Holidays 2013

Hopefully travelling the states for 3 weeks in the summer, just wondered if anybody knows of any, reasonably priced, decent hotels in either NYC, Miami or Vegas; particularly the first two.

Found flights to all 3 and a return for just over £800 so just need hotels sorting.

Went NYC last year. Stayed in Hotel 17 down on 17th street near Union Square which wasn't bad at all. Good for transport links, decently priced, kinda basic but I didn't spend much time in the hotel anyway. Worth a look in my opinion.

For Vegas, the Imperial Palace, it's right on the centre of thr strip, slap bang opposite the Bellagio and it's as cheap as a travel lodge. Dont expect a total luxury room, but don't expect a a crappy room either.

It's location makes it a winner

Still looking for places. This is hard work!

Need somewhere with good night life and enough to do in a week besides sitting around a pool all day.

I thought Turkey was a good shout but it doesn't seem to be that popular amongst friends yet.

What sort of nightlife, budget, hotel or apartments?

Vegas is chip as chips to stay there wouldn't worry about about that we stopped at the vdara 5 star luxury for about 30 quid a night! , we stopped in a hostel in new york when we travelled the east coast a few years back I will dig out the name, was basic but was clean and tidy and for how long you're in the room well worth it. Now Miami I've no idea!

Well it'll be 4 or 5 lads, so clubs I guess, what else is there really? Budget of say £500 to £800 maybe, not too fussed about hotels/appartments really, not that important overall.

And so I guess you don't want Magaluf/Kos/Kavos type of places as you'd already know them.

Shame your friends aren't keen on Turkey, Marmaris would probably be a good fit, great place for nightlife and plenty of other things around as well as having fairly cheap places to stay and eat.

Ayia Napa is sometime unfairly put alongside Magaluf, there is far more to the place than that but you can do that as well if you want. The strip is class, Nissi Beach is nice and the resort has a nice feel but Cyprus can be expensive

Albufeira in Portugal has some decent nightlife, plenty of water sports around and is a great area if you like golf. The slightly cooler temperatures are kinder to any hangover and its a shorter/cheaper flight.

Playa De Las Americas in Tenerife has some good nightlife but there are only a couple of decent clubs as its focused more around bars. I'd say PDLA has the most to do during the day though and Siam Park is amazing. Would probably be the cheapest as well

From personal experience Gumbet and Bodrum are fantastic. Quality nightlife and atmosphere :)

Booked 2 weeks in Pula, Croatia at the weekend. Outlook festival sandwiched inbetween the 2 weeks too.

Croatia is my favourite country, beautiful nation.

I've spent a lot of time in Bulgaria and Croatia. Bulgaria has nicer beaches - Croatia's coastline is quite rocky. You have to really search to find some wild beaches in Bulgaria though - down south near the Turkish border is beautiful. The towns along the Croatian coast are really nice, quite Venetian in architecture and atmosphere. The Bulgarian mountain scenery is also stunning if you prefer hiking to sunbathing. Bulgaria is also obviously cheaper.

Pula is really nice and laid back. It's a nice base but there isn't loads to do and there aren't a load of beach options nearby. Do you have the chance to travel around? From Rijeka you can get ferries to some of the islands. Rab and Cres island are really unspoilt. It's a beautiful area, I'd be happy to give you more info.

Ahh yeah I've heard its a nice place. 6 lads going so we were hoping there would be some nightlife in Pula or nearby for when we aren't at Outlook festival. Sounds like we're gonna have to travel out of Pula for a bit of night life though

Have you booked the place already or are you going to be flexible? Do you have time after the festival?

Pag Island has great nightlife, it's one of the best places the Mediterranean. Very nice scenery, bars and beautiful people. But that'll be a bit of a trip south. Travelling round on the ferries is really easy and pretty cheap though. And great fun. You could easily go Pula - Rijeka - Pag Island in a day and stay a couple of nights....

Going to Venice for 10 days this summer. Should be nice I hope.

Loved it when I went last September. I would say 10 days is bit too much but you can travel to Verona and few other destinations for a day trip. It is really easy to buy a ticket though make sure you "punch" it in a machine before you get on the train- I found out the hard way with 35 euros fine!

Ouch - I'll remember that!
