stevelcfc Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 (Don't know whether to put it in here or general sport) For those who havn't seen/got twitter the good old MJ is trending for this reason... It shows what injuries and too much pressure and fame at a young age can do to a person, he had such a bright future as well, shame could have been an England regular. He is still only 24 and is still under contract by Man City. For me it shows what so much pressure and expectation can do.
Fox92 Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 Can't believe how a person can change, if he walked past me in the street I wouldn't recognize him. Such a talented midfielder as well, on the verge of an England call up as I recall. That goal above is a good goal as well.
BlooArmeh! Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 Bloody hell, that's far too chunky for a supposed professional athlete. Bags of potential, never fulfilled due to the ridiculous amounts of pressure we apply to any young English footballer that seems to have an ounce of talent. He wasn't even that bad for us when he was on loan, a bit sluggish but his passing was decent. Still, he didn't represent value for money in any sense of the word.
Hirsty The Blue 94 Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 Still getting 50k a week too for doing absolutely nothing. I reckon Sven will still be interested in signing him along with Micheal Ball wherever he next winds up.
Guest shearfox Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 Wow, he looks like a completely different person.
Jace Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 I do feel sorry for the guy and I make jokes about him when I probably shouldn't but seriously how the hell does he put on so much weight? I couldn't put on that much that quick if I was paid to, how does he get so out of shape for a pro footballer?

Giving that he would have some of the best support and facilities as well to keep in top shape it is quite unbelievable. He has aged about 10 years and gained a huge amount of weight in such a short space of time.
fleckneymike Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 He got pulled twice in a matter of weeks for DUI after we terminated his loan. He's not generally in a good place (and no I don't mean Manchester).
GLC Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 He's still under contract at man city until 2014, I doubt he'd look like that if he had to earn his money at a lower league club
stevelcfc Posted 14 January 2013 Author Posted 14 January 2013 You have to wonder what his management team, I.E agent, have been doing, as they had possibly once of the most exiting prospect of that time to look after, which they clearly did a good job of.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 Five year prognosis. I hope for his sake something is actually stopping him controlling his weight, because for a well-paid Premier League footballer that is disgraceful.

Grey Fox Posted 14 January 2013 Posted 14 January 2013 You can't blame all of that on the fact he had a long term injury. To be successful in any sport it's about having the right mentality. Some have it, some don't. He doesn't.
Guest Bilo Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 Fvckin blew it in my eyes. The dirty fat bastard.
SystonFox Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 Why can't Manchester city terminate his contract? Surely they don't want to be funding that? Even if they pay him off he's still winning
TheUltimateWinner Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 And I didn't think you could get much worse after looking like Jay from the inbetweeners.
cornishfox83 Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 I think some blame has to be put on man city to let him get like that. Surely there management team would be helping him if he's still under contract. Looks like the only help he's had is a reserved table at McDonald's for the past 6 months.

David Platt was probably with him.
HitchinFox Posted 15 January 2013 Posted 15 January 2013 This article On Johnson from the Guardian was probably put up at the time (June 2012) but here it is again. Excellent read. One thing regarding us jumps out too: "[Man] City's coaching staff concluded Johnson simply did not have the mentality to be a footballer at the highest level. He was moved to Leicester City last year, on a season-long loan that cost the Championship club £1m." http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2012/jun/02/daniel-taylor-michael-johnson
