but he did look completely lost for us.
OzFox Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 "Remember the name, Jesse Lingard" http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/video/37967939761/A-League-All-Stars-1-5-Manchester-United
shen Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 it happens quite a lot, players who are less physical such as dyer for Swansea. He was very rarely a starter in the championship, but now is one of swansea's best players. But if anything, the Premier League is more physical.
sdb Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 a lot of fickle people here! he didn't click here and i do think the league was a little physical for him at the time. tbh I didn't think Keane was all that either - good ball player but not imposing enough for a championship cb
hernandez Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 I don't think he was any good when here, he either has improved or the A League is just atrocious. Looked lost when he played for us, offered absolutely nothing. to be fair this wasn't our best possible "all star" team as all our best australian players are with the international team and some of our other best players like marco rojas and matt ryan left the a league as soon as the season finished so weren't included in the team. the same thing is going to happen when we (melbourne) play liverpool next week as our three best players will be with the australian squad for the east asian cup. regardless lingard played well and his second goal was a belter.
Father Ted Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 FOXESTALK SHOCKER!!! Ex-loanee scores two against a side the equivalent of a League One team and suddenly everybody says that they actually thought that he was alright and should have been used more.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 How anyone can say the guy was beyond wank for us is unbelievable. He made no impact, EVERYONE slated him when he played and his little contribution to the team. Maybe it just didn't click or the fact he didn't care for our promotion push like Keane did. But his time here was all negative.
Mack Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 He was not ready for the physicality of the championship when we had him
Danizen Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 FOXESTALK SHOCKER!!! Ex-loanee scores two against a side the equivalent of a League One team and suddenly everybody says that they actually thought that he was alright and should have been used more. Yep. We're doing this, again.
Fox92 Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 Doesn't matter really. I mean, Cleverly was excellent for us but I don't think United fans rate him that much. Lingard was a pointless loanee really, not sure what he was used for and I don't think Pearson knew at the time either. He's at Manchester United for a reason though, and fair play to him for scoring although he is playing with better players than he was here.
Greatness_Since_1884 Posted 20 July 2013 Posted 20 July 2013 A negative experience can actually help some of these young lads. Hopefully he has improved and it'd be good to see more young, English, technical players like him made it through.
